Up for auction is my 2000 Ford Excursion. Yes it has has a prior salvage title in Iowa. I own and operate a shop in town and I bought this truck for myself three years ago from auction. It was wrecked in the front. No frame damage at all. I looked for quite a while to find a nice truck with the 7.3 as I did not want anything to do with that 6.0 liter. Since the truck was wrecked in the front I upgraded all the front end pieces to the 05-07 superduty frontend with all color matched parts and the harley davidson style headlights with 5000k HID conversion on lights and driving lights.On the rear I replaced the chrome bumper with a painted one and custom installed the backup camera into the rear handle assembly and it points directly at the trailer ball as that is the main reason I built this truck, For towing trailers and our camper. The interior is all original except the Clarion NX500 head unit with Navigation and rear monitors for the kids. I do have the third row seat, it's just not in the pictures. The exterior is obviously all custom paint. Top is straight black and the lower is Guards red all done in PPG base clear. The truck was pretty much completely disassembled when painting so the colors go through the jams and everything. The truck was originally black. The 7.3 is all stock except the wicked wheel on the turbo to eliminate the stock wheel flutter under hard boost. The up pipes were all done when the wheel was installed.It does have a superchips programmer in it that stays set on tow safe mode unless were road tripping without a trailer. Then it's on max performance for fuel mileage.The best I seen was 18mpg with 8 people in it on a trip to St.Louis. The brakes are new in the front and new last year in the rear. The Nitto 305/55/r20's are in decent shape with a decent amount of tread left yet. The wheels are definetely what we call 20 footers. I run them year round and it's showing. They look good from a distance but are corroding. Like I said I built this 3 years ago and have put over 50k miles on it with no issues besides basic maintenance. Oil changed every 5k miles with Delvac. Now a few things to know. The Clarion needs to be sent in for service. When inserting a DVD it is suppose to switch from radio screen to DVD but it stopped doing that a few months ago. Just stays on radio so you cant control the player to the rear monitors. They said it would be couple hundred bucks at worse. This is a 14 year old truck and I've done my best to keep the slop off of it in the winter but it's starting to show rust on the inside lips of the doors and the drivers side rear rocker. It could be taken care of by a shop rather easily I would think. The suspension is all original. I was going to put a lift in but it's already tough for the kids to get in and out as it is. Basically we sold the camper and went to a motorhome so I don't really need this truck anymore but I don't have to get rid of it either so no low balling. It's been a great truck for us and they're getting harder to find.

Ford says 70% of its models to get stop-start by 2017
Sun, 15 Dec 2013Ford is following up on a report we posted a few weeks back that the Blue Oval would be adding stop-start technology to its entire model range. Now, the Dearborn-based automaker has announced that the fuel-saving feature would be available on 70 percent of the company's range by 2017.
Ford claims the technology will improve fuel economy by around 3.5 percent, although its actual effect will vary based on how the owner drives - apparently up to a 10-percent improvement is possible for those who sit in heavy traffic (Los Angelenos, this means you). The latest recipient of the technology is the updated 2014 Ford Fiesta with the company's three-cylinder EcoBoost powerplant.
Part of the reasoning for the new addition has to do with cost. Ford claims the tech is affordable and easy to implement. "Simply put, Auto Start-Stop helps customers use less fuel, which is an important component of Ford's Blueprint for Sustainability," Ford's global powertrain vice president, Bob Fascetti, said.
Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma top ASG list of most eco-friendly trucks
Mon, Mar 31 2014No one's going to confuse the massively popular Ford F-150 pickup truck with a green vehicle, but at least it performs well in an environmental sense when compared to its brethren. The Automotive Science Group (ASG) took on the odd (to us, at least) task of measuring which pickup trucks are friendliest to the environment and found that the big seller in the Blue Oval's flagship F-series came up big, while the Toyota Tacoma came up, well, slightly smaller. That's a good thing. Among the 245 light-duty trucks that ASG studied, the 3.7-liter V6-powered F-150 won ASG's award for full-size trucks for both regular and crew cabs. Meanwhile, the 2.7-liter Toyota Tacoma, with its fuel-economy rating of 23 miles per gallon combined, had smallest overall life-cycle carbon footprint and won ASG's two mid-sized categories. Finally, the Chevrolet Silverado won best all-around performance in the full-size extended-cab category. The ASG factored in eco-friendliness, price and social performance (which is measured by, "considering the rights of those charged with vehicle manufacture and assembly") to come up with its findings. Sales of Ford's F-Series trucks rose 8.4 percent last year to 74,592 units and accounted for more than a third of the total 2013 sales of Ford and its Lincoln unit. 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost
Fri, 16 May 2014Earlier this week, Ford invited us to Charlotte, NC, to ride in an all-new 2015 Mustang fitted with its turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. It's the first forced-induction, four-cylinder ponycar for the Blue Oval since the sun set on the 1986 Mustang SVO. We jumped at the opportunity, as only a handful of people have ever been in the passenger seat of this new car, and most automotive media won't get as close as we did until this fall.
As we revealed in our Deep Dive, Ford will slot this new turbocharged four as premium powerplant between its naturally aspirated 3.7-liter V6 and the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8. At last mention, the automaker said the direct-injected, all-aluminum engine will develop 305 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, returning the best fuel economy of the three powerplants in the process. History buffs will note that those figures are appreciably stouter than the 200 horses and 240 lb-ft that the '86 SVO realized out of the same displacement, and the latter's figures were hugely impressive at the time. On paper, the new EcoBoost four looks to be a good fit for most owners who want to balance performance with efficiency - we were eager to see how it felt from the passenger seat.
