1973 Ford Econoline E-100 Supervan Custom Vanner 70's Bike Hauler Van on 2040-cars
Sparta, Illinois, United States
1973 Ford Econoline E-100 Van Supervan Resto/Custom about 3 years ago. Completely stripped, primed, and repainted. Nice two-tone metallic silver/grey paintwork with custom flames outlined in metallic orange. Bodywork on interior pocket bottoms of doors done in fiber glass. Patch panels (original from the 70's, so you know they were quality, thick panels) on Driver and Passenger door. Replaced Sliding door with a spare that had no windows to truly give it that cargo look. Barn doors in the back. Complete interior floor was sprayed with bedliner. Walls were insulated, (styrofoam type) and covered with masonite throughout. Made a half wall of the same on the driver side just in front of the rear wheel well; which houses the speakers. All walls and ceiling were painted black, with the intent to cover with Diamond tuck vinyl at a later date. Never got to it. This means theres still room for customization on your part. NOS Ford Truck Bench seat from the early 80's was placed along the driver side wall. Blue in color. No other seating in the rear. Leather bucket seats up front from a toyota Scion. They look great and are very comfortable. NEW crate 302 motor built to stock specs, attahced to a rebuilt AOD 4 speed transmission. This combination works and performs great. Can cruise at 70 mph all day long. NEW aluminum radiator keeps her cool. Offset tires to give it a little bit of a hotrod feel. Manual Air shocks in the rear to assist withthe ride while hauling bikes etc. Pictures truly reflect condition. The pic with the bubbles, I believe these to be bubbles in the paint and not rust. I tried collapsing them and couldnt. Feel free to contact me with questions: (618) 303-6007 For sale locally as well so I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Ford board OK with Mulally stepping down earlier
Fri, 06 Sep 2013Ford's board is open to CEO Alan Mulally stepping down before his planned departure in 2014, inside sources are telling Reuters. Ford's plan of succession, aside from who would be his actual successor, has been something approaching common knowledge - the 68-year-old former Boeing exec had plans to stay through 2014. This was recently confirmed by Mulally himself on Bloomberg Television and in Automotive News.
Motivation for the about-face comes from what Reuters calls a "growing confidence" in the current crop of Ford execs, led by Mark Fields. Fields, Ford's current chief operating officer, has been tipped as Mulally's ultimate successor, although he's far from the only person with eyes on Ford's top job. Normally, Ford's board saying they're open to an executive, that's done very well for the company, stepping down early would be nearly unremarkable. It's the timing of this announcement, though, that makes this a big piece of news.
Recently, Mulally has been the subject of rumors that he's interested in taking the CEO position at tech giant Microsoft. The Redmond, Washington-based company's CEO, Steve Ballmer, told the media in August that he'd be retiring in a year's time. The fires were stoked when tech website AllThingsD speculated that Mulally would take the top spot, despite denials from the man himself. Could Ford's current boss become the new top dog at Microsoft? Will Mark Fields replace him? Could recently departed Renault exec Carlos Tavares land at Ford in some capacity? Let us know what you think below in Comments.

'Born of a Blue Sky' brings the Amelia Island Concours to you
Fri, 03 May 2013The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has more clout every year and is getting a reputation as Pebble Beach minus the madness. Held in March this year, it celebrated Ducati and the 50-year anniversaries of Lamborghini, the Corvette Sting Ray, Porsche 911 and the Ford GT40.
Justin Lapriore was there, and seemingly everywhere, getting footage of the various wares on display on the lawns and the sand and the runway. The resulting video, Born of a Blue Sky, is a 16-minute survey of some of the finer sights and plenty of engine sounds. Check it out below.
