1974 Ford Bronco Sport, automatic, 302v8, power steering, power brakes, 4x4, no rust, very good condition.  Runs and drives excellent, fun to drive, nice daily driver that could be easily taken to the next level (new paint).  Also with truck is original sport top in good condition and a recently reupholstered rear seat (both will be installed before sold). Many receipts, CA registration in my name, good through Aug. 2014. CA smog exempt.  Truck could be driven anywhere.

- 302 v8 engine, rebuilt 33k miles ago, very strong, fast, peppy engine, stays cool, idles and runs perfect, no problems ever. Drive it in city and on highways frequently.
- All renewed/rebuilt suspension and steering: New tires, brakes, shocks, brake booster, power steering gearbox, stabilizer, and new ball joints. Radiator replaced a while back, newer hoses, everything was gone through and truck is mechanically solid.
- Interior gauges, lights, fan, vents, and blinkers all work well.
- Heavy duty tow hitch and electrical hookup (never used for tow though).
- Original Ford wind blue color, was repainted in the 90's, paint showing it's age.
- Both main and axillary gas tanks work properly, under seat tank switch, fuel gauge  and gauge switch work properly.

Top, hatch/gate, rear seat, and wiper motor all work perfect and will be installed with original interior wiper canopy cover in good condition (see pics) before truck is transferred to new owner.  Had it all off for convertible use. NADA estimate $25k retail. Does not need much to make this truck a beauty, just newer paint and front/rear fender flares.  Front fenders have already been trimmed for flares, have not installed them though.

$16,000 or best offer.

The big dune jump and the damage done

Mon, 20 May 2013

The Silver Lake sand dunes see their fair share of well-built trophy trucks executing impressive jumps. Drivers build insane pieces of machinery for the express purpose of sailing through the air like mad men and women.
Mike Higgins is no stranger to the area. His heavily modified Ford trophy truck has gone flying through the sky on more than one occasion, but he recently bit off more than he could chew. After hitting a particularly lofty dune, Higgins went airborne for a ridiculous 180 feet before becoming intimately familiar with the finer points of gravity.
While Higgins nailed the jump, his landing fell short of wowing the judges. The impact very nearly broke his truck in two. Despite the mechanical mayhem, the driver walked away without a scratch, proving that occasionally miracles really do happen. You can check out the jump and the subsequent destruction below for yourself. Be warned: there's a fair bit of foul language.

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
