Selling our shop van. It is the classic Rusty but Trusty vehicle.
We have owned and used the van for about a year, thoroughly testing both its 1-ton carrying capacity, and its substantial V-10 engine hauling abilities.
Please notice the V-10. This engine is strong and powerful, carried many loads through the hills of Pennsylvania for us with no problems!
Mechanically, the van is great. Engine starts right up, good oil pressure, runs cool. Transmission shifts smoothly and positively.
Previous owner used it to drive his family from Michigan to Montana for family trips frequently.
We have used it for local trips to Home Depot, and have taken it from Michigan to the Washington DC about 8 times.
I would not hesitate to drive this van anywhere, it really runs great.
BUT, it is not for the feint of heart:
It is rusty. It is rusty everywhere, body and frame. Michigan road salt has taken a toll.
There are dents in pretty much all body panels.
Windshield has 3 stone chips and a running crack. When you replace the windshield, that will probably fix the water leak above the passenger side dash.
I took a picture of the dash while running at idle at a stop light. You can see that all gauges look good.
You can also see that the airbag light is on. Not sure what this means, but I suggest wearing a seatbelt and driving accordingly.
Seats are stained and worn. But, not horrible.
There is one rear seat. It is actually one of the middle seats, but we have it sort of half latched right behind the drivers seats.
These vans are AWESOME as work trucks. There is 13 FEET of cargo length from back doors to console, between the seats. 11" clear to back of front seats. Over 14' for long skinny things that will slide under passenger seat! The longest thing we carried in it was actually 14'-6, and it sort of went diagonally up and over the passenger seat. (see note about windshield crack, above)
This van is definitely not too easy on the eyes, but it will carry anything you want to put in it, haul anything you want to tow behind it, and it won't let you down. It has been a very reliable vehicle for us.
If my reserve price of $7.00 is met, I will include a 2003 Rand McNally American Road Atlas! It is missing its cover, but still works.
I spent all 8 of my quarters just vacuuming the out the interior, so I did not get a chance to wash the exterior. But, I wouldn't have been able to wash all the ugly off anyway.
Please ask any question that I have not addressed here.
If you would like to Fly in and Drive Away, I can meet you at the Kalamazoo Michigan airport (AZO), otherwise, depending on what it sells for, I could meet you at Chicago or Detroit airports.
You may, of course, just pick it up at our shop in Kalamazoo.

Ford offering factory-spec EcoBoost reflashes that don't void warranty*
Sat, Dec 27 2014Buy a supercharger or cold-air kit from Ford Racing and a Performance Calibration handset comes with it to reset the ECU for the upgrade. Now Ford Racing is offering the ProCal handset a la carte for $595, allowing you to reflash the ECU on your EcoBoost-equipped ride to extract more of its inherent capabilities without any additional upgrades. It gives you control of variables such as throttle response, idle speed and turbo wastegate control, among others. As for that warranty asterisk, the press release says enthusiasts can up the power "while maintaining the Ford-backed limited warranty." However Ford Motor Co. and Ford Racing are separate entities, and, best we can tell, when you reflash the ECU, your Ford warranty gets supplanted by the Ford Racing warranty. Say you bought a 2014 Ford, that means your five-year, 60,000-mile warranty becomes Ford Racing's three-year, 36,000-mile warranty, if we're reading the fine print correctly. If you have an older car and have driven more than 36,000 miles, then your warranty options are kaput, at least as far as a Ford in-house option. If have warranty concerns, you might also want to consider having a dealer perform the reflash, or at least ask about it. Once you've got past the small print, what about the numbers? At the moment Ford Racing offers tunes for the 2.0-liter EcoBoost in the Focus ST and the 1.6-liter EcoBoost in the Fiesta ST, and we're told there's a 90-pound-foot boost in torque at the crank after you've pressed the right buttons. Anecdotal evidence from a commenter at Road & Track says he went from 252 horsepower at the flywheel to 254 hp at the wheels, and 272 lb-ft at the flywheel to 354 lb-ft at the wheels, but we can't be sure that his adjustments were within Ford Racing specs. Your mileage, naturally, may vary. What about custom numbers for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost in the 2015 Ford Mustang? They aren't ready yet, but we're told we'll get something by the end of next year. Amazon looking to bring Kindle to your next car?
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Maybe so. The online retailer and digital media monolith recently announced the Amazon Cloud Player, an application for Ford Sync that allows users to stream media from their Amazon Cloud account directly to a Ford vehicle. This foray into automotive technology got the minds at Gigaom.com thinking about what could be next for Amazon. As Kevin Fitchard writes, the logical step is to make audio versions of your Kindle library selections available in your car. As he points out, Amazon has already laid the groundwork for such a move.
Amazon pulled the sheets back on Whispersync for Voice last year. The tech pairs ebooks with an Audible book for a small extra fee, allowing users to either read along with a narrator or switch between audio and text versions on command. Fitchard says it wouldn't be some great leap to apply the same principles to a car, where voice recognition software would allow users to pause or select chapters without ever taking their eyes off of the road.
It all sounds just fine to us, but Amazon hasn't said a thing about such a move. Still, we wouldn't be surprised to see the company come down this road in the near future just the same.
Ford hiring 800 more salaried workers than originally expected
Wed, 24 Jul 2013Ford is on a roll this year, with excellent quarterly earnings and better-than-expected vehicle sales leading to 800 more job opportunities with the Blue Oval. In January, Ford announced that it wanted to hire 2,200 salaried employees, but, since then, that figure has been revised to 3,000, representing a 36-percent increase over original projections. About 1,500 of those jobs remain, 80 percent of which are technical professional positions.
"Engineers and technical professionals are in as much demand as our cars, trucks and SUVs," says Felicia Fields, Ford Group Vice President for Human Resources. Helping to spur this job growth are increasing market share on both the West and East Coast and robust demand for the Ford Escape and F-150.
To find job candidates, Ford is reaching out to them via Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, in addition to the company's corporate career site. The Blue Oval is also ramping up its presence on college campuses.
