Cng 2004 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor on 2040-cars
Los Angeles, California, United States
The car is great for several reasons:
1) It has White Clean Air Vehicle stickers - This means you can drive it in HOV lanes through at least 2018. A huge bonus if you're a commuter. 2) CNG is cheap - The fuel cost ranges from $1.99-$2.89 per gallon equivalent, which in my experience leads to around $0.15 per mile. (It gets around 17 mpge.) Compared to the cost of gasoline these days, cost per mile is similar to other cars with $0.15 per mile like the Honda Accord. 3) It looks like a bad ass police/detective/CHP car - Other drivers generally give you the right of way everywhere you drive. Even cops think you're a cop most of the time. 4) It is very tough and reliable - It's a big American car with a simple engine and transmission. This is a P71 Police Interceptor model, which means an additional oil cooler, reinforced frame and body mounts, upgraded driveshaft and more aggressive transmission shift points. (Police and CHP drive them for a reason.) I learned that it was originally used as a detective car for the Azusa Police Department and have taken it back to the same mechanic who worked on it for them (Economy Auto Center in Azusa) since purchasing it. I have all of the maintenance records and you are welcome to call Jack at Economy Auto Center and ask about the car's condition. 5) Extra electronics - I installed a Pioneer touchscreen in-dash stereo with navigation with a rear-view camera, along with automatic door locks and and alarm. The car is less than great for a few reasons: 1) Range is around 220 miles - This means you'll need to fuel up more often than most other cars. 2) CNG stations aren't everywhere - They are more prevalent than you'd think, they just aren't at street corners with snack shops. They are typically close to highways in commercial areas. (For a map with CNG station locations and prices, Google "cng prices station map." eBay's link policy isn't allowing my provide the link.) I've driven the car almost 60,000 miles over three years and have never run out of fuel. 3) Trunk space is compromised - This car comes with the extended range tank, which reduces the usable trunk space by about 40%. The accident report on eBay shows three accidents. The first happened before I owned it so not sure what happened there. The second, on 4/21/12, was a minor rear-end fender bender. I had the rear bumper repainted. Total cost was around $800. I don't know why there is a third incident listed on 12/4/13. Must be a mistake because nothing else has happened to the vehicle since the second incident. All in all, it's a great car. Very reliable, convenient for the carpool lane and fun being mistaken for a cop. It has been my daily driver for three years and I am only selling it because I'm moving on to an electric car. |

Ford increasing Super Duty production by 15 percent
Fri, 31 Jan 2014Ford has announced a hefty $80 million investment in its Kentucky Truck Plant, which is responsible for building the F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 versions of the Super Duty pickup. The influx of cash will add 350 jobs to the factory.
The investment is also good for a 15-percent increase in annual production thanks to retooling and other facility upgrades, which equates to an extra 55,000 units of production. Considering that Ford makes even more money off its Super Duty than it does on the hot-selling F-150, this could mean some serious coin to Ford's bottom line.

Ford Escort returns, just not for US
Sat, 19 Apr 2014Ford is set to give the burgeoning Chinese market its very own C-segment model, while also reviving one of the brand's more notable nameplates. The new Escort, which will make its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show will be built in the People's Republic at the Changan Ford joint venture facility.
The Escort's exterior is best thought of as a mix of the finer points from the US market Focus and Fusion, with the Aston Martin-ish grille and narrow, wraparound taillights presenting a clean look at either end of the car. It's all fairly true to the concept car from last year's Shanghai Motor Show. That said, this exterior job is almost too clean. There doesn't seem to be a lot of character or substance beyond the typical Ford looks.
There's a similar issue in the cabin - it all looks pretty nice, but the design is rather plain, particularly when viewed alongside the display-filled cabin of a US-spec car. Still, there looks to be a fair amount of space in both the front and back seats, and the trunk isn't exactly tiny, either.
2022 Rivian R1T vs. 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning vs. GMC Hummer EV Pickup | How they compare on paper
Tue, Sep 28 2021The 2022 Rivian R1T has arrived, ushering in the era of the production electric pickup truck. The Rivian reviews are in, and spoiler alert: They're pretty good. Curious how the new battery-powered truck stacks up to its forthcoming competitors? Well, you've come to the right place. Rivian beat all of Detroit's big automakers to market in the half-ton segment, but probably not by the margin the startup would have liked. Ford's answer is the F-150 Lightning, which is due to enter production early next year, coming hot on the heels of GM's first entry into the space – the GMC Hummer EV pickup – which is scheduled to come off the line late this fall. While all three are pickups, they're aimed at distinctly different buyers, as a perusal of their specifications will reveal. Let's have a look, shall we?  Disclaimer: Before we dive in on this one, we'd like to note that while we've made our best effort to verify the specs provided, the Rivian is brand-new and the others are still in the prototype phase. Some of these figures may be inaccurate or may simply change before production. This is all hypothetical until you can actually cross-shop them anyway, right? Cool. End disclaimer. Let's start with the powertrains. They're all battery-electric trucks engineered on a modular rear-wheel-drive configuration engineered to accommodate (theoretically, anyway) up to four electric drive units. Rivian actually makes the most use of this with a quad-motor setup producing 835 horsepower and 908 pound-feet of torque with its high-output initial model. GMC's three-motor Hummer has the R1T beat with its estimated 1,000-horsepower output, while Ford's (also three-motor) comes in with a far more modest 563 horses. This is an excellent illustration of our above point that these are not all engineered for the same crowd. Ford's F-150, which comes in at a lower price point, is meant to be far more mainstream, as its power output suggests. This theme continues when we look at the dimensions. Despite the image "Hummer" may conjure, GMC's entry actually needs the shallowest parking space. The Rivian is right behind it, with the work-truck-spec Ford extending more than a foot longer than either. What the Hummer lacks in length, it makes up for in girth. It's the widest by a good 5 inches. The Rivian is only slightly pudgier than the F-150, but it's much closer at that end of the scale.
