There is no denying that the Early Ford Broncos are becoming highly sought after in the collector car market and rightfully so! These convertible 4-wheel drive rigs are a blast to drive and truly attract all the attention you can handle on the road and at the shows and cruise-ins. Many of you have probably seen the last few Early Broncos we listed for sale over the last few months and noticed that each one of them sold very quickly. I am pretty certain this awesome '70 Bronco will also draw quite a bit of interest and will sell quickly so do not hesitate if it catches your eye!!!  This Bronco lived its whole life in California until we purchased it recently. Even better, it was in the same family since 1971 and the son who owned it last spent some serious money having it professionally restored. We then added a few more touches to bring it to the level you will see today. The list of work done includes rebuilt motor, transmission, professional paint and interior, suspension, wheels and tires etc.. and this beauty is begging to be driven and enjoyed!

If you have been searching for an amazing Early Bronco Classic that is ready to cruise to the beach, mountains, kids sporting event,  or the next car show then get ready because "THE COPPER BRONK" might just be the one you have been waiting for!!

We are always searching warm, dry climates for Classic cars and trucks and every now and then we find something with a great story behind it. Such is the case with this awesome 1970 Bronco that came out of Northern California.  The gentleman we acquired it from told us it had been his father's Bronco since 1971 when he bought it with just 8000 miles on it. It was a third vehicle for the family and was only used on the weekends and for fun family trips and he had vivid memories enjoying it with his father behind the wheel while he was growing up. This Bronco has under 72,000 original miles on it!!  In 1998 his father handed him the keys and told him it was his turn to enjoy it.  In 2002 the restoration began and eventually was completed in 2013. Originally he thought he might do some off-roading with it but by the time he was done with it he realized it was too nice to do that so he really only drove it occasionally after it was finished on the weekends just as his father did when he was growing up. He was living about 90 minutes from his work in San Francisco so he rented an apartment close to work and only came home on weekends. As years passed he realized he just was not driving the Bronco enough to justify it taking up his one car garage space. He really had a hard time letting go of it for sentimental reasons but he knew it was time.....bummer for him, but lucky for the next owner...maybe you??? As you will read in the information that follows everything has been gone through and either replaced or rebuilt so that this Bronco is ready for some serious driving fun and runs and drives as good as it looks.  I will do my best to provide enough pictures, information and a video of the Bronco running so you can decide if this is the one for you! Sit back and enjoy!

As you will see the body on this Copper Metalllic Bronco is absolutely stunning. Although it was painted about 10 years ago, we had it wet sanded and buffed and it looks outstanding!!! The original color code was K which Carmel Bronze Metallic so the color is actually very close to the original color, but nicer!! Body panels are extremely straight for a Bronco and everything lines up fantastic.  The previous owner told us it was never in any accidents and all body panels were original.  The side body molding chrome is original and looks great with only a few minor blems. Since he had thought it might be fun to do some off roaring he had originally put a pre-runner style front bumper on it with a 9000lb winch.  He only went off road with it twice and we decided to give it more of a stock, street look so we removed the high end front bumper set up and put a new chrome front bumper on. We did leave the awesome rear bumper with swing away spare tire holder and swing away cooler/gas can rack. We added a jerry-can gas can and it is waiting for the next owner to choose a cool vintage cooler to store some cold beverages in for the trips to the beach or car shows.  Paint quality is great!! The only flaws I noticed along the body were a few very small chips along the rockers and near where the hard top gets removed. As you will see we did a flat black treatment on the center of the hood which matches the flat black we did on the hard top and really helps set this Bronco off. We had the roll bar powder coated black and installed a brand new bikini top. As you will see later we also have a great looking Hard top as well. The windshield had ben replaced years ago and all of the glass looks excellent and windows roll up and down nicely. Weatherstripping has also been replaced.  This Bronco is ready for the shows and cruise-ins where I am sure it will win plenty of trophies if that is what you enjoy.  Here is a walk around tour of the body:

I think the best way to enjoy these Classic Broncos is with the hard top off but it is nice to know that this Copper Bronk also has an awesome hard top that we refinished in a satin black. As you will see in the pics below this Bronco looks fantastic with the hard top on!!! You will also notice that the hard top also has the rare, factory original chrome luggage rack attached. The hard top itself is in fantastic condition although the cardboard headliner has some flaws which you really do not notice unless you are laying down looking up at it. All glass in hard top looks excellent. This Bronco also has the original wiper motor cover and sun visors for use with the hard top on. The previous owners father also installed an added set of sun visors that come down along the side windows which can come in handy at times. Here are some pics with the hard top on:

 photo 100_7510_zps66344b68.jpg photo 100_7517_zps01a890c4.jpg photo 100_7522_zpsc53a991a.jpg photo 100_7519_zpsa7717de9.jpg photo 100_7518_zps8d9af738.jpg photo 100_7516_zpsd12bb3ec.jpg photo 100_7520_zpsdcf4000d.jpg photo 100_7515_zpsddfe925c.jpg photo 100_7512_zps6ee7c5a8.jpg

