This is one sweet 1968 Ford Bronco 351 Windsor V8 4X4!

Wow!! If you don't like attention I would not suggest buying this Bronco, it easily turns heads everywhere it goes and with good reason too. It doesn't matter if you're parking or headed down the highway. It's sharp... clean inside and out, and fully restored. There are a ton of these out there that have been used and abused, this one's been babied, obviously loved and well cared for, it's a survivor. This Bronco was purchased at Mecum auction and unfortunately I just don't have time to drive it. I travel a lot and other than the occasional trip to the grocery store, it stays parked in the garage. This custom one of a kind Bronco deserves someone who can get it more attention, drive it daily, and cherish it like the wonderful piece of Ford history that it is. Ok, so now for the good stuff. It was a full frame off restoration believed to be an investment of over 80k. The frame was sandblasted and powder coated black. Believed to be rust free California tub. It features a 351 Windsor V8 with an NV4500 5 speed transmission. Boys and girls it's a blast to drive. Quick acceleration, smooth shifts, and great handling too. If you get behind the wheel you'll definitely fall in love. The heads are ported and polished with roller rocker arms. The James Duffy suspension and shocks ride beautifully. It has oversized valves, a 2" body lift, Dana 2 Split shift, Dana 44 Ford 9" rear, Custom gas tanks; 23 gallon main tank, 12 gallon auxillary tank, On board air compressor and tank connections in front and rear, Detroit lockers front and rear with new 410 gears, Winch mount pre runner bumper with Warn Winch M8472-50, Infinity speakers with Alpine CD player, Vintage air, Flaming River tilt steering column, Rear hitch 8 point family roll cage, full safari soft top, 5 practically brand new 33x10.5x15 tires and wheels; BFG KM2's, Custom laser one-off dash with Dakota gauges, Pro Car seats, and so much more. The list goes on and on. Bottom line is someone spared no expense in making this one bad ass Bronco. If you have any questions about this please feel free to message me and I'll answer as soon as possible. I'm more than happy to schedule test drives if you're in the area, and welcome all phone calls, just message me your number, and I have more pictures upon request as well. Thanks so much for your interest.

Ford shutters Genk assembly plant in Belgium

Tue, Dec 23 2014

Ford has become the latest automaker to close one of its European assembly plants. The facility in question is located in the Belgian city of Genk and has been in operation since the early '60s when it started building the Taunus, Ford's first mass-produced, front-drive model. As part of the plan first announced over two years ago, the Genk Body & Assembly Plant is now closing its doors after half a century in the business and over fourteen million vehicles built. Although the plant itself employed some 5,000 workers, once you take into account the suppliers built up around the plant, the overall impact on employment in the area edges closer to 12,000. Genk Body & Assembly had until recently been tasked with producing the Mondeo sedan (which in its current iteration we know as the Fusion) as well as the S-Max and Galaxy minivans. Production of the Mondeo shifted in 2013 to the company's plant in Valencia, Spain, which also handles the Kuga crossover and Transit Connect cargo van, and will soon take over the minivans from Genk as well. The move follows a similar decision undertaken by General Motors to close the Opelwerk plant in Bochum, Germany. It also reflects a scaling down of automobile production in Belgium specifically: although Audi still manufacturers in Brussels and and Volvo in Ghent, Opel closed its plant in Antwerp in 2000 and Renault ceased production in Vilvoorde back in '97. However Ford still maintains its famous proving ground half an hour to the north in Lommel, Belgium. Verizon buys Telogis in connected vehicle market push

Wed, Jun 22 2016

(Note/disclaimer: We are owned by Verizon, by way of AOL. This gives us no inside track whatsoever when it comes to news.) With a lot of tech companies and automakers staking their claims in the connected car space, now there are signs that others are looking to move in, too. Today, telecoms giant Verizon announced that it is acquiring Telogis, a California-based company that develops cloud-based solutions for mobile workforces, and specifically telematics, compliance and navigation software used by Ford, Volvo, GM and other car companies, as well as Apple and AT&T. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed, although we'll try to find out. Considering that Verizon in 2015 reported full-year revenues of $131.6 billion, the price would have to be very high to be considered "material" and may not be made public for some time, if ever. Telogis in its time as a startup raised a substantial amount of money, just over $126 million in all, including $93 million in 2013, supposedly ahead of an IPO, all from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Back in 2013 when KPCB made its investment (which was the first from a VC firm in the company), Telogis told TechCrunch it was profitable and forecasting revenues of $100 million annually for the year. It's not clear what size those revenues are now, but if it was on the same growth trajectory as before the funding, sales would be around $150 million annually, with profitability, at the moment. Other investors include some very notable strategics: the investment arm of General Motors, and Fontinalis Partners, which also invests in Lyft and was co-founded by Bill Ford, the executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company. Before the acquisition, Verizon actually had a business in fleet management and telematics; in fact, the two companies competed against each other for business from the trucking and other industries. Verizon Telematics, as the business is called, is active in 40 countries. But in a way, Verizon buying Telogis is a sign that the latter may have proved to be the more superior, and the one with the key customer deals.

Uber releases fleet of self-driving vehicles to select few in Pittsburgh

Wed, Sep 14 2016

Starting today, a select group of Uber users in Pittsburgh, PA will have the ability to request a self-driving vehicle. If a self-driving vehicle is in the area, Uber will send it, as well as a safety driver, to drive loyal customers to their destination. The announcement to give customers the opportunity to get a ride in one of Uber's self-driving vehicles comes roughly a year and a half after the company set up its Advanced Technologies Center in the city. On Tuesday, the company offered a few members of the press the opportunity to ride in one of the company's self-driving cars. The fleet, despite Uber's collaboration with Volvo, was comprised of 14 Ford Fusions equipped with a host of self-driving technology, reports TechCrunch. Uber is giving away free rides as a way to obtain real-world testing, which is crucial for self-driving technology. Recently, nuTonomoy beat Uber to the punch by launching the world's first autonomous taxis in Singapore. While the choice to release its self-driving cars in Pittsburgh mainly comes down to the fact that its ATC is located there, the city faces four seasons and its difficult streets that are comprised of bridges, railroad lines, and an irregular grid layout will prove to be a challenge for the autonomous cars. Since the self-driving vehicles are still being tested, the cars will come with two full-time Uber employees. One employee will loosely grasp the car's steering wheel, ready to take over if something goes awry, while the other will monitor the computer's software. As TechCrunch points out, Uber's autonomous vehicles drove in a similar manner to a regular driver. It obeyed traffic laws, mimicked a driver by coming to stops gently and at other times abruptly, as well as driving slightly into another lane to dodge a poorly-parked vehicle, reports TechCrunch. There's no word on whether regular Uber customers will get a ride in one of the company's Fusions or one of the Volvo's that its working on. Automakers and companies alike have been in a race to put autonomous vehicles on the road. Tesla recently updated its Autopilot system, Apple laid off dozens of employees to reboot its self-driving car project, and Google is working giving its autonomous vehicle the ability to detect emergency vehicles. While this is a large step for Uber, vehicles with autonomous capabilities still have a long way to go.
