This is our beloved “Mothership” - FIRST AND FOREMOST I have bought and sold many cars on eBay and one thing is paramount FULL DISCLOSURE so here you go, this is the story of The Mothership I am the original owner, purchased this from Varsity Ford in Ann Arbor, MI in Feb. of 2001. She left the lot with 20 miles on her and she will come to you with over 328,000 miles of experience and adventures. Her favorite place on earth is the U.P. in Michigan, if you’ve never been there, just point her north, set the cruise and enjoy the ride, she knows the way. She has also taken us to FL, AL, KY, OH, IL,& WI. We are a family of 5 (six including Fritz our German Shepard) and this truck is a part of our family, but the time has come to part ways. My oldest son was 4 almost 5 when I bought this and he’ll be graduating High School this coming year. For the last 2 years, we have only driven her on family vacations every Thanksgiving & Christmas we spend in the UP (750 miiles round trip). When we all travel together, we all PREFER to take the Mothership vs. our new cars, but we can no longer justify the cost of multiple vehicles. The decision to offer her to a new owner has only taken us 2 years to make :-) She has ZERO mechanical issues. She does has some cosmetic issues and I will detail everything below. This is a 12 year old vehicle so expect to see the typical signs of use and wear. I did not invest in the industrial size bottle of armor all to make the pics look shiny and fake. For those of you looking for a great deal on Ford’s awesome 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel you’ll find it in the Mothership Here is The Good, The Bad and The Ugly... this is the stuff I would want to know if I was going to bid. The technical stuff (features and options) will come from Kelley Blue Book. THE GOOD She has Ford’s bullet-proof “Million Mile Motor” 7.3L Turbo Diesel runs a smooth and strong as she did when new Oil Changes & Reg Maintenance all done on schedule. A/C is cold Heat works great New Jasper Transmission installed at approx 285,000 miles Front Hubs replaced with WARN (lifetime warranty) locking hubs Shocks are Monroe (Lifetime warranty) Brake Pads (lifetime warranty) ALL fuel injectors & Glow Plugs were just replaced Luke at L&A Auto in Jackson, MI (highly recommend him) has been taking care of The Mothership since she was just a pup. All records are available for the serious bidders New (lifetime warranty) Alternator just installed this Spring, apparently Ford only builds these to last 326,000 miles - go figure :-) New serpentine belt installed last winter New adjuster pulley installed same time as the belt New Fuel Filter just installed these were typically replaced every 5-10k miles Rear climate controls and radio controls all work perfectly No Accidents NO AFTERMARKET PERFORMANCE KITS EVER USED ON THIS TRUCK THE BAD Passenger blinker lens broken - see pictures She will need new tires within the next 3000 miles Rear window will not stay up on it’s own in the cold weather hydraulic arms should probably be replaced Driver side door speaker seems to have stopped working - all the rest are fine The Rear driver side hinged window, the one by the spare tire, the hinge is broken, the motor to open it works fine, but there is a pin that holds the hinge together and it is broken... never been a problem for us because the spare tire is there anyway and Fritz likes the other window open to get his smells along the way There was some body work done on the driver side rear pillar, someone backed into it while is was in a parking lot. Local body shop did the repairs, no structural damage. The driver side back dutch door was replaced, I put a hole in the original door backing up to the trailer (oops) again, no structural damage. New door, some paint, she was good to go. Pull down DVD screen with wireless headphones we are working on troubleshooting this, but during the last use (school field trip) we can't seem to get the DVD out of the machine... so there may be a bonus DVD of The Incredible's included if we can't figure out what's wrong. THE UGLY Various scratches, Stains see pictures, I did my best to show you the most obvious ones, nothing outside what you would expect for a 12 year old vehicle that has “raised 3 kids” and been the go-to vehicle for every school field trip. Chip in the windshield right below mirror mount - see pics Passenger mirror had to be “frozen in place” with silicone. The brackets that hold the mirror in place broke a couple winters ago while we were scraping the mirror and I just haven’t felt like paying the $500 Ford wants for a new mirror assembly. The heated part of the mirror still works fine The back support bracket for the running board on the driver side has rusted out and needs some support. Driver side just behind the passenger door there is a dent and scratch from a blue post office box (turned too sharp too soon) I think this is everything, feel free to email, we will do our best to reply asap. My BUY IT NOW is below the Kelly Blue Book info listed below. FROM KELLEY BLUE BOOK - Estimated Blue Book and Features Excellent $12,282 Very Good $11,932 Good $11,732 Fair $10,832 THIS IS AVAILABLE FOR SALE LOCALLY SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO TERMINATE AUCTION EARLY. Ford ready to install GE Wattstations at 60 locations in North America
Thu, Mar 20 2014Upper-level Ford executives are sending mixed messages about the power of plug-in vehicles, but in the companies parking lots across North America, at least, the signal is clear: come on and charge your EV. Today, Ford and GE announced that the Blue Oval will be installing Wattstation chargers at its Dearborn HQ and will then add units at more than 60 locations across the US and Canada, including "offices, product development campuses and manufacturing facilities." If you're a Ford employee, then you get four hours of free charging a day. That should be plenty to top off any of the company's plug-in vehicles, even the Focus Electric, and the time limit encourages drivers to swap cars at lunch, because Ford wants to encourage charging station sharing and get more employees to plug in. Ford doesn't mention the DOE's Workplace Charging Challenge by name in the release (available below), but we suspect these Wattstations are part of that project. Ford was one of the founding members, joining the Workplace Charging Challenge on January 31, 2013. On that date, the Ford Motor Company and Ford dealers had over 1,750 charging stations installed on company/dealer property. Ford, GE WattStation Chargers Support Employee Electric Vehicle Charging Network Ford to install its first employee electric vehicle charging station network in Dearborn, Mich.; facilities across the United States and Canada to follow Ford will work with GE as its network provider and supplier of electric vehicle charging stations; networked stations will help Ford understand charging usage and plan for future installations Ford electrified vehicles have logged an estimated 65 million electric miles over the last 18 months. Ford now offers six electrified vehicles, including Focus Electric, C-MAX Energi and Fusion Energi plug-in hybrids, and C-MAX and Fusion hybrid vehicles Ford Motor Company in conjunction with GE, will supply vehicle charging stations at Ford facilities nationwide, beginning with facilities in and around its headquarters. The announcement continues the innovative cooperation begun more than 100 years ago between Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, co-founder of GE. This month, Ford will begin installing GE WattStation™ charging stations across its North American campuses, developing a workplace charging network at nearly every Ford facility in the United States and Canada.
