Cvpi P71 Crown Vic - Best Color Combo - New Interior - Every Available Option on 2040-cars

US $6,795.00
Year:2008 Mileage:113000

Austin, Texas, United States

Up for sale is a beautiful 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (CVPI) P71 Package with a Clear Texas Title in-hand.  This is a highly reliable, powerful, and economical (28 mpg HWY) car.  It has never left me stranded, starts on the first try every time, and does not leak.  It drives straight and smooth, the AC blows cold, and it is regularly detailed (I'm an ex-detailer).  The transmission is strong and crisp (zero slips in any gear).  The VIN is 2FAFP71V48X142816

This CVPI is finished out in one of the rarest, yet most desirable color combos, Medium Gray Metallic over Black.  I waited for months for this combo before purchasing this particular one.  This P71 was retired from active duty by a Georgia Sheriff's Department less than 6,000 miles ago (January 2013).  During that tenure, it was municipality maintained; now, currently professionally maintained and cleaned regularly.  Being a southern car (first Georgia, now Texas), there is no rust on this vehicle.  This car passed inspection last month with flying colors.

For the wear items, I estimate there is 50% life left on the tires (OEM Goodyears) and 60% left on the brakes.

There are no lights or police equipment in this vehicle. The spotlight and extra dome (ticket) light are legal.  The antennas are dummies and the other roof holes have been plugged with color-matched PVC plastic plugs.

This P71 is loaded with every available option at the time, including:
  • Kevlar-Lined Front Doors
  • Adjustable Pedals (power)
  • Tilt Wheel
  • Traction Control (very rare)
  • AM/FM/CD Player
  • Door Moldings (most are missing the front door moldings)
  • Interior Carpet & Floor Mats (most have vinyl)
The recent upgrades and repairs are:
  • New GoRhino! Push Bar
  • New Dashboard (no holes!)
  • New Vinyl Backseat
  • New Rear Door Panels
  • New Serpentine Belt & Tensioner
  • New Headlights & Turn Signals (from 2011 model)
  • Professionally Tinted Windows (15% front, 5% rear)
  • OEM Spare Tire (CVPI's don't come with spare tires)
  • Kicker 10" Subwoofer w/ MTX Amp
While this is a great example of a late-model P71, it is not perfect.  There are some areas that are worth noting.
  • New speedometer; last one died and needed replacement so the mileage reads incorrectly (reads 83,xxx versus actual of 113,xxx)
  • Needs 1 tire pressure and 1 ABS sensor (per pulling the codes)
  • Paint on rear 1/4 panel was repaired incorrectly (pictured); it isn't terrible, but it may bother some
  • There are some dings on the car, mainly from the light bar on the roof
  • Driver's seat has a tear from officer's pistol/holster; easily recovered or replaced
  • Very slight exhaust manifold leak when cold (very common in these cars); goes away after car is warm
Please review all of the pictures thoroughly and ask any questions you may have.  I tried to be as honest as I could with this description.  This car has served me well for the past 18 months.  Shortly after purchasing, I began working from home (hence the low mileage since purchasing) and no longer have a need for two vehicles.  It will be hard to part with-as the car is reliable, comfortable, and strong.  It provided free security for my home and neighbors, just from sitting in the driveway.  These cars go for 300k+ miles when used as taxis and I have no doubt that this will be one of those examples.

Ford's official Euro aftermarket partner Mountune coming to US

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Now that we're getting a steady stream of Ford's European offerings, the aftermarket world is finally starting to catch up as well. UK-based aftermarket tuning company, Mountune has just announced that it will be setting up shop in California to provide high-performance and racing parts for Ford vehicles including the Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Mountune lays claim to being Ford's "official European tuning partner," and US buyers will soon have access to these parts through Ford dealerships and with a Ford Racing warranty. Speaking of Ford Racing, Mountune also says that it will be working with Ford's in-house team to develop future components for both street and track. There are no specifics as of yet for which products will be offered here, but the company plans to launch a US-specific website later this month with more information.

Ford F-450 claims best-in-class towing, company abandons practice of removing items to boost payload number

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

The ongoing heavy-duty truck battle between Ford and Ram is showing no signs of slowing down. The Blue Oval is trying to remove at least one point of contention between the two brands by testing its 2015 F-450 Super Duty using the Society of Automotive Engineers J2807 towing standard, which Ram also uses. In the new evaluation, the F-450 is rated at a max towing capacity of 31,200 pounds. That's an identical amount as under Ford's own, previous test.
"We leave no doubt with customers that the F-450 pickup truck has best-in-class towing of 31,200 pounds - whether tested using our own internal towing standards or SAE J2807," said Raj Nair, Ford group vice president for Global Product Development, in the company's release.
At the same time, Ford is also changing how it calculates the F-450's payload. Instead of using its minimum curb weight as before, the brand is now using the truck's base curb weight. The revision lowers the pickup's rating to 5,300 pounds, compared to 5,450 pounds previously. The company said in its announcement that the reason for this is "aligning its payload rating practices with other manufacturers to make it easier for customers to compare vehicles." General Motors made a similar switch for its pickups in August.

Ringbrothers shows off Coyote-powered 1968 Mercury Cougar

Thu, Feb 25 2021

We'll openly admit that not every SEMA build is our cup of tea. But this? A tastefully resto-modded 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 460-horsepower Ford Mustang V8? Yeah, this is right in our wheelhouse. Sadly, there was no in-pwerson SEMA show in 2020, so we missed out on gems like this one. SEMA or no SEMA, the aftermarket carries on, and co-owners Jim and Mike Ring of Ringbrothers (get it?) saw no reason to let their time and effort go to waste.  When they're not building wild customs (see: 1,100-horsepower 1972 AMC Javelin AMX) or more subtle showcases (such as this Cougar or their 1971 K5 Chevy Blazer build from 2018), the folks at Ringbrothers crank out factory reproduction parts, whether for old-fashioned restoration or modification purposes. While '60s muscle cars are recurring build subjects for the two, the Cougar was the first of its kind they tackled.  Keeping it in the family, Ringbrothers sourced a Ford 5.0-liter "Coyote" V8 and a 10-Speed Automatic (lifted from an F-150 Raptor, incidentally) for the build. They didn't stop with the driveline, of course. The suspension was overhauled with a little help from DSE and a set of HRE Series C1 C103 Forged 3-Piece wheels were thrown over upgraded brakes.  "We put our heart into each car we build, and this Cougar is no exception," Jim said. "The finished product is mild and classy, yet any enthusiast instantly knows it's not stock. I imagine this is what Mercury designers would have come up with if they were building the Cougar today." "While we couldn't bring the car to the SEMA Show, we hope it can be shown to the public soon," Mike said. "We had never done a Cougar before, so this was a fun build. I love working with new shapes and coming up with new ideas." There's plenty to appreciate about this Cougar apart from the mechanicals, too. The finish is Augusta Green Metallic (courtesy of BASF), which was a factory color in 1968. You may know it by another name: Highland Green. There are a few custom exterior touches, but they're quite subtle and styled to be period-correct. The interior was also restored and updated, and it's where you'll find the only thing we're not fond of: that big, fat truck shifter. Gearbox choices notwithstanding, it's a bit of an eyesore. But considering how gorgeous the rest is, we'll give it a pass.  Related Video:
