Nice Clean solid 1992 Full size Bronco in great mechanical condition with straight body. This is hard combination to find. I know, I looked for quite some time. This was an original owner truck that was not abused. Older gentleman owned it for 21 years. I bought and fixed up for my 16yr old daughter. I bought what I thought would be cool and safe vehicle. She wants smaller vehicle. 351W motor and back window works along with everything else. Back window motor goes up and down good not like most that struggle. No Rust. Clean straight body and frame. Un-molested truck. 123,838 miles. Runs Perfect and 4x4 worked flawlessly in Texas ice storm. I paid $7400 for the truck. Yes you might be able to find one for same price and then you can go through the truck like I did. hard to find black with a 351W motor. Had small oil leak (which i could have let go but not my style) so it needed new Front main seal, since i was takign apart, had new water pump, new filters, thermostat, hoses, new belt, wiper blades, did a radiator flush, checked all fluids in transfer case, rear axle, changed oil, tuned up and put new plugs, rear window switch and replaced old bulbs with newer brighter ones. $420 in parts and mechanic buddy did all the work and i gave him some furniture i had in storage for the labor. I took to Eagle transmission to have them service and check out trans. Automatic AOD with overdrive works great and solid. $0 Blue Tooth Stereo with Mic and hands free calling ($1537), from Car Toys and extended warranty. Alpine head unit, seperate speakers in front door panel, coax in rear, 5- channel amp hidden in rear side panel and Dual 10 inch Subs in back. (hair tingling sound, clean) THe catalytic converter was full so I installed and New Dual Cat with Dual Magnaflow exhaust and dual chrome tips out rear. Soft rumble. I did not want loud roar so I installed bigger baffle unit that is little quieter. $780 Front end alignment. Drives strainght and did but had checked anyway. You can let go of wheel and car is straight as an arrow. Tires have less than 3000 miles. Previous owner put new tires and new brakes right before I bought it. It was actually in shop for service when she decided to trade in on new Fusion. New Inspecton $42 Registration and taxes - The Top has never been taken off. I started to take off one day and snapped some of the tan plastic tabs so I went to Ford Dealer and have brand new black tabs. There are some rock chips on hood and fading on lip of hood facing inside of truck. There are couple dings but truck looks sharp and paint shines. You have to look close to find flaws. Inside is clean and non smoker. There is some discoloratioin in carpet in places but clean and nice.(new carpet would be next on my list, $250 on ebay) There are some cracks and flaws in Leather front seats. Back seat looks brand new. I repalced the back window switch and put crack in plastic bezel and used a screw to adhere tightly. Not big deal and did not replace since not noticable. New one is $125. GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups
Wed, 19 Feb 2014Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
Consumer Reports: Ford Fusion fun but flawed; Mitsubishi i-MiEV slow, chintzy [w/videos]
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Waiting for a Ford compliment from Consumer Reports these days is like waiting for a low-cost new product from Apple. So we weren't really expecting a glowing review of the 2013 Ford Fusion when CR got its hands on the car. The institute's crew bought three different versions of the Fusion (Hybrid, 1.6-liter EcoBoost and a Titanium with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost) to put through its barrage of tests, and while we aren't too surprised by some of the findings, they're still interesting nonetheless.
CR praises the Fusion for its "eye-catching" design and says that the sportier Titanium trim level is the best-handling midsize sedan they've ever tested, but that's about where the good news ends for Ford. The Fusion Hybrid also posted the best-ever fuel economy CR has recorded in a midsize sedan, but the only problem is that their number was 39 miles per gallon combined - far less than Ford's 47 mpg rating for city, highway and combined. As expected, CR also dinged the Fusion for its MyFord Touch, but some of the other gripes about the car include a cramped cabin and poor fit and finish.
Other Ford products tested this time around include the Focus Electric and C-Max Hybrid. Like the Fusion, CR's observed fuel economy of 37 mpg for the C-Max fell well short of Ford's advertised 47-mpg rating, and both cars were criticized for the use of MyFord Touch. CR notes that the Focus Electric's interior is also cramped, with the battery pack taking up a lot of cargo space.
