ORIGINAL NOSTALGIC 1974 BRONCO BAJA SAND RACER! FIBERGLASS FRONT FENDERS & HOOD BARN FIND ONLY 2 OWNERS!! UNRESTORED OK here's the deal, just purchased 3 broncos and a 1971 F-250 Highboy from an older man cleaning out his barn..Literally!! This is a really cool truck that has really neat history and only 2 owners it's entire life, the man I purchased it from has owned it since 2007. It has had a ton of mechanical work down to it that I will list below. We do have receipts for some of the work and they will be included with the truck. It does not have a top, besides a bikini, or a back seat. That being said, it starts, runs, and drives down the highway at 65 just fine ( I just drove the truck about 15 miles in 5 degree weather). This is a great truck to either enjoy on the beach or start a full blown restoration with a great tub, virtually rust free frame, and one heck of a drive train with less that 500 miles on everything!! *1968 302" V8 block bored to a 306" with matching heads that have been ported & polished, with 1.94/1.60 valves, hardened seats for unleaded fuel. *Summit, Melling solid lifter cam, Duration 280/290, Lift .448/.472 *roller rockers *Weiand X-cellerator intake *Wild Horses chrome headers *balanced/blueprinted with SRP 10.5:1 pistons *Heavy duty rods with ARP bolts *high flow water pump and thermostat, electric fan, 4 core radiator, Saginaw power steering pump, extreme duty motor mounts, complete MSD ignition, and distributor, with MSD 6AL red box, Holley 650 double pumper, and to finish it off Flowmaster series 40 mufflers and 3" exhaust!! SOUNDS LIKE A NASCAR ENGINE BUT VERY STREETABLE COMBINATION!!! The transmission is a stock 3 speed, that has been fully rebuilt with a center force stage II clutch, heavy duty clutch rod and scattershield, and a Hurst Competition Plus shifter. Transfer case is a J-shift style which was also rebuilt this year, new heavy duty drive shafts and shaft loops installed. Front Dana 44 has power disc brakes, heavy duty axle shafts, newer Spicer ball joints, wheel bearings, seals, Warn lock-outs and 4.88 Yukon gears with a spool. Rear axle is a Ford 9", 31 spline extreme duty axles, new drum brakes, 4.88 Yukon gears and a full spool. Suspension is a Wild Horses 4.5" with front coils, and 3 shocks on each front, steering stabilizer, drop pitman arm, new leaf springs in rear with NO blocks. 35x14.50x15 super swamper boggers over half tread on 10" wide aluminum round hole wheels. The body is in fairly good shape, paint from 1983, front fenders and hood are fiberglass, only rust is behind the passenger rear wheel well and is pictured. The frame is in very good condition. Front original seats are there, triple gauges work, gas gauge and speedo work. Full cage is bolted not welded. Both fuel tanks are in the truck and in working order. This baby will make a great toy as it sits, or a great start for a full restoration since the chassis is all done and mechanically it's stellar!! Call with any questions, 573-680-3097. We hardly have any eBay auctions last the full 7 days so call to reserve it today!! |

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Weekly Recap: Marchionne's Manifesto again calls for industry consolidation
Sat, May 2 2015Sergio Marchionne isn't taking no for an answer. Despite public rebuffs from General Motors and Ford, the leader of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to push for consolidation within the auto industry. His latest assertion came Wednesday when he said a combination of FCA with another automaker could net savings of $5 billion or more annually. No, this isn't about selling his company, he claimed, it's about cutting costs. Put simply, the auto industry wastes money, Marchionne said during FCA's earnings conference call. Companies invest billions to develop basic components that all cars use, but many consumers don't care how they work or recognize the differences. "About half of this is really relevant in terms of positioning the car in the marketplace," he said. "The other half, in our view, is stuff which is neither visible to the consumer nor is it relevant to the consumer." In 2014, top automakers spent more than $100 million on product development, FCA estimated. Marchionne said consolidation could save up to $1 billion on powertrains alone, noting that almost every automaker offers four- and six-cylinder engines. Not everyone has to make their own, he contended. "The consumer could not give a flying leap whose engines we are using because they are irrelevant to the buying decision." That's pretty provocative for enthusiasts, but less so for average consumers. Still, there are major differences in power and efficiency ratings, even among similar engines. Skeptics could argue consolidation would also weaken competition and reduce choices for car buyers. Marchionne stressed his presentation, curiously entitled Confessions of a Capital Junkie, wouldn't require closing factories or dealerships. It's not his final "big deal" as CEO, intent to sell FCA, or a way to elevate his company up the automotive food chain. He claims he wants to fundamentally change the industry and its habit for burning cash. "The horrible part about this, and the thing that I find most offensive, is that the capital consumption rate is duplicative," he said. "It doesn't deliver real value to the consumer and it is in its purest form, economic waste." Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod
Tue, 21 Oct 2014Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.