Hot-selling Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator get production boost
Mon, Feb 12 2018Ford is investing an additional $25 million in its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville to increase by 25 percent production of the hot-selling and all-new Lincoln Navigator and Ford Expedition SUVs. The investment adds to $900 million in previously announced spending at the plant, which also builds F-Series Super-Duty pickups and employs 8,400 workers. Assembly-line workers are putting in overtime and working voluntary weekend shifts to keep up with demand. The new investment will cover upgrades to the assembly line but does not involve further hiring, Ford spokeswoman Kelli Felker says. The popularity of the Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator is a bright spot as Ford stock has been battered by Wall Street amid concerns concerns about the automaker's future vision and slowness to detect trends. Ford says the investment is an example of its bid to improve "operational fitness," one of CEO Jim Hackett's common refrains. Ford says Navigator retail sales more than doubled in January, and Navigators are spending an average of just seven days on Lincoln dealership lots as customers trade in vehicles including Land Rovers and Mercedes-Benz. Nearly 85 percent of buyers are opting for high-end Black Label and Reserve trim packages, contributing to an average transaction price increase of more than $21,000 in January compared to a year ago. The 2018 Navigator won the North American Truck of the Year award and also topped a Detroit News poll of public favorites at last month's Detroit Auto Show. Sales of the Expedition, meanwhile, were up almost 57 percent last month as the full-size SUVs also spent an average of just a week on dealer lots. Platinum trim models represented 29 percent of sales, pushing transaction price increases up $7,800. Ford gave the 2018 Expedition an all-aluminum body to save mass in its first significant redesign since 2007. The plant last year got nearly 400 new robots, mainly in the body shop, to help increase line speed, and Ford added a robot lab where employees can test software tweaks or troubleshoot issues away from the factory floor. The Louisville plant also benefits from extensive new data analytics, with seven big-screen monitors providing minute-by-minute updates showing progress against hourly targets or alerting workers to pending parts shortages. A huge spare-parts "vending machine" lets workers more quickly locate needed parts and keep inventory at necessary levels.
VW, Rivian, Nissan, BMW, Genesis, Audi and Volvo lose EV tax credits starting tomorrow
Mon, Apr 17 2023The U.S. Treasury said Monday that Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, Rivian, Hyundai and Volvo electric vehicles will lose access to a $7,500 tax credit under new battery sourcing rules. The Treasury said the new requirements effective Tuesday will also cut by half credits for the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Rear Wheel Drive to $3,750 but other Tesla models will retain the full $7,500 credit. Vehicles losing credits Tuesday are the BMW 330e, BMW X5 xDrive45e, Genesis Electrified GV70, Nissan Leaf , Rivian R1S and R1T, Volkswagen ID.4 as well as the plug-in hybrid electric Audi Q5 TFSI e Quattro and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) electric Volvo S60. The Swedish carmaker is 82%-owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The rules are aimed at weaning the United States off dependence on China for EV battery supply chains and are part of President Joe Biden's effort to make 50% of U.S. new vehicle sales by 2030 EVs or PHEVs. Hyundai said in a statement it was committed to its long-range EV plans and that it "will utilize key provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act to accelerate the transition to electrification." Rivian declined to comment and the other automakers could not immediately be reached for comment. Treasury also disclosed General Motors electric Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV will qualify for the full $7,500 tax credit. GM said earlier it expected at least some of its EVS would qualify for the $7,500 tax credit under the new rules, including the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq and forthcoming Chevrolet Equinox EV SUV and Blazer EV SUV. Treasury said all GM EVs will qualify. Earlier, Ford Motor and Chrysler-parent Stellantis said most of their electric and PHEV models would see tax credits halved to $3,750 on April 18. Treasury confirmed the automakers' calculations. The rules were announced last month and mandated by Congress in August as part of the $430 billion Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA requires 50% of the value of battery components be produced or assembled in North America to qualify for $3,750, and 40% of the value of critical minerals sourced from the United States or a free trade partner for a $3,750 credit. The law required vehicles to be assembled in North America to qualify for any tax credits, which in August eliminated nearly 70% of eligible models and on Jan. 1 new price caps and limits on buyers income took effect.
