Getting sick and tired of the up and down ridiculous gas prices??  With the price of gas skyrocketing yet again, there's no better time to buy an alternative fuel vehicle.  Here is your chance to own a hard to find 2003 Ford E250 Dedicated CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Cargo van.  Save big $$$ with natural gas, while helping clean up the environment.  If you have a business, this vehicle can save you a substantial amount on fuel costs! This is a factory CNG package, NOT an aftermarket retrofit.  This is a dedicated CNG vehicle and ONLY runs on CNG.

I am a CSA certified CNG cylinder inspector.  I have been dealing in CNG vehicles for 7+ years.  All cylinders are inspected for damage in accordance with 3yr/36,000 mile guidelines so bid with confidence.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions as I am always happy to assist.  631-871-3459 (Seth).

CNG Specs:

Compressed Natural Gas Tank Capacity: Approximately 18.5 US Gallons Gasoline Equivalent(GGE) @3600 psi 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). Average CNG range approx 220-280 miles.  Exp. date 2016

·  This hard to find 2003 Ford E250 Dedicated Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Cargo van.  Equipped with the reliable and powerful 5.4L Triton V8 engine and automatic transmission.  This is a one owner fleet maintained utility vehicle.  ONLY 77K Miles! BEWARE of people selling vehicles with untested/unfilled or empty CNG systems.  CNG system functions.  This vehicle has been filled with CNG and test driven 20+ miles.  This vehicle is super economical to drive with CNG priced under $1.00 a gal in many areas.  State tax credit still available (Utah and other states that offer tax credits).

What is CNG???

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, is one of nature's best untapped energy sources.  Unlike fossil fuels, it is constantly produced by the earth and can also me synthesized through chemical processes.  Cyber_lot. The technology has been around for decades but until recently has been kept in the closet by big oil!  It is one of the fastest growing alternative fuel sources and unlike biodiesel and ethanol (E85), is a viable replacement for petroleum.  Within the next 10 years 90% of gov't fleets will be CNG and civilian population will follow over the next 20 yrs.

Why should I buy a CNG/Bi Fuel Vehicle?

  • SAVE MONEY!  CNG is about 1/3 less than reguar unleaded and more stable in price.  AS LOW AS 99 CENTS PER GAL IN SOME AREAS!
  • CNG burns with practically no emissions compared to petroleum fuel so each mile you drive helps the environment....THINK GREEN
  • CNG is safer (less volatile) than gasoline as it has a higher ignition temp, 1200 deg vs 800 deg.
  • CNG poses little if any environment risk of contamination and in the event of an accident where tanks are breached, it evaporates into the air with no spill Cyber_lot
  • CNG fill stations are growing more and more each day.  Check the links below for fill station locations across the US.
  • You can fill up at home using a Phil Fuelmaker device if you have a natural gas line.  Cyber_lot No more trips to the gas station.  Tax deductible.
  • Most states allow you to drive solo in the HOV lane.
  • CNG is not corrosive like gasoline and wears MUCH easier on a motor.  Most CNG fueled engines require oil changes less frequently and sparkplugs last almost forever.  Overall engine life is usually significantly extended.  Cyber_lot
  • Unlike hybrid electric/gas cars, there are no costly batteries ($6000) to replace
  • Unlike hybrid electric vehicles, the CNG drivetrain is the same as the gasoline counterpart and can be serviced by most mechanics.  Cyber_lot.  Only the CNG fuel system requires specially trained service technicians.
  • There may be tax credits/deductions available for CNG vehicle owners and for the purchase of a Phil Fuelmaker (check with IRS and state tax authorities)
  • Be the first person in your town to sport a CNG ride.  Cyber_lot Almost always a conversation starter when you open the trunk!

Condition

Drivetrain

Engine starts up and runs strong.  Only 77k miles. NO knocks, NO smoke, NO dripping engine leaks.  Underside of engine is dry as you can see in the pics.  Transmission shifts into and through all gears as it should.  Cruises at highway speed.  At idle there is an occasional rattle against the floor from the exhaust I believe.  Nothing falling off or anything major, just mentioning it.  The 5.4L Triton V8 is one of the most durable and efficient 8cyl engines Ford produced and should easily last 300K+ miles with proper maintenance.  This was a fleet maintained vehicle with regular servicing, including oil changes at proper intervals.

Exterior

Paint has most of its factory shine as you can see.  No major/large dents or rot on the body.  There are dings, scrapes, scratches, and minor blemishes all around the body. Most of the scratches were from the removal of decals.  The edge of the driver side door and fender is a little wrinkled (see pic).  Door opens and closes fine.  Overall the body is straight.   Please keep in mind this is not a showroom new but in average condition for a work van and a vehicle of this age.

Interior

Interior is in fair condition with average wear.  There is some wear in the fabric on the left edge of the driver seat.  Rubber floor is in good condition with no major or excessive wear.  There are some scuffs on the plastic interior panels, mostly on the engine cover, as you can see in the pics.  The volume button on the radio is loose.  Interior is fresh and clean and has been detailed.  A/C blows cold and heat blows hot.

Wheels and Tires

·  Tires have approx 50%+ tread remaining.  Matching set of factory Ford hubcaps.

CNG System

I have fueled up with CNG and not observed any leaks.  Everything looks to be in order and system holds pressure as it should.

