Cvpi P71 Crown Vic - Best Color Combo - New Interior - Every Available Option on 2040-cars
Austin, Texas, United States
Up for sale is a beautiful 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (CVPI) P71 Package with a Clear Texas Title in-hand. This is a highly reliable, powerful, and economical (28 mpg HWY) car. It has never left me stranded, starts on the first try every time, and does not leak. It drives straight and smooth, the AC blows cold, and it is regularly detailed (I'm an ex-detailer). The transmission is strong and crisp (zero slips in any gear). The VIN is 2FAFP71V48X142816
This CVPI is finished out in one of the rarest, yet most desirable color combos, Medium Gray Metallic over Black. I waited for months for this combo before purchasing this particular one. This P71 was retired from active duty by a Georgia Sheriff's Department less than 6,000 miles ago (January 2013). During that tenure, it was municipality maintained; now, currently professionally maintained and cleaned regularly. Being a southern car (first Georgia, now Texas), there is no rust on this vehicle. This car passed inspection last month with flying colors. For the wear items, I estimate there is 50% life left on the tires (OEM Goodyears) and 60% left on the brakes. There are no lights or police equipment in this vehicle. The spotlight and extra dome (ticket) light are legal. The antennas are dummies and the other roof holes have been plugged with color-matched PVC plastic plugs. This P71 is loaded with every available option at the time, including:
The recent upgrades and repairs are:
While this is a great example of a late-model P71, it is not perfect. There are some areas that are worth noting.
Please review all of the pictures thoroughly and ask any questions you may have. I tried to be as honest as I could with this description. This car has served me well for the past 18 months. Shortly after purchasing, I began working from home (hence the low mileage since purchasing) and no longer have a need for two vehicles. It will be hard to part with-as the car is reliable, comfortable, and strong. It provided free security for my home and neighbors, just from sitting in the driveway. These cars go for 300k+ miles when used as taxis and I have no doubt that this will be one of those examples. |

2015 Ford F-150 [w/videos]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014To learn more about the all-new 2015 F-150 and get an early read on its potential hero-or-zero status, we flew to the heart of full-size pickup truck country, San Antonio, TX, to spend a day driving, towing and playing in the mud with an assortment of Ford's innovative new trucks.
First, a caveat - while we feel we have a reasonably good handle on the new F-150 after attending this first-drive event, we are far from ready to pass definitive judgment on the success of this radically new rig. Our time in the various models was lamentably limited and we felt rushed. With so much at stake and with so much to talk about and experience, we had zero alone time with the vehicle - there were Ford folks shadowing us at every moment.
And we still don't know everything there is to know about the trucks, as Ford is withholding some of its most crucial numbers, including curb weight data and anticipated EPA fuel economy figures. We don't even have a firm on-sale date. All of this information is typically disclosed - or at least officially estimated - at the time of a new vehicle's first drive. This limits the scope of the judgments we feel comfortable making based on our first encounter.
Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses
Mon, 06 Jan 2014For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
November U.S. new car sales mixed as automakers deepen discounts
Fri, Dec 1 2017DETROIT — Major automakers posted mixed U.S. November new vehicle sales on Friday and predicted a competitive December as they rushed to sell vehicles and boost their numbers before 2017 ends. Automakers are trying to sell down 2017 model-year vehicles, offering high discounts to consumers as the year-end nears. In 2016, the industry reported record annual sales of 17.55 million units. According to consultancies J.D. Power and LMC, discounts have been above 10 percent of the average transaction price for 16 of the past 17 months, a level experts say is unhealthy and unsustainable. The November sales results come as the National Automobile Dealers Association said on Friday it expects new vehicle sales to decline to 16.7 million units in 2018, after dropping to 17.1 million for the full year in 2017. If that forecast comes true, the race to move new vehicles off dealers' lots will only intensify next year. Brandon Mason, a director at PwC's automotive practice, said a worrying trend for the industry was a rising number of subprime loans. He said subprime levels are at just over 20 percent of originations, against more than 30 percent prior to the Great Recession, but recent increases remain a concern. "That's a bit of a red flag," Mason said. "It's something to keep an eye on as we move into 2018." November results by automaker: General Motors: Sales fell 2.9 percent, with sales to consumers flat against the same month in 2016. Much of the decrease was driven by lower fleet sales. GM said strong SUV and crossover sales pushed its average transaction price for the month above $37,000 for the first time. The level of unsold cars, which has been a concern for analysts and the industry, rose slightly to 83 days' supply, from 80 days at the end of October. "More vehicles are sold in December than any other month, and we are very well positioned because we have momentum in so many segments, but especially in crossovers," said Kurt McNeil, U.S. vice president of sales operations. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles: Fleet sales are low-margin, and FCA in particular has targeted a significant reduction in this type of sale in 2017. It posted a 4 percent overall decrease in sales for November, but fleet sales were down 25 percent while sales to consumers were up 2 percent on the year. Ford: The No. 2 U.S. automaker reported a 6.7 percent increase for the month, with fleet sales up nearly 26 percent and retail sales 1.3 percent higher than in November 2016.
