1999 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor Sedan 4-door 4.6l - Good Transp.! on 2040-cars
Macungie, Pennsylvania, United States
You are bidding on a 1999 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. This happens to be the Street Appearance package, so it has the silver grille, body-colored mirror inserts, silver trim around the trunk lid and bumper covers, and full velour seating with center armrests. Everything in this car works. There is still a LOT of life left in this car despite the mileage. New brakes front and rear, new rear rotors, rebuilt rear axle, new radiator, new spark plugs, new fuel pump, new air filter and fuel filter, new shift cable, good rubber all around, good full size spare in the trunk. This is a very good city vehicle, or a pretty reliable road car in the spring/summer. It still rides smoothly (the rear axle is from a 2001 Town Car, so some acceleration is lost), and tracks well down the highway for it's size and age. No noticeable shimmying or pulling when the brakes are applied. In all, this was my wife's work vehicle - she drives 1000 miles a week - and except for driving over a tire in the middle of the road, we've never been stranded due to mechanical failure. Bid now and either fix it up without being too deep in the hole, or drive it as is with normal maintenance. Either way is fine!! Local pick-up only - you pay and arrange for any shipping yourself. $500 non-refundable deposit due on winning bid, and all remaining monies due will be paid in cash before vehicle is released. Title must be transferred upon pick-up of the vehicle, we can make arrangements due to respective work schedules and DMV operating hours. Winning bidder has 72 hours after payment to arrange pickup or money will be returned - less deposit - and car will be relisted. No warranties are expressed or implied - car is AS IS WHERE IS. I know this is a good car, but I can't predict how someone else will drive and damage the vehicle upon pickup and usage. Registration and insurance is the buyer's responsibility. The car is offered for sale locally as well, so I reserve the right to end the auction early unless otherwise noted. HAPPY BIDDING!! |

Will the new Ford GT race at Le Mans?
Tue, Jan 13 2015Ford stole the spotlight here on the floor of the Detroit Auto Show this year with the reveal of the new GT. Its carbon-fiber chassis, 600-plus-horsepower EcoBoost engine and radical aerodynamic shape made sure of that, but flanking it with the debuts of the Mustang GT350R and F-150 Raptor didn't hurt any, either. Any racing fan looking at the new Blue Oval supercar, however, had to wonder whether Dearborn is planning on putting it on the race track. The House that Hank Built is, after all, a known entity in motor racing. It may be canceling its V8 Supercars program Down Under, withdrawn its support from the World Rally Championship, and it's been years since it's competed in Formula One or Indy. But it still competes in the United SportsCar Championship, NASCAR, NHRA and a variety of motor racing disciplines. One of its most famous and celebrated of racing endeavors, however, came in the form of the original GT40 that brought Ford four consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, starting with a dominant one-two-three finish in 1966. It's the 50th anniversary of that landmark win which the new Ford GT celebrates, but while the press materials made clear reference to that historical event, any mention of a return as was previously speculated was carefully omitted. That, according to Autosport, could come down purely to the ACO, the organizers of the event and sanctioning body for its associated series, which has yet to announce the revised format for the GTE class under which a potential Ford GT racer would compete in 2016. Longtime Ford racing partner Multimatic is said to have closely consulted with the ACO on the formation of those rules, however, and assuming they're finally formulated to Dearborn's liking, we could be looking at a GTE-spec Ford GT to return to La Sarthe next year in celebration of that landmark victory half a century prior. Chip Ganassi Racing – which races under Chevy power in NASCAR and Indy but recently switched to Ford for its Daytona Prototype – is said to be in line to field the car on Dearborn's behalf. If given the green light, it would be the first time Ford would field a factory effort at Le Mans since the C100 project under the Group C category in the early 1980s. A racing version of the previous Ford GT was prepared by Switzerland-based Matech a few years ago, but without factory support or notable success beyond the FIA GT3 European Championship.
Jay Leno sees how the other half lives with CHP cop cars new and old
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Comedian Jay Leno is changing gears from driving fast cars to checking out some of the police cruisers that regularly chase down and dish out punishment to those fast cars. In this episode of Jay Leno's Garage, we get the lowdown on the modifications made to the Ford Explorer for the Interceptor package (which looks pretty tough in its California Highway Patrol livery).
The new Ford is cool, but cooler still are the pack of classic CHP cars that Jay has along for the episode. A 1982 Mustang, 1966 Dodge Polara, 1970 Mercury Monterey and 2000 Crown Victoria are all in the shop. Better still, Jay lays out an argument for ones of the classic cruisers as the best cop car of all time. Get your guesses in now, and then scroll down to watch and learn.
2014 Ford Transit Connect configurator fires up for the whole family
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The second-generation Ford Transit Connect is almost upon us, and to get work- and family-oriented customers ready for the new model, Ford has launched a configurator for both van and wagon versions. Both body styles will go on sale early next year with the base TC Van starting at $22,000, but customers wanting side windows and rear seats will have to pony up at least an extra $3,000 for the TC Wagon.
Ford is definitely looking to get back into the family van business with the 2014 TC Wagon offering three available trim levels, two engines and the choice between five- and seven-passenger seating (with two wheelbases). Like many recent Ford products, a fancy Titanium trim level is offered, and opting for it will cost you - this trim starts at $29,000, and we were able to spec it out with a panoramic roof, tow package and front and rear parking sensors for a little over $33,000.
Businesses looking for a small, fuel-efficient work vehicle now get more options on the TC Van like the choice of split, hinged rear doors or a liftgate (with or without glass), a long wheelbase ($1,000) and Ford's CrewChief vehicle tracking system ($925). Fully loaded, this van is still costs less than the fullsize E-Series. On both Van and Wagon, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine is a $795 option, but it is only offered on short-wheelbase models and Ford has yet to release power or fuel economy specs yet. With the standard 2.5-liter engine, the TC will get up to 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
