This NO RESERVE auction is for a VERY well maintained SHORT WHEELBASE 1988 Ford E-150 conversion van. 6 cyl, auto, ps. pb. aftermarket cruise (not sure if cruise works, he doesnt remember), very cold a/c.
This van has always belonged to seniors, and has never been abused. Oil + filter changes every 1500 miles.
In the last 2 years heres some of what has been replaced or rebuilt: New steering box, complete brakes (calipers + rotors too), bearings, shocks, tires, cd stereo + 4 speakers, hundreds $$ in a/c work, all filters, full tune up, exhaust, radiator, waterpump, belts, tie rod + ends, to much to list. Over $3000 recently invested.  The van is presently insured + registered and stored in a garage in New Jersey since December 17. My dad cant drive anymore, but he starts it and moves it back and forth once a week. It runs GREAT, the a/c works GREAT, trans shifts PERFECTLY, interior is VERY clean, seats like new, body has  a 2" dent behind the corner of back bumper. Hes invested more in upgrades and repairs, then we are asking for the van.
You can get in this van and drive to Alaska with NO worries whatsoever. If not sold, I will be driving it back to Nevada sometime between May + July.
We have recently also added a blue cloth engine cover and a rear door chrome rim spare tire cover.
Van is also for sale locally and on Auto Trader, so it could be sold at any time.

Ford finally issues recall for 230K minivans over rust problems

Sun, 10 Mar 2013

The rust issue in the rear wheel wells of 2004-2007 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans has finally led to a recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation into the matter in 2011, said investigation being upgraded to an engineering analysis a year later while NHTSA tried to figure out how many model years should be included in the assessment.
Ford has decided to recall all of the 230,000 minivans potentially affected, namely those sold in salt-belt states and countries like Canada. The excess rust in the rear wheel wells was also able to prevent the third-row seats from locking to the floor of the minivan. To repair the problem, owners can take their minivans to dealers, and the dealers will place new panels in the wheel wells, replace the third-row seat mounting brackets and relocate the latches to an area away from any corrosion.
Ford says it will begin notifying owners during the last week of March.

Ford builds Lightweight Concept with Fusion shell [w/video]

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

It's a fairly well known fact that removing weight from a car is essentially a panacea for many of the modern automobiles problems. Does it handle like crap? Remove weight. Underpowered? Don't add power; trim the fat. Need to improve fuel economy? It's diet time.
Actually executing a major weight reduction program, though, much like with human beings, is no easy task. Unlike you or I, where motivation is the issue, the prohibitive measure in trimming a car's waistline is money. Lightweight materials are expensive, with carbon fiber and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic still primarily in the domain of higher end vehicles. Even aluminum construction, pioneered on a mass-produced level by Audi and Jaguar, is only now starting to make its way into the mainstream, thanks to the upcoming Ford F-150.
With this concept, though, Ford is attempting to show that a mass-produced, lightweight vehicle isn't too far off. This is the Lightweight Concept, and while it may look like a Fusion, it weighs as much as a Fiesta. For reference, the lightest Fusion available to the public is the 3,323-pound, 2.5-liter model with a manual transmission. A manually equipped, 1.6-liter Fiesta, meanwhile, is just 2,537 pounds.

Enterprise working with renter's insurance to cover $47k Mustang stolen from its lot

Sat, 11 Jan 2014

There was more than a bit of public indigence following the recent story of Enterprise Rent-A-Car billing a customer $47,000 to replace a Ford Mustang GT Convertible stolen from a Nova Scotia lot. To recap: Kristen Cockerill rented the Mustang for two days, returned it to the lot on a Sunday and left the keys in a secure dropbox only for Enterprise employees to find the car gone the next day.
Despite Enterprise policies stating that customers are responsible for vehicles dropped on off-days, the company has admitted that the situation could've been handled a bit better.
In a recent statement, Enterprise has backed off the big-bill story, and claims to be working with Cockerill and her insurance company to resolve the issue. Further, the Enterprise general manager overseeing Nova Scotia has spoken with the harried renter, and apologized "for the way this claim was handled during the last few months."
