Up for auction is a very clean and ready to get in drive 2000 Ford Excursion XLT with the Triton V 10 gas engine.  This is the 4 wheel drive version.   I have owned three Ford trucks with this engine and they are underrated and often overlooked for their virtually bullet proof performance.  While the 7.3 Diesels may be "legendary", they are ridiculously expensive and you can buy a whole lot of gas for the difference in price.  The V-10 engine makes a lot of torque at low rpm(like a diesel) and unless you are planning to tow your house it is more than adequate for your boat, RV trailer, or race car trailer.   At a 112K miles, it is just getting broken in.

This car is a very clean, low mileage vehicle that has been well cared for.  As you evaluate similar Excursions keep in mind that this car has had recent service/maintenance including brand new tires with less than a 1000 miles, new high dollar off road heavy duty shocks, new stabilizer bushings, front rotors and complete brake service, and all fluids checked/changed for new owner.

Good options for an XLT with A/C,  leather, power seats, multi-disc changer and alloy wheels.  The exterior has a few door dings here and there and has  small scrape on the right rear quarter panel (pictured).  Other than that, it is in excellent condition.  The interior is in good condition as well with the major flaw being a small separation in the drivers seat which is very common with all Ford trucks that have leather seats.   It does have third row seating.  I have it out but it will be included.  AC is ice cold and everything works with the exception of the power locks.  Sometimes they work but more often than not they only actuate a couple of locks.

I wouldn't be afraid to go anywhere in this vehicle.   Price is very fair for an Excursion with low miles and condition so bid to win.   Shipping is responsibility of the purchaser but I will be happy to be available when carrier calls to pick it up.  This is a 15 year old vehicle that has been used for its intended purpose (meaning hauling kids, stuff and towing) so don't expect perfection.  It is however, in excellent condition for it's age and you probably won't find many nicer.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have before bidding.

2015 Ford F-150 [w/videos]

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

To learn more about the all-new 2015 F-150 and get an early read on its potential hero-or-zero status, we flew to the heart of full-size pickup truck country, San Antonio, TX, to spend a day driving, towing and playing in the mud with an assortment of Ford's innovative new trucks.
First, a caveat - while we feel we have a reasonably good handle on the new F-150 after attending this first-drive event, we are far from ready to pass definitive judgment on the success of this radically new rig. Our time in the various models was lamentably limited and we felt rushed. With so much at stake and with so much to talk about and experience, we had zero alone time with the vehicle - there were Ford folks shadowing us at every moment.
And we still don't know everything there is to know about the trucks, as Ford is withholding some of its most crucial numbers, including curb weight data and anticipated EPA fuel economy figures. We don't even have a firm on-sale date. All of this information is typically disclosed - or at least officially estimated - at the time of a new vehicle's first drive. This limits the scope of the judgments we feel comfortable making based on our first encounter.

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.

Quitting Mexico factory helps bring down Ford earnings $200 million in 2016

Thu, Jan 26 2017

Ford released its 2016 earnings report this morning, and despite a fourth quarter net loss it proved to be the automaker's second most successful year ever, following record breaking numbers in 2015. Losses for the year come from a number of sources, including accounting changes and a $200 million hit for backing out of the small-car factory in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Despite the loss, come March 9 about 56,000 UAW-represented employees will receive a $9,000 profit-sharing check. That, like most of Ford's other 2016 metrics, is slightly down from the year before, but it's still the second best profit-sharing payment ever. Total net income was $4.6 billion, down $2.8 billion from 2015. Total revenue for 2016 was $151.8 billion, up $2.2 billion. Ford's earnings report lists a global market share of 7.6 percent, down a tenth from 2015. Ford's European and Asia-Pacific markets posted their best and second best pre-tax profits respectively. The South American, Middle East, and African markets all took hits because of unstable economies and other external factors. Ford expects to have another down year in 2017 as it invests in new and emerging markets and focuses more on its mobility projects.Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