I have test driven this vehicle over 20 miles.  I have tried to describe the condition to the best of my ability but this is merely a guideline and repairs may be required.  I do recommend having this vehicle shipped due to the limited availability of CNG stations in some areas.  As I recommend to all my customers, you should have your mechanic look over any newly purchased vehicle before extensive use.  I have tried to list as many details about this vehicle as I can, including known defects.  There may be deficiencies that I am not aware of so buyers are encouraged to inspect in person.  FAILURE OF PROSPECTIVE BUYERS TO INSPECT VEHICLE OR ASK FOR CLARIFICATION ON CONDITION WILL NOT CONSTITUTE NON-DISCLOSURE OF DEFECTS OR CONDITION ON SELLERS PART.  This was previously a fleet/lease vehicle and may have greater wear and tear than private vehicles.  If you are local, I encourage and welcome you to come down and test drive the car for yourself or have an independent inspection completed PRIOR to bidding.  There will be no price adjustments or cancellation of sale for failure to do so.  I am happy to answer any questions so feel free to e-mail me or call.

·  Payment Details

A non-refundable deposit in the amount of $500.00 must be made via PayPal within 24 hrs of auction's close.  Balance to be paid within 3 days via certified/cashier's check from a verifiable institution, US postal money order (no other's will be accepted due to counterfeit MO's going around), or cash (in person only, DO NOT mail cash).  No personal checks.  A prep fee of $150.00 will be added to the winning bid price.  Item must be picked up within 10 days of auction's close unless you make other arrangements with me.  I am flexible and happy to accommodate you.  If not, buyer agrees to pay $20/day storage.  Sorry but I can not have vehicles sitting here for weeks or months.  IF DEPOSIT IS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN 24 HRS OR PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED WITHIN 3 DAYS, VEHICLE WILL BE RE-LISTED OR SOLD TO NEXT BIDDER.  Cyber_lot.

Temp/transit tags can be obtained from the local DMV.

All the details on Plug In 2014 electric vehicle conference you could ever want

Wed, Aug 6 2014

One of the best parts of the Plug In 2014 Conference in San Jose, CA last week was getting to listen in on thoughts about the state of the plug-in vehicle industry from people who have been involved with it for ages. They bristle when you call them the "Old Guard" (learned that one the hard way), but these are the people who have been through a number of ups and downs with plug-in vehicles, so they've got what we call perspective. Their knowledge was on full display in the three plenary sessions, which the Plug In Conference organizers have given us permission to share with you. Each is at least 90 minutes long, so make sure to set some time aside to enjoy the discussions after you download them (any help with making them streamable would be appreciated). Follow us below to see what we've got to offer. Opening Plenary (audio link). "The Road Ahead – Delivering on a Vision for Sustainable Transportation." Moderated by Mark Duvall (director of energy utilization at EPRI, the Electric Power Research Institute, and a long-time EV advocate), this panel featured: Jack Broadbent, Executive Officer / APCO, Bay Area Air Quality Management District Pat Romano, President & Chief Executive Officer, ChargePoint, Inc. Aaron Johnson, Senior Director, Customer Programs, Pacific Gas and Electric Company Brendan Jones, Director, EV Sales Operations & Infrastructure Deployment, Nissan North America, Inc. David W. Cash, Commissioner, MassDEP Dan Sperling, Director, Institute of Transportation Studies, University of California, Davis Highlights: Educating drivers to "get over the gas station" is a key strategy, how Level 2 and DC Fast Charging are really "a new paradigm," that there have been well over 214,000 EVs sold in US as of July 2014 and where Nissan sees huge potential for more EV sales (Northeast US and medium-size cities like St. Louis and Pittsburgh). Wednesday Morning Plenary (audio link). "Getting to the Mass Market – A Discussion of Ideas for Widespread PEV Adoption." Moderated by John Gartner, research director for smart transportation at Navigant Research.

Car-crazy 5-year-old boy writes automakers for treasures, gets big response

Fri, Jan 25 2019

Part of the beauty of children is that they can find worth in something adults might deem unworthy or overlook entirely. Five-year-old Patch Hurty didn't see garbage or a broken piece of a car when he spotted a Ford badge lying on the side of a road. He saw an artifact, a souvenir, a start to a collection he could only dream of. Ezra Dyer of Popular Mechanics tells the story of Patch and his quest to turn that one lost badge into a museum of manufacturer logos. According to the article, Hurty is a car fanatic through and through, even using car names as a way of learning to read. After finding the Ford badge near his Connecticut home, he and his mom put together a plan to reach out to dozens of automakers, confessing his love of things on four wheels. In each letter, Patch assembled a picture of himself standing next to one of the cars, and a penny to pay for whatever he hoped was sent his way. The response was unexpectedly and overwhelmingly positive. Of the more than 50 letters he sent out, including to obscure or defunct companies such as Bugatti, Suzuki, and Saturn, a majority responded with warm notes and some type of souvenir. Two of the coolest responses came from Lincoln and Bentley. Lincoln sent a sketch of a Continental (all car lovers enjoy drawing cars, right?), and Bentley sent a wheel center cap. How awesome is that? The story reminds us of something that can easily be lost in all of the negativity involved with the auto industry: Everybody is in this because of a common infatuation with automobiles. For more details on the souvenirs Patch received and accompanying photos, read the rest of the story. Related Video: News Source: Popular Mechanics Read This Bentley Bugatti Ford Lincoln Saturn Suzuki
