I am selling a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. It has very low miles for the year at only 90,500 miles. The car was used by a fire department and not by the police so it wasn't abused or used all day every day.  The car runs and drives great. The motor  is very strong and the transmission  shifts very good.  The body does have scratches and scuffs and one dent just behind the rear drivers door which can be seen in the pictures. There is absolutely no rust on this car! There are no holes in the roof. There are 3 holes in the trunk for antennas. All the lights on the car work. The interior is clean and has a full cloth bench seat and a cloth rear seat. The interior was from a grand marque. The air bag lite is on I believe due to the seat being changed. Also the seat is power but that needs to be hooked up to work or changed back to a non power seat. The seats need to be cleaned but there are no rips, holes or tears. The rest of the interior is in good shape. No check engine lights. The radio does not work and would need to be replaced. All the windows work but only from the drivers controls. My guess was a bad window lock  switch but I am not sure. The ticket light works but the lens is missing.  The car drives very good but does need an alignment I think. The tires are all new. There is no spare tire or jack. Just had a heater hose replaced and wiper motor. Overall, this is an excellent running car with very low miles for its age. This vehicle is being sold as is and as described, so the winning bid is the price that takes home the car, no exceptions.

I described this car as accurately as possible and listed every thing wrong that I know of. I don't want there to be any surprises. I welcome you to come and inspect the car before you buy it.  I will not ship or deliver the car anywhere but will help any way I can.  Please feel free to ask any questions. Please serious bidders only. A $200 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending.

Ford hiring 2,200 salaried US workers this year

Fri, 11 Jan 2013

With its influx of popular new products made in the US, Ford Motor Company has announced that it intends to hire 2,200 new salaried workers domestically this year. This is the biggest increase of salaried workers for Ford in the last 10 years, and it is all a part of Ford's contract commitment to the United Auto Workers union to bring 12,000 new jobs to the US by 2015.
There were no specifics as to where in the US these job openings will be, but Ford did reiterate that it will be spending $773 million on equipment upgrades and capacity expansion at six plants located in southeast Michigan; as a whole, Ford is investing a total of $6.2 billion to its US assembly plants over the next couple years. According to recently appointed president of the Americas Joe Hinrichs, the new jobs will be focused on areas such as engineering, manufacturing and computer software. Ford will post its job openings online at careers.ford.com, and it will also use social media sites like Facebook and Twitter to recruit new workers, including military veterans.

Watch how a Ford Raptor rolls down the assembly line in Dearborn

Sun, 30 Mar 2014

Bloomberg TV reporter Matt Miller is the proud new owner of a pretty killer truck. How do we know? The reporter headed to Dearborn, MI to Ford's assembly plant, with a film crew in tow, to see exactly how his new F-150 SVT Raptor and its mother-loving 6.2-liter V8 engine, was screwed together.
The resulting video does an excellent job of summing up how an assemblage of parts and pieces is turned into a triple-black Raptor, thanks to the work of some 1,000 employees and about 20 hours of real time. Click through below to see how the truck is born, with a surprise cameo playing the part of delivery driver at the end.

Nuclear-powered concept cars from the Atomic Age

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

In the 1950s and early 60s, the dawn of nuclear power was supposed to lead to a limitless consumer culture, a world of flying cars and autonomous kitchens all powered by clean energy. In Europe, it offered the then-limping continent a cheap, inexhaustible supply of power after years of rationing and infrastructure damage brought on by two World Wars.
The development of nuclear-powered submarines and ships during the 1940s and 50s led car designers to begin conceptualizing atomic vehicles. Fueled by a consistent reaction, these cars would theoretically produce no harmful byproducts and rarely need to refuel. Combining these vehicles with the new interstate system presented amazing potential for American mobility.
But the fantasy soon faded. There were just too many problems with the realities of nuclear power. For starters, the powerplant would be too small to attain a reaction unless the car contained weapons-grade atomic materials. Doing so would mean every fender-bender could result in a minor nuclear holocaust. Additionally, many of the designers assumed a lightweight shielding material or even forcefields would eventually be invented (they still haven't) to protect passengers from harmful radiation. Analyses of the atomic car concept at the time determined that a 50-ton lead barrier would be necessary to prevent exposure.
