I love this van, so does my GF, and so do the kids. But moving forces sale. Perfect for a family of four or five, or for a rolling man-cave. Super comfy seats and a plush ride, yet great anti-roll suspension and brakes. Black exterior, tan interior, 16” really cool custom wheels, tires at about 62%, 128,100 on the clock. Still a child! 4.6 liter V8. Dual exhaust with just the right amount of guy rumble. The paint is big; it’s all over the thing, except where it’s not supposed to be. It has gold pin striping but some sections have peeled. I’ll let you decide if you care and want to remedy by peeling all of it or matching it. No cracks in any windows. Full-sized new spare on steel rim. All lighting works, has entry lighting on the running boards, and exterior lighting at the bottom of each front door. I can remove the images there if they scare you, but frankly it intimidates traffic and is a good thing. Trailer package with receiver and outlet. Side skirts (one small section on the driver’s front fender is missing). Interior features leather-trimmed seats, no rips or holes in any fabric or leather, eight-way power driver’s seat, four captains chairs, electric bench seat that retracts fully flat into a double bed (Very Nice), dust buster built in, two umbrellas with built-in holders, little cabinets all around, cup holders (of course) updated CD/radio that’s MP3-ready for plug or USB, with a remote, DVD player, VCR player, rear CD/radio, Five, count-them-five, wireless head sets; four are brand new (when the kids are watching TV it’s like my girl and I are traveling alone), front radio/CD/MP3-ready can be played out front speakers while TV is on through headset listening in the back. Also has four rear speakers for TV or front radio/CD (that six total). Updated 23” flat-screen TV (was 21”), with remote, floor mats, separate front and rear air and heat with separate fans, overhead reading lights for each seat and overhead HVAC vents, 120-volt converter with one outlet, disco ambient lighting in ceiling and top-edges. Retractable window shades on all rear windows, storage area behind bench seat (we fit luggage for two adults, three kids, in it for a three-week trip). Two keys, one key remote, and a new reprogrammable-electric combination lock on the driver’s door. The combination is… wait a minute, I can’t tell you that! When bought, the previous owner said he only used synthetic-mix oil, so I have too. No leaks or drips. 14 mpg, except out West it gets 15 mph (I think it likes big dry mountains.) 3.5 years remaining on 5-year battery warranty. I’ve only owned it for 17,000 miles, all highway miles, never been on a paper route with it. Ask me anything. It's also for sale locally, so don't hate me if it suddenly disappears. You arrange pick-up, unless you're within a reasonable distance (a couple hours from Western NC).

Ford's Mulally now said to be in lead for Microsoft CEO job

Sun, 29 Sep 2013

There have been rumors that Ford CEO Alan Mulally could assume the top job over at Microsoft, whose CEO, Steve Ballmer, will retire within the year. Mulally hasn't come out and said that he's considering moving to Microsoft after (or before) his contract with Ford through 2014 ends, but sources in the know say he's the front-runner to become the tech giant's CEO and has opened up to the idea more in recent weeks, AllThingsD reports.
Mulally is no stranger to Washington, where Microsoft is located, having worked in the state for Seattle-based Boeing Commercial Airplanes as CEO years ago. He also recently was an adviser to Ballmer in an effort to realign the company's management structure to help it become more competitive in a fast-changing computer hardware and software market. And when Ford developed its Sync digital interface, it tapped Microsoft to provide the operating system, Microsoft Auto. Perhaps the least crucial connection - but nonetheless an important one - is that Mulally still owns a house in the Seattle area, and it's been said he wants to return there, according to AllThingsD.
A main challenge Microsoft's next CEO will face is how to manage the company's numerous, fractured operations and, eventually, streamline them. But even on this front, Mulally has experience; after all, it was he who ushered in an era of global Ford vehicles, after the automaker had become complacent developing and selling vehicles by region leading up to the economic recession of 2008-2009.

10 most memorable cars and SUVs of 2019

Tue, Dec 24 2019

It's no surprise that a car reviewer will drive a large number of cars over the course of a year. Indeed, when the clock strikes midnight on Dec 31, I will have driven 75 new cars, trucks and SUV this year (and one old Peugeot) over the course of weekly evaluation loans and first drive events. That sure seems like a lot. Some definitely got more attention than others, and some came and went without leaving much of an impression – I completely forgot I drove a Kia Forte. Yet in the spirit of this day, I thought I'd pick the 10 that I would love to see under the Christmas tree tomorrow morning. You know, just in case you were looking to get me something. I'll also throw in a couple disappointments that were memorable for the wrong reasons. They'd get sent back to the store on Boxing Day. Lexus LC 500 Pictured below and resplendent in its Flare Yellow metallic paint, the car that would reach highest on my list is the divine Lexus LC 500. As a devout lover of GT cars, the LC ticks all the boxes. Muscular and characterful engine? V8, check. Beautifully made and memorable interior? It's gorgeous, to hell with Remote Touch. Check. Comfortable and reasonably practical? Superb seats and, uh, yeah. Makes me want to stand there and stare at it? You bet. Though I long figured my heart would say LC but my head "Porsche 911," after this go-around, that's no longer the case. LC, pretty please. 2020-lexus-lc500-f34-2 View 19 Photos Polestar 1 I actually feel lucky that I got to drive the Polestar 1. Only 150 will be produced each year, and it's a far more special thing than it would initially appear. And that's despite initially appearing to be a beautiful, classic two-door GT car with a roof so rakish it's only possible because it's made of carbon fiber. That itÂ’s a massively powerful plug-in hybrid with more all-electric range than any other PHEV is a thick dollop of whipped cream on a slice of Toscakaka. You know, Swedish dessert, Swedish car. Fine, I'll stick to Ikea references.  Polestar1_Launch_SanFrancisco-0014 View 44 Photos Volvo V60 Cross Country Speaking of Sweden, did I drive this car off the road there? Sure did! And despite this, the V60 Cross Country scratches that certain wagon itch and looks sensational to boot. I wish it were available with the T8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, but it's best not to get greedy at Christmas.

Nuclear-powered concept cars from the Atomic Age

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

In the 1950s and early 60s, the dawn of nuclear power was supposed to lead to a limitless consumer culture, a world of flying cars and autonomous kitchens all powered by clean energy. In Europe, it offered the then-limping continent a cheap, inexhaustible supply of power after years of rationing and infrastructure damage brought on by two World Wars.
The development of nuclear-powered submarines and ships during the 1940s and 50s led car designers to begin conceptualizing atomic vehicles. Fueled by a consistent reaction, these cars would theoretically produce no harmful byproducts and rarely need to refuel. Combining these vehicles with the new interstate system presented amazing potential for American mobility.
But the fantasy soon faded. There were just too many problems with the realities of nuclear power. For starters, the powerplant would be too small to attain a reaction unless the car contained weapons-grade atomic materials. Doing so would mean every fender-bender could result in a minor nuclear holocaust. Additionally, many of the designers assumed a lightweight shielding material or even forcefields would eventually be invented (they still haven't) to protect passengers from harmful radiation. Analyses of the atomic car concept at the time determined that a 50-ton lead barrier would be necessary to prevent exposure.
