Wheelchair Van on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
For sale is a 1997 Ford conversion van that in our opinion is in fair condition cosmetically and good condition mechanically. Previous to our ownership of it, the van had been gone through by a trusted local mechanic shop. We were told they added new front brake pads.
We have driven the van only short distances such as to school and back and have not put many miles on it We have had the rear A/C fan replaced with a brand new one and the wheel chair lift has had one of its electric motors professionally rebuilt. It should be noted as for the wheelchair lift, on occasion the remote button to lower the lift to the ground works intermittently and more often than not one must use the button inside the van to accomplish the lowering process. This has not been too much of an issue as the lift itself has been reliable. The van is being sold as is and we do not know the history of it. It drives well considering it is a large and heavy vehicle. The motor is a V8 and runs strong. The transmission is automatic and shifts as it should. The battery is in good condition. The tires hold air and have some tread left. This van may require maintenance as any used vehicle and is being sold as is. It has aluminum wheels and room to stand up inside (depending on your height) as well as mood lighting and a tv and vcr which we have never used so it is unknown whether they work or not. It has chrome bumpers and a trailer hitch and factory tinted privacy glass in the rear. The van comes with two additional captains chairs that are not mounted. It has an electric couch seat in the back that reclines. It has an aftermarket stereo in the dash. The carpet has some oil stains from the lift. All things considered it is a decent van and serves its purpose well. It has been our experience that to find a van such as this and at this price does not happen very often. I noticed in the auto check report, now that it is available, which describes a minor accident with a parked vehicle. So I looked over the van and there is a small dent behind the right rear wheel. Not very noticeable though as we did not see it till now. Thank you. |

Ford Mustang 50th anniversary edition brings in $170k
Tue, 30 Sep 2014Just the other day, we reported on the first Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat selling for a whopping $825,000 at auction. But impressive as that sum was, the Challenger wasn't the only sought-after modern muscle car to cross the Barrett-Jackson auction block in Las Vegas this past weekend. So did this rare Ford Mustang.
The last of 1,964 special-edition 50 Years Limited Edition pony cars sold for a princely $170,000, with proceeds benefiting the Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute, a branch of the Henry Ford Health System.
The pony car in question is based on the 2015 Ford Mustang GT and upgrades with a performance package and nearly every option on the book, along with a unique appearance package to set it apart in celebration of the Mustang's 50th anniversary. It's available in two exclusive shades - Wimbledon white or Kona blue - with either a manual or automatic transmission. Only 1,964 highly symbolic examples were to be built, and this was the last of them.
FBI Seizes Computers, Listening Devices From Ford Headquarters
Fri, Jul 25 2014FBI agents searched Ford Motor Company's headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, this month as part of an investigation into possible corporate espionage. Eight devices, along with documents, computers and financial records, were among the items seized by federal agents on July 11, according to documents obtained by The Detroit News. The FBI searched Leach's home on June 20 and seized more than two dozen items in that search, Reuters reported. Former engineer Sharon Leach, a 17-year Ford veteran of company, was fired last month, according to The News, which first reported the story. She admitted to placing recording devices under conference tables before meetings. She told Ford security she used the recordings to assist in her meeting notes. She couldn't remove the devices after meetings without drawing attention to herself, leaving the devices to record other meetings. Leach has not been charged for any wrongdoing. Former federal prosecutor and Wayne State University law professor Peter Henning told The News that using a search warrant, rather than a subpoena, shows the FBI suspects more employees could be implicated. "If it's an economic espionage case or trade-secrets case, that rarely involves one individual," Henning told The Detroit News. "So the concern is if you send a subpoena and ask for recording devices, those things can be erased." Leach, Ford and the FBI declined to comment on the investigation. NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA.
