2000 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor - Crown Vic Police Package on 2040-cars
La Crescenta, California, United States
Up for sale is my 2000 Ford Crown Victoria P71 Police Interceptor. This car runs and drives great and I've really enjoyed owning it. This is my 3rd I've had over the years. This car was originally silver, most likely a detective unit. This was NEVER a black and white! I was told I am the first civilian owner of this particular vehicle. I really hate to let it go but I've got 6 cars at the moment and not enough room to keep them all!
The body, paint, and interior are all in great condition for their age. Please don't expect perfection though from a 14 year old service vehicle. Car has the usual door dings and scratches here and there with a couple bumper scrapes. The rear trunk trim below the license plate and left reverse light is broken around the middle. Shouldn't be too hard to replace. Interior looks good for its age and is all matching gray. It appears that this car has a prisoner cage at one time though so there are a few holes in the sides of the headliner. The original wrap on the steering wheel is in poor shape though and I'd recommend putting a cover on it. Car has tinted windows all around but the rear glass tint is showing it's age with some peeling. The engine runs well and transmission has no issues. During my ownership I have replaced all 8 ignition coils and spark plugs with new. I've also replaced the serpentine belt and given it a recent oil change. Front shocks are about 2000 miles old and were replaced with Motocraft. Car may need ball joints soon because it's got a rattle over bumps sometimes. I am not 100% on this but that's my hunch. Car is sitting on the original police package wheels with center caps. Front tires have plenty of tread but the rears are getting low. Car passes smog with flying colors and no issues. No check engine light! And I must mention that the air conditioning works VERY well! Overall it's a great car and I've enjoyed driving it. It's safe and it's comfortable. Not to mention it can be pretty intimidating! It's now looking for a new home and the highest bidder wins! I have the clean CA title here and ready to go. This car is being sold AS IS with absolutely no warranty. Thanks for looking and please email me with any questions. |

Marchionne open to combination with Ford or GM
Fri, Mar 13 2015At the depths of the auto industry implosion, there was widely reported talk that General Motors and Chrysler would be merged into a mighty import-beating behemoth. While such notions clearly never materialized, that doesn't mean the idea is dead. In fact, FCA boss Sergio Marchionne still welcomes the idea of a partnership with either GM or Ford. He responded positively to the idea, calling it "technically feasible," when asked about it at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, Automotive News reports. "There's bantering that goes on all the time," Marchionne told AN, before quashing suspicions that a plan was in the works by adding that "nothing substantive" was going on. Our favorite black sweater enthusiast isn't quite as interested in the idea of teaming with a foreign manufacturer like PSA Peugeot Citroen, or in the rumored tie-up with Volkswagen, though. That is a shame, particularly in regards to Marchionne's shut down of a partnership with the French, although it isn't necessarily surprising – FCA already consists of eight automakers, and as Sergio told AN, there's really nothing at PSA that could help the company out. What are your thoughts? Is there an obvious project or segment that would benefit from an FCA partnership with Ford or GM? Have your say in Comments. Ford gets colorful with Mustang anniversary infographic
Thu, 24 Oct 2013Preparing to celebrate its 50th birthday, the Ford Mustang has seen a lot of vehicle trends come and go, and this especially goes for paint colors. Using historical production data, Ford has managed to create an infographic dating back to 1967 that breaks down the three top Mustang colors for each year as well as calling out some of the more interesting trends and colors over the years.
Over its five generations, the Mustang has been offered in a seemingly endless rainbow - from Playboy Pink in '67 and color-changing Mystichrome on the 2004 Cobra - but the most popular has always been red, which is the color of choice for 21 percent of all Mustangs ever made. Almost every year since 1967, red has been among the top three colors for the Mustang, but other popular colors have included blue, white, brown and, most recently, black. There are even websites and registries available for people owning certain-color Mustangs.
As the all-new 2015 Mustang gets ready for its debut later this year, there's no telling what kind of exciting and/or wacky colors Ford has in store. Click on the image above to see the full infographic (choose the "large" option for optimal viewing), or check it out in a smaller size along with the press release posted below.
How Ford made its 2015 Ford Mustang safer for toupee wearers [w/video]
Fri, 28 Feb 2014Ford is ready to tell the story of its 2015 Mustang Convertible, the can't-miss bits being the easier, quicker and quieter roof operation, a more robust roof build for a coupe-like cabin noise, more trunk space, better visibility and reduced in-cabin buffeting. The top release system has been completely redesigned with a single, center-mounted latch on the windshield frame instead of the dual latches of before. The driver can now release the roof without having to lean over into the passenger space, after which the top goes down fully automatically with the press of a button. Ford doesn't say how long it takes to stow, but it's apparently done in half as much time as before, so figure around 8 seconds.
The roof uses a five-bow structure, with the fabric outer and full inner headliner sandwiching ten millimeters of insulation. Detailing work on the top has eliminated "unsightly folds" in the corners when the roof is up and made it more compact when down; its Z-fold assembly is 6.7 inches lower than before at its highest point when put down. Ford says the new electric drive internals make less noise when in operation, and the fully-finished droptop look is achieved with snap-in caps that flank the rear seating and stow in the trunk when not in use (the outgoing Mustang's top was higher and the front when folded and always looked like it was catching air and creating drag).
The compact roof and newly independent rear suspension setup in back means liberated trunk space, 11.4 cubic feet ready to swallow golf bags and tourist swag. You can read a lot more about it in the press release below, check it out in the short video of running footage and learn about the aerodynamic improvements made to the entire Mustang lineup that decrease drag and increase fuel economy.
