1955 Crown Victoria glass top, VIN# U5SF151113# which is an “M” coded car which means it has a 272 4-barrel high performance engine, power steering, power brakes, 4-way power seat, power windows, factory dual exhausts. The car was purchased in Massachusetts in 1962 for which the owner has a bill of sale. The car was stored in a barn in 1964 while the owner attended school in Europe. To make a long story short, one of the beams in the barn broke away and fell on the passenger side rear quarter window section breaking the quarter window and damaging the roof line which caused a long crack in the glass roof and minor roof damage. When the owner returned he had the car removed and put in a garage where it was taken apart. After thinking it over he decided that he was going to have it repaired but didn’t have the money so he knew it would be a long time before the car would be fixed. He removed all of the interior, head liner, power seats and rear seats, door panels, rear quarter panels. He also removed all the outside stainless steel. The grille was removed and was sent away for re-plating. The front and rear bumpers and bumper guards were sent away for re-plating also. A new glass top was also ordered at a hefty price. To this day the glass top is still wrapped in the factory wrapping. The bumpers and grille are also still wrapped. You can see them in the pictures of the open door of the trailer. If you look carefully on the left hand side you’ll find the bumpers and on the right hand side you will find the glass top wrapped in plastic wrapping. Underneath the glass you have the front windshield and the rear glass and a box of all new glass rubbers for all the new glass. Now after 4 or 5 years he thought he found a body shop that could do the job and that just didn’t work out. The car stayed in the shop for quite a few years. A few years later he found another place but that didn’t work out either. Then he called me. I knew of the right guy. Specializes in Crown Victorias and glass tops. He made arrangements to have it done and sent it to him. For some reason I don’t know they couldn’t agree on a price and money was even scarcer than it was before so it stayed there, outside, for many, many years. All the time that it was there the shop owner tried to keep the body covered and away from the weather. In reality you still have a 1955 Crown Victoria glass top, complete car that still hasn’t been repaired. All the good stuff, glass top, and chromed articles, seats and upholstery were stored away. The only thing that was left out was the body that was pretty well emptied years ago. Somewhere during that time there was some vandalism and someone had taken the power window lift units but left the glass and everything else. Can’t go on forever so if you want more information call me at: (207)873-5402 for the rest of the story. I will put all the pictures I have so you will have an idea of what I didn’t mention. The parts and the remaining vehicle are being sold AS IS, where is with no warranty, expressed, written or implied. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have asked all of the questions necessary or thoroughly inspected the vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself of the condition. If you are not sure about something please ask. Once again if you have questions please email. I reserve the right to end this sale if the vehicle is no longer available for sale. |

Mustang Cobra Jet prototype garners $200k for charity at Barrett-Jackson
Wed, 02 Oct 2013A few weeks ago we brought you news of a one-off Mustang Cobra Jet that Ford was donating to charity. The car was set to be auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Now that auction has taken place, bringing in an impressive $200,000 for MS research.
That's a lot of zeros for a Mustang, much less one you can't even drive on the street. But the unique pony car, bearing serial number 2014 BJMS CJXX1, packs a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, competition gearbox, wheelie bar, roll cage... all you could want, in short, in a turn-key drag racer. And all that for a good cause.
Ford recalls select Explorer, E-Series vans
Tue, 21 Jan 2014Just a few days ago we brought you news that Ford had issued a recall on 28,000 units of the Edge crossover for problems related to the fuel line. But now the Blue Oval has issued recall notices on two more of its larger vehicles.
The first relates to the Explorer, 395 examples of which from the 2011 and 2012 model years were found to have problems with their steering systems if they underwent service after September 1, 2013. An apparent software glitch could lock the steering gear, preventing the driver from steering the vehicle and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. As a result, Ford dealers are being instructed to check their records to identify the problematic vehicles and bring them in to have the steering gear replaced. Details of the recall can be found in the PDF linked here.
The second problem revolves around E-Series vans that may develop bubbles in their windshields under hot temperatures. The decrease in visibility through the problematic windshield could - you guessed it - "increase the risk of a crash." As a result, Ford is calling in 4,532 units of the E-150, E-250, E-350 and E-450 vans built in the relatively short window between May 12 and May 26, 2011. Details of this recall can be found in the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Justin Bell makes a horrible policeman
Mon, 11 Nov 2013If you're wondering what type of person makes a good police officer, it seems a racecar driver doesn't. Let us rephrase that: Justin Bell, a racecar driver and the host of Motor Trend's World's Fastest Car Show, recently got behind the wheel of a 5.0-liter Ford Mustang police car with Sergeant Daniel Shrubb, co-founder of DRAGG (Drag Racing Against Gangs and Graffiti), and proved that his high-performance-driving skillset is a bit too aggressive for police duty.
While it's easy to get carried away in a Mustang GT, a patrol car driver must maintain some sort of restraint while pursuing a criminal, so as not to come off as a reckless driver to the public. We'll admit, some pursuit techniques are counter-intuitive to performance driving (stay off the gas in a lane-change exercise?), but Bell's judicious use of the handbrake can't be normal procedure.
Watch "The One With The Ford Mustang 5.0 Police Car" (yes, we caught the Friends reference too) below to see some shenanigans in one of Michigan's finest patrol cars.
