4 Wheel Drive Econoline ClubWagon E-350 one ton...I owned this truck for 12 years now and about 10 years ago was when I did the 4WD conversion. I used a donor Quigley van that was rolled over and I put the drive train under the family van...It is a head turner and I'm going to miss that.
I have upgraded the steering linkage to get rid of the typical Ford wander. When it was time for a new radiator I installed a new 3 row Alumium. On a hot summer day I towed our 8500 lb skidsteer for 100 miles with the A/C on and the temp remained a perfect 195 degrees....a trailer brake controller is mounted in the dash and in the rear is a 2" receiver, a round 7 way and a flat 4 way plug.
The 5.8 liter V-8 runs sweet...it has plenty of power and runs smooth and quiet...The truck has 180,xxx miles and I use it when ever so that might be a little higher at time of purchase..the trans shifts as it should. I am the 3rd owner..the 2nd owner stated he had the trans redone with a new converter at 100,000 miles..the transfercase operates as it should...the locking hubs are 2 yr old WARN hubs and engage and disengage smoothly. During the conversion the truck received new u-joints, seals, brakes and brake lines and shocks...the rears and the springs were painted black...that was 10 years ago so it all could use a touch up...BUT the miles I do were maybe 2,000 a year as it is our 3rd (spare) vehicle..(state inspection records to prove it)..an oversize exhaust runs thru a new CAT and exits the stock location...the rear tires have about 500 miles on them...the fronts maybe 2,000 or so..the rims are alumium 8 lug and were sanded and painted.
Issues: I have taken pics of the rust bubbles and the rusted spot in front of the rear wheel...( skin only, wheel well looks intact)...it's a mear $60.00 for the patch panel but like the rest of my projects I just never get the time...the truck has REAR A/C that works great (last time I used it..summer 2012) ..the REAR HEAT does NOT work...the water lines to the rear heater core are rusted out. Another "was gonna do project" that I never got to..I thought of using Pex tubing that I have left over from my home remodel..........ALSO, the anti lock brake light has been on since the conversion, (donor truck was a cargo van with rear anti lock, my pass van has 4 wheel anti lock). last year the airbag light started to flash a code...the right front sensor is bad...still flashing because I'm not paying $260.00 for one.. HERE IN NY STATE the antilock brakes and the air bag issue is NOT part of the yearly inspection...check your State Laws and offer accordindingly if you have to fix these items.

The List #0178: Attend Rally School
Tue, Apr 7 2015Jessi and Patrick attend Team O'Neil Rally School in Dalton, NH, to learn how to shred in the snow. Veteran instructor and school founder Tim O'Neil demonstrates left-foot braking, slalom techniques, turning, proper ways to blip the throttle and more in this episode. They get behind the wheel of modern Ford Fiestas with front-wheel drive and a vintage Audi Quattro with all-wheel drive. They catch on quickly, and O'Neil tells Patrick: "Tell your grandchildren you are a rally driver." Watch as our hosts check "attend rally school" off their list. Have an RSS feed? 2014 Ford Fiesta ST priced from $21,400* [w/poll]
Tue, 26 Feb 2013The 2014 model year brings a whole host of changes to Ford's Fiesta B-Segment fighter, the most important of which (to our enthusiast eyes, anyway) is the addition of a potent new ST model. The US-spec hot hatch was first shown at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show last November, and thanks to Ford's build-and-price site, we've now learned that the Fiesta ST will slide in at $21,400 when it goes on sale later this year (*not including $795 for destination).
Under the hood of the ST is a turbocharged 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline-four good for 197 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed manual transmission. Ford hasn't released performance data on its pint-sized puncher just yet, but know that these numbers make the Fiesta ST ever-so-slightly more powerful than the larger Volkswagen GTI while returning an estimated 34 miles per gallon on the highway.
Elsewhere in the lineup, the standard Fiesta also gets a smattering of improvements for the 2014 model year, including a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine and revised exterior styling. Pricing for the 2014 Fiesta sedan starts at $14,000, with the five-door model adding $600 to that number (again excluding the $795 destination fee).
Porsche, Jaguar continue dominance in 2015 JD Power APEAL study
Wed, Jul 22 2015The top of JD Power's 2015 APEAL Study has not changed much in the last year. Porsche remains No. 1 with Jaguar nipping at its heels, although both premium brands saw their overall score fall compared to 2014. For those that need a refresher, the APEAL Study looks at how "gratifying" a vehicle is to own and drive, rating cars and brands on a 1,000-point scale. The industry average for 2015 has increased from 794 to 798, while the total number of automakers that finished above the curve increased from 16 to 20. While Porsche and Jaguar finished at the top, their scores dropped eight and seven points, respectively, to 874 and 855. The top "non-premium" brand was Mini, which scored an impressive 825, up from 795. If the BMW-owned British marque is still a bit too premium for your tastes, last year's non-premium winner, Hyundai, did climb five points and is this year's runner up. At the opposite end of the scale, Smart sits at the very bottom of the rankings, with a score of 683 (it didn't appear on the 2014 rankings). Fiat also dropped, from fourth worst in 2014 to second worst in 2015, despite the 500 being named most appealing city car. Subaru made an impressive climb, from third worst to seventh, falling just 10 points shy of the industry average and two points south of the non-premium average. In the individual vehicle segments, eight brands earned multiple awards, with Ford, Chevrolet, and Porsche earning three apiece. Surprise segment victories included the new Ford Expedition, which beat out Chevy's popular Suburban. The Infiniti QX80 bested the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and Range Rover for best large luxury SUV, and the Dodge Challenger beat its muscle car rivals from Ford and Chevy. Most of the victories, though, were quite predictable. The Mazda6 and CX-5 took wins for the midsize sedan and compact SUV categories respectively, while the Volkswagen Golf captured the compact car win. The Ford F-150 won the large pickup category, while the Porsche Cayman was named most appealing compact premium sporty car.
