Ford E-250 4x4 Quigley's One Ton 8 Passenger Van 5.4 Triton Gas on 2040-cars
Springfield, Illinois, United States
Well maintained 5.4 Triton gas with 133k miles. Runs smooth, has no leaks, knocks, or smoke. I took this van on multiple long trips, 24 hours plus, it drives straight and smooth, no pulls or vibrations. Has a tow pack with power brake controller and 12k lb hitch. Has newer tires, HD Cooper ATR 70% tread. Manual lock outs, cruise, tilt, power windows, rear windows pop out, power locks, CB, DVD in dash head unit with all updated sound with one sub. Has front and rear A/C (works great, ice cold). Comes with two 3 passenger bench seats in rear, so has lots of cargo space or could put a third row in to make a 12 passenger van. Ladder rack already mounted, but can remove if unwanted. No negatives under drive train other than 133k miles; exterior condition overall is good, has normal driver and passenger side rocker rust along with a rust spot above wheel well on rear passenger quarter. Has a couple dents, minor scratches, will make sure all areas are shown in photos. Overall paint and clear in good condition. Interior driver seat has tear covered with seat covers. There are a few pieces missing in the rear passenger area due to the previous use as a forest fire mobile command unit. Overall condition is good and clean. Willing to work with buyer on shipping once paid in full. Clear title in hand.

Auto critic calls out Corvette, Mustang and Cherokee faithful
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Most automotive purists fear change, but not without reason. Change, after all, did kill big-block V8s, along with most station wagons and manual transmissions. But change has also brought with it far more performance, safety and fuel economy - not to mention ridding the world of shag carpet interiors, bias-ply tires and those horrible motorized seatbelts of the early '90s.
By this time next year, the Chevy Corvette, Jeep Cherokee and next-generation Ford Mustang will all be on sale and will all, in some way, have angered or offended purists. To those critics, Mark Phelan of the Detroit Free Press is preemptively telling them to stop complaining - at least until they've all been driven. From the Corvette's square taillights and the Cherokee's radical nose to whatever pony car purists will harp on the 2015 Mustang for, Phelan's column points out the positives of automotive evolution and the negatives of staying the course for too long. That's fair enough, but do you think Phelan is on point, or all wet? Head on over to the Detroit Free Press to read his words, then have your say in Comments.
Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Ford UK exec says EVs are a good way to lose a fortune
Wed, Mar 19 2014Stateside, Ford execs are quick to point out the automaker's expansion in the plug-in sector. And despite a minimal presence in the pure EV space, the Blue Oval has been promoting its plug-in vehicles as part of an overall effort to boost fleetwide fuel economy. Too bad the company's UK chief didn't get the memo. There's "no point in us getting behind [EVs] and losing a fortune" - Ford's Mark Ovenden Mark Ovenden, speaking rather frankly at the Geneva Motor Show recently, said he didn't have real high hopes for substantial electric-vehicle adoption and said the company's money was better spent on smaller gas- and diesel-powered engines, the UK's Daily Mail says. Ovenden said of EV development that there was "no point in us getting behind it and losing a fortune," adding that his goal was to have variants of Ford's EcoBoost engine in 40 percent of the company's vehicles. Ford has about a 15-percent market share in the UK. The UK doesn't appear to be as kind to the EV as the US. Nissan last year cut the price of its all-electric Leaf there last year by about $4,000, while the company rolled out a promotion for the Leaf late last year, including allowing Leaf drivers to borrow a gas- or diesel-powered Nissan for free for as long as two weeks a year during the first three years of Leaf ownership. In the US, Ford sold just 229 Ford Focus Electrics during the first two months of the year after moving 1,738 units in 2013.