When you open the door of this Copper Beauty you will feel like you are back in 1970 as the original front and rear seats await you. I personally love the look of the original seats in these Classic Broncos.  Front and rear seat covers look practically brand new, however there is a 1/2 " cut in the passenger seat bottom that is barely noticeable. The interior floor of the Bronco had been lined professionally years ago and looked good overall but we decided to give it a really nice finished look with a new carpet kit from front to back. I assure you the carpeting is not hiding anything as the floors al appeared to be original and rock solid. In fact underneath we could still see original red oxide primer before we detailed it. We installed new seat belts for both front and rear passengers and new front and rear interior panels to really finish off the interior nicely. A brand new locking center console was also added. Custom Bronco sill plates were added as well. The original dash is pretty much uncut with the exception of a few switches that were added for the accessories like lights that were added.  An aftermarket am/fm/cassette player was added under dash and works but you may decide to upgrade the stereo if you enjoy your music. All of the gauges and lights seem to be working correctly, however the speedometer is reading about 10 mph slower then actual. Tilt steering column with a nice aftermarket steering wheel make driving easy and comfortable and the previous owner was quite tall and had actually positioned the drivers seat back further then stock. We placed it back to original position but the holes remain in case you are tall and need some added leg room. You will notice that the original 3-speed column shifter was moved to the floor and this Bronco has an awesome upgraded NV 5000 5-speed transmission which makes it a blast to drive. Overall as you will see the interior looks better then factory new!

This '70 Bronco has under 72,000 original miles and runs and drives awesome!! This truck was never abused and was always well maintained.  The previous owner told us that he had the engine rebuilt by a place called Willy's Restoration in Oregon and at the same time a new NV4500 5-speed transmission was installed. This transmission is great for these Broncos as it gives you a granny 1st gear for hill climbing if needed and then 4 additional gears so you can cruise comfortable on the highway as well. There are supposed to be less then 1000 miles on the drivetrain since the time of restoration.  This Bronco was also nicely upgraded to make driving it much more effortless then originally. Upgrades included Power steering which makes handling effortless and the steering is extremely tight with practically no play or float even with the lift and larger wheels and tires.  Front disc brakes were added and the rear drums were completely gone through and redone. Although it is not power brakes it truly stops as easily as most of the power brake Broncos we have had with little effort needed and no pulling. Warn lockable hubs were added to the front axles and 4 wheel drives engages and works properly. All new axles, bearings and gears in the rear end. Original Dana 20 front transfer case. 3 1/2" lift kit with all new springs and shocks give this Bronco a great stance and smooth ride. Ford 2bbl carburetor was rebuilt and feeds fuel nicely while the 302 V8 breathes out the stock manifolds and through a new 3" exhaust with Flowmaster muffler. Optima battery helps fire this baby up every time.  This Bronco has the sound you would expect!!! Make sure you listen to the video below to hear it start up and running.  This Bronco truly is a joy to drive and I put about 70 miles on it last weekend.  Engine bay has been nicely detailed as well and we also added the hydraulic hood prop rods that make opening and closing the heavy hood effortless compared to how they are set up originally.  Take a look:

HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS AWESOME "COPPER BRONK" START UP AND RUNNING: (CLICK THE ARROW TO START)

As you would hope, the undercarriage/floorpans on this California Bronco were absolutely rock solid and original with no rust issues!!! We scraped away a very light coating of undercoating and revealed the original red oxide primer on the floor pans. We then went back and detailed the undercarriage nicely so that it would show as nicely as the rest of the Bronco. The front and rear fuel tanks were repaved by the previous owner and are both working properly.  When the Bronco arrived to us it had black wheels and smaller tires on it then we usually like so we installed a brand spankin new set of Eagle Alloy 15x10 polished rims wrapped in brand new BF Goodrich All Terrain TA radials that have under 100 miles on them. Of course we added the matching spare as well.  You will be proud to show off the underside of this Bronco!! Check it out:

If you follow any of the Classic Car auctions that run across the country you have probably noticed how hot these Early Broncos have gotten.  Rightfully so as they are really a blast to drive and certainly draw a crowd wherever they go. The challenge is finding one that has been well taken care of, professionally restored, and is turn-key ready to be enjoyed.  This particular Bronco is a very high quality truck, with a lot of $$$$ spent on it and will make it’s next owner smile from ear to ear when it arrives at their driveway…..shouldn’t that be you?? If you would like to discuss a price that can put this Bronco in your garage before the next guy or gal gets it then feel free to call me at 770-359-8400 to discuss it.  Many of my auctions end early as I will happy to negotiate a deal with serious buyers and reserve the right to end the auction early if this happens.

1964 Ford GT40 prototype sells for $7M

Mon, 14 Apr 2014

Seven-figure Ferraris are not horribly rare. Heck, an eight-figure Ferrari isn't a rare occurrence. Between modern masterpieces like the Enzo and more classic offerings, cracking the million-dollar mark isn't a particularly tall order for the cars from Maranello. For a Ford, though, it's a big deal.
Now, this is not just some rare Mustang. This is a GT40, the car that Henry Ford II commissioned to whip Enzo Ferrari around a track in France. As far as the Le Mans-winning racers go, they don't get much rarer than this one. Sold at the Mecum Auctions in Houston, this is one of the prototypes, meaning it's one of the very first GT40s ever built. That makes its $7 million winning a bid, a record for on-air coverage of the auction, a pretty darn impressive figure.
You can watch the auction below, but first, take a look back at our original story on this rare Blue Oval.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.
