Selling our 2008 Ford Escape Limited 4x4. Our family is the 2nd owner, purchased at Sunset (Peoria) Ford, Peoria, AZ in late 2008 with 12,000 miles on it.
It has fresh paint on left front clip, professionally repaired. We swiped a pole in a parking garage in Jan 2011. The bad- Wrinkled rear bumper corner, no structural damage (pictured). Very small tear in middle of back seat (pictured). 18 inch minor scratch on right rear door. Windshield washer hose is disconnected from pump (just haven't got around to fixing it-pump works). The good- Four wheel drive with traction control, well optioned, 3.0 V-6, 104,500 miles. Five star crash safety rating. Gets just under 20 mpg in town and about 23-25 mpg on the highway. Leather, alloy wheels, power everything, 6 disc cd/mp3 player, optional side curtain air bags, keyless entry and keyless code pad on drivers door. Super clean, I have maintenance records, it has been regularly serviced. All factory scheduled service has been done at recommended intervals. No leaks drips noises or issues. The only aftermarket additions are molded rubber floor mats and window tint. 40K miles- New transmission cooler-flush-service (cooler was leaking/Ford factory recall issue). 52K miles- Intake/throttle body service 70K miles - New Michelin LTX MS tires (these are 70,000+ mile tires, have about 40,000 mi left). 92k miles- New brakes, rotors, trans flush, brake fluid flush, new oil pan and valve cover gaskets. 98k miles- New rear window regulators. 99k miles- New spark plugs, throttle body service, tune up, motor mount and windshield. 100k miles- New battery. I'm sure I'm missing some things but this car is ready for a new driver. We're just ready for something a little bigger. Non-smoking, adult owned. It has always been garaged at work and at home, has never seen snow and definitely has not been abused. Private party sale, no sales tax. Clear title in hand. I reserve the right to end this listing early as the car is also for sale locally. |

Riding along in Ford's bonkers Fiesta ST Global RallyCross car [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013
The Mountune-worked Fiesta ST GRC does 0-to-60 mph in 1.9 seconds.
On any given day, and every single weekend, there's at least one parking in the country invaded by manufacturer and team trucks. The be-chromed beasts and their 53-foot trailers are slotted into rows, men and women decorate the lot with orange cones to mark the invisible tracery of a temporary track, cars get unloaded, crews fret over them. The ritual can be as beautiful as the sunrise to those with enthusiast hearts, but it's just as common.

NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall
Tue, Apr 7 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.
