1999 Ford Contour Svt Sedan 4-door 2.5 Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzs7yzb4iw on 2040-cars
Cranford, New Jersey, United States
For sale is my 1999 Ford SVT Contour with 112,500 miles. 2.5L V6. This car has gotten me 80 miles round trip, 5 days a week for the past 3 years just for work and it has never left me stranded! This SVT is in great shape with many new parts: COMPLETE WALK AROUND VIDEO BELOW! ****************************** There are some things that need attention like anything else. The moonroof doesn't go fully back or fully back to its original position (does not leak at all) just keep it closed. The compressor for the air conditioner works well but there is a leak in the system somewhere so it doesn't stay charged. The check engine light is off right now but will come on because there is a catalytic code for the rear cat. The parking break cable just snapped the other day where the main cable meets the two cables that go to each rear brake The power seat works great, heater works well, all lights work in dash and exterior, there is a small sub in the trunk and the tires and brakes are in great shape but might need I be replaced in the next year or two. All power windows and locks work the passenger power lock will not lock remotely or with the power lock switch but will unlock with either. Car is competely rust free on all body panels, if it was driven in snow and salt, I washed the car that week, very well taken care of ***************** CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY |

Ford reveals new rapid prototyping and low-volume production techniques [w/video]
Mon, 08 Jul 2013It's called "F3T," and that stands for Ford Free-form Fabrication Technology. The process that The Blue Oval has developed means being able to sidestep the weeks-long process of tool-and-die making when engineers want to construct a new part, allowing them to fabricate a three-dimensional part from a two-dimensional sheet of metal in just hours.
While F3T is being developed it is limited to "low-volume prototyping or even low-volume niche vehicles," but the next step is to evaluate it for use in Ford's global manufacturing facilities. You can find out more about it in the video and the press release below.
NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue
Tue, 07 Oct 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
eBay Find of the Day: 1970 Ford Torino King Cobra prototype
Wed, 08 May 2013Over the last decade or so, competition in NASCAR has led to some pretty funky looking racecars. And when the sport was still up and coming, the tight competition actually led to some interesting production cars. The Dodge Charger Daytona and Plymouth Superbird are perhaps the most well-known cars of the sport's "aero wars" era but the Ford Torino King Cobra might have been the most memorable of all, if not for some different homologation rules established in 1970. The Torino King Cobra never made it to production and never competed in NASCAR, but three examples exist including this one now for sale on eBay.
Designed as a successor for the aero-tuned Torino Talladega, the Torino King Cobra has a sleeker front end with hidden headlights and a sloped nose. As the story goes, NASCAR made a rule change in 1970 requiring 3,000 of the vehicles to be produced, which was substantially more than the 500 units required by the previous rule. One of the three prototypes ever built - and the only one built with the Boss 429 engine - is now for sale on eBay with a starting bid of $500,000. With a little more than three days left on the auction there are still no bids, but in the grand scheme of things this seems like a relatively fair price for a rare piece of automobile and racing history.
