1963 American Motors Corporation Rambler 220 on 2040-cars
Paris Crossing, Indiana, United States
1963 AMC Rambler American 220. Ugly car. I bought this car on EBay in February 2012 and had it shipped in from Oregon. Way more money in it than I will ever get out of it but I don't want to scrap it out. When I got it I either had the carburetor rebuilt or bought another one for it. I also ordered a water pump which was nearly impossible to find. I believe the engine is an L6, not 100% certain. It has been a while since I worked on it. I licensed it and insured it and just cancelled the insurance two days ago. The engine ran great, as far as I could tell. After I had the carburetor work and the water pump replaced and whatever else I had done to it, the transmission got stuck in two gears. Not sure if it was the linkage or the transmission itself. Anyway I got tired of messing with it and parked it and it has been sitting ever since. I have not tried to start it, it has no battery. I'm pretty sure that it is still stuck in two gears. I have an ignition key. I don't think I ever had a trunk key. I have no idea what is in the trunk or what condition it is in. The floor boards are rusted pretty badly. The body is not as bad as a lot of the old Ramblers. It is not all dented up but it does have some rust. A lot of it does not appear to be through the metal. Please check out the pictures and ask any questions that you may have before bidding and I will do my best to answer them. The head liner is still attached and not sagging. The seats have probably two seat covers so I'm not sure what kind of shape the seats are in. At least one, if not two tires are flat. They were up and holding air when I got it. I did drive the car very little. The tires may or may not hold air. I'm pretty sure all four would need replaced should you decide to try and fix the car up. The paint job on the car was done poorly and it is chipping and looks bad. I don't know what else to say about the car. Ask questions if you have them. The new buyer will be responsible for shipping. If the new owner does not live too far, say about two hundred to two hundred fifty miles, I may be able to deliver it at an additional charge depending on distance, tolls, etc. The car will be sold as-is. I do have a clear title in my name. A non refundable payment of $200.00 is due within twenty four hours of auctions end, pay pal will be fine. If for any reason you change your mind about finalizing the deal, the down payment will be non refundable. The balance can be paid in cash when picked up or by pay pal before picking it up. There is no great rush in having it picked up. I know how it is getting a trucking company. Two or three weeks unless we make other arrangements.

Couple fined for parking Ford F-150 in their own driveway
Tue, Jan 20 2015A homeowners' association in New York is suing two of its residents for parking their pickup truck in their own driveway. David and Arna Orlando of Manlius, NY, are facing a lawsuit from the Kimry Moor Homeowners Association for parking their black 2014 Ford F-150 pickup in their own driveway. The Orlandos own their home, but common areas such as their driveway are managed by their HOA, which limits what vehicles can park in the open. They only allow "private, passenger-type, pleasure automobiles" to park outside of a garage. David Orlando says his pickup is a personal passenger vehicle and that the rule is silly. He also feels he is being unfairly targeted. A Syracuse.com reporter drove around the Orlandos' neighborhood and saw another fullsize pickup parked in another driveway, along with a large van and SUV. The Orlandos said in court documents that the pickup is registered as a private vehicle and neither of them have commercial drivers' licenses. The lawsuit was filed in August 2013 and is still in the discovery phase. Depositions are up next. New York seems to have gone power-mad when it comes to regulating common driveway activities. In a Garden City, NY, neighborhood last year police were called when two men began washing a new Volkswagen "in public view", which was against a local ordinance. PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]
Wed, 19 Jun 2013PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
Long winter means most automakers won't curb summer shutdown
Sun, 18 May 2014A lot more happened during this latest brutal winter than days of snow and Netflix binges. Automotive sales took a battering. After all, going out car shopping when it's eleventy-billion degrees below zero isn't a good time.
Because of this Old Man Winter-induced sales slump, inventories are abnormally high as we head into the summer car buying season. That's led some analysts to predict that automakers will be more inclined to idle factories this summer, in a bid to trim some of the built-up inventory. Traditionally, American manufacturers offer up a two-week break in the middle of summer, although the burgeoning sales of the past few years have seen this practice become less popular.
"We're likely not going to see an acceleration this year," Jeff Schuster, a senior vice president at LMC Automotive, told The Detroit News. "We'll see production increases in 'pockets' but I don't know if it will be as widespread as in recent years."
