1932 Ford Victoria Coupe Sedan, All Real Steel Hot Street Rod, Excellent Driver on 2040-cars
Fresno, California, United States
Original steel body and fenders, not a bondo body. Very low miles SBC 400 with mild cam, totally rebuilt T-10 4 speed, newly rebuilt 9" posi in restored 1957 Ford wagon rear end. Interior and tires good on new Vintique wheels 4 1/2" Ford bolt pattern, dropped axle with disc brakes. New chassis and suspension components by well known and respected Kiwi Konnection. Restored 51 ford dash with non functional gauges except Speedometer does work well which was professionally rebuilt, odometer shows 1958 but actual mileage on total professionally rebuilt engine is under 10,000. Split back front seat for access to original rear seat. Top is not filled and is soft top insert. Was first a mild hot rod in late sixties. New vulcanized running boards, 32 sedan delivery type shorter rear bumper arms. I just replaced the original 32 CA plates with new ones from DMV assuming car will be sold out of state. Tires are L78x15 and 5.60x15, Flaming River cross steer box. I noticed that doors look misaligned in photos but they weren't shut all the way, they do fit right. Windshield opens and closes properly, luggage rack is new and hinges to lie flat. Original 32 headlights were also professionally restored, cowl lamps are functional turn signals. Original gas tank was dipped and is clean inside. I have the 32 spare wheel/tire mount if wanted. Bid to win if serious for a hard to find real 32 vicky, I might do a second chance offer. I know it isn't a crown Victoria, ebay added that. In person inspection welcome. Questions welcome 559-269-1273 |

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books
Fri, 08 Aug 2014The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.
Ford settles class action suit over defective Navistar diesel engines
Fri, 25 Oct 2013The 2003 Ford F-Series Super Duty (shown above) introduced the 6.0-liter Power Stroke diesel supplied by Navistar, and while that is an engine Ford would love to forget, it's now one step closer to putting that particular problem behind it. Automotive News is reporting that Ford has settled a class-action lawsuit brought on by problems with this engine that started right out of the gate and ultimately broke up the 30-year relationship between Ford and Navistar.
Owners and lessees of 2003-2007 Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans equipped with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke are eligible for deductible reimbursements of between $50 and $200 from the original five-year/100,000-mile engine warranty, while Ford is paying out as much as $825 for out-of-warranty engine repairs. These repairs may include the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, EGR valve, oil cooler, fuel injectors and turbocharger, but are only covered if the components failed before six years or 135,000 miles.
In total, Ford has agreed to pay about 50 percent of the value of the repairs and deductibles paid by its customers who submit a claim before the end of this year, and $150,000 is going to the 16 named plaintiffs in the case; Navistar was not included in the lawsuit.
Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
