2015 Ford C-Max gets a corporate nose job [w/video]
Thu, 02 Oct 2014Ford might not have the splashiest booth here at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, but the automaker is showing off quite a bit of hardware that will actually end up on roads across Europe. Parisians are no doubt tickled at getting to see the specifications of the Mustang tuned for The Continent (which has a revised suspension for European roads, and a few visual nips and tucks), in addition to the revised face of the family-friendly C-Max.
As you can see, C-Max styling has been revisited with a deft touch, grafting Ford's six-sided corporate grille on the nose, in place of the outgoing car's two-part affair. New headlights can also be found on the car's revised front fascia, though the rear end of the C-Max looks only slightly different than the current version.
Inside the cabin, Ford has consolidated controls and upped the ante in terms of material quality, with "black satin" and chrome details and more storage capacity, overall. Grocery-lugging moms and dads everywhere should appreciate the hands-free liftgate feature, as well.
1969 Ford GT40 Mk III found roaming the halls in Geneva
Wed, Mar 4 2015The halls of the 2015 Geneva Motor Show are filled with all manner of exotic racing machinery, from the likes Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus to McLaren. But there's one peculiar bit of history tucked away that we thought you'd be equally interested to see: a 1969 Ford GT40 Mk III. One of only seven known to be built, this Mk III coupe was intended as a road-going alternative to earlier racing-bred GT40 models, like the original Mk I and 427-cubic-inch, Le Mans-dominating Mk II. Due to its street-legal intentions, the Ford GT40 Mk III boasted revised bodywork that allowed for some luggage and new headlights, along with a redesigned interior with left-hand-drive and a shifter in the normal, center position. The Mk III wasn't very popular when it was new in the 1960s, in part because it looked different from other GT40 models and because it was pretty expensive, but that just means it's an awfully rare gem today. Take a look at the piece of history in our high-res image gallery above. Blue Oval's new Cargo cab-over rig is largest "One Ford" initiative yet
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The imposing commercial truck above has a feature that might be surprising to most Autoblog readers - a Blue Oval emblem on the front. Here in North America, Ford simply doesn't play in the eighteen-wheeler sandbox, but that doesn't mean that the Dearborn-based automaker is absent in the heavy hauling space in other parts of the globe. In fact, Ford presently fields two completely different big rig ranges under the Cargo moniker - one a product of an Eastern Europe/Turkey joint venture, and another from Brazil. But that's about to start changing with the advent of this new cab-over model seen here.
Unveiled in São Paulo, Brazil, this new generation of Cargo is perhaps the largest physical embodiment of CEO Alan Mulally's "One Ford" global streamlining strategy. Instead of multiple models, company engineers have developed a new single truck that it says will better meet the needs of truckers in all markets. Designed to compete in what's known as the "extra heavy-duty segment" elsewhere in the world, this Cargo was developed jointly by Ford engineering teams in Brazil, Turkey and Europe.
Specifics remain hard to come by (read: unreleased), but Ford is promising an all-new engine enabling hauling capability of up to 56 tons while still returning excellent fuel economy. Ford's global Cargo lineup will henceforth consist of a dozen models, but Ford tells Autoblog has no plans to bring this hot and heavy-duty action to North America.
