You are bidding on a very rare and very cool 4-door Ford Bronco built on the frame of a Ford F350 1-ton truck  ... This Bronco was the precursor to the Excursion, is in very nice condition inside and out, has always been serviced and is very well optioned (see description below for a list of all options and mods).  The odometer shows 43,245 on it, which from the records I believe is the current mileage on the 460 motor following a rebuild in 2002.  The F350 frame showed 125,900 for the mileage in 2003.  The body was from a 1989 Bronco and does not have a VIN associated with it.  This truck was built as an off-road vehicle so the previous owner didn't care about the interior or a perfect paint job.  He had his body man spray the truck matte black over the green and tan factory paint.  The interior is nice but not perfect.  The seats and dash are the best part, as I personally would replace the carpet and headliner.  The body is straight with no rust issues, and the engine runs very strong.  The upgrades were done correctly with high quality parts.  Everything electrical works as designed.  It drives very well, even with the lift and large tires.  The title history report shows two accidents, but the only thing carried over from the F350 donor vehicle is the frame and axles.  The Bronco donor body had no accident history and is still clear of dents, dings, etc. Photos show the condition the most accurately, so please request them.  It's a very cool, rare Bronco!

Additional Details:

(VIN: 2FTJW36G6KCA17910), matte black / tan cloth int., auto trans., 43,250 miles shown on odo., this is a very rare Ford

Bronco modified by Centurion Vehicles out of MI into a 1-ton, 4-door Bronco.  These were available new through Ford dealer

ships, and these were the precursors to the 2000 Excursion.  This Centurion features the following upgrades and Options:

windshield visor and roof rack, 7.5L 460 big block with side exit exhaust, MSD ignition, K&N air filter, C-6 auto trans with HD

torque converter and shift kit, balanced steel driveshaft, F350 1-ton frame, axles and suspension, 2H/4H/4L selectable 4x4,

Skyjacker lift kit, 3rd row seating w/ second row bench, power driver seat with lumbar, power front windows & rear window /

locks / cruise, tilt steering wheel, interior wood package, overhead console package, towing package with electric brake

controller, Pioneer in-dash CD with Rockford Fosgate amp and Infinity 10" subs in custom boxes, alloy rims with 37x12.5-R16

GoodYear Wrangler MT mud tires, over $7,200.00 invested in the mods, not including the F350 or Bronco!  If you want some

thing rare and unique with the ability to haul 9 people and their luggage this is the truck for you.  You won't ever see another

one of these on the road or at you local 4x4 show.

About Centurion conversion:

From the late 1980s through its demise in 1996, the Bronco was also sold at Ford dealerships as a modified 4-door SUV (making

it similar to the Excursion or Suburban). These 4-door Broncos were converted by Centurion Vehicles of White Pigeon, Michigan.

The conversion involved combining a new club cab short bed F-Series truck with a Bronco body, tailgate and fiberglass top. The

end result?  A huge, versatile, extremely rugged SUV.  In addition to adding a third row of seats and more room, a Bronco Centurion

could be ordered using an F-350 as the donor pickup, allowing the Centurion to have such engines as the 7.3L PowerStroke turbo

diesel and the 7.5L 460ci gasoline V8.  This made the Centurion more appealing to people in need of a comfortable tow vehicle,

albeit a faster one.  Over time the few of these cars that still exist are rare and valuable, except for the certain percentage of Northern

cars that suffered from tailgate rust-out due to poor body paint preparation.  The Bronco Centurion could be ordered with options

such as a third-row seat that can be folded into a bed, second row bucket seats, a TV with a VCR, and a built-in radar detector.

Ford to build next F-150, outgoing model concurrently?

Wed, 24 Jul 2013

Ford is rumored to be considering concurrent production for old and new F-150 models in a bid to minimize supply chain disruptions and inventory. Automotive News is reporting that the Blue Oval will build both the current F-150 and its replacement, which we showed you testing just last month, side by side for about half a year before switching over entirely to next-generation production.
As IHS Automotive analyst Mike Jackson told AN, "In order to ramp up, you have to retool...and that means you have to take capacity offline." Building both models alongside could allow Ford to cope with the still strong demand for the current F-150, while populating dealer supplies and working out supply chain kinks for the new model before making a full-time switch.
A loss of capacity when demand is so strong, even for a short period, could spell bad news for Ford, which nets an estimated 90 percent of its global profit on pickups and large SUVs. As AN states, Ford produces the F-150 in both Kansas City, Missouri and Dearborn, Michigan, which allows it to maintain some degree of flexibility in production. The new F-150 is expected to arrive at the 2014 North American International Auto Show as a 2015 model, with a design inspired by the Atlas Concept first shown at the Detroit Auto Show last January.

Weekly Recap: Marchionne's Manifesto again calls for industry consolidation

Sat, May 2 2015

Sergio Marchionne isn't taking no for an answer. Despite public rebuffs from General Motors and Ford, the leader of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles continues to push for consolidation within the auto industry. His latest assertion came Wednesday when he said a combination of FCA with another automaker could net savings of $5 billion or more annually. No, this isn't about selling his company, he claimed, it's about cutting costs. Put simply, the auto industry wastes money, Marchionne said during FCA's earnings conference call. Companies invest billions to develop basic components that all cars use, but many consumers don't care how they work or recognize the differences. "About half of this is really relevant in terms of positioning the car in the marketplace," he said. "The other half, in our view, is stuff which is neither visible to the consumer nor is it relevant to the consumer." In 2014, top automakers spent more than $100 million on product development, FCA estimated. Marchionne said consolidation could save up to $1 billion on powertrains alone, noting that almost every automaker offers four- and six-cylinder engines. Not everyone has to make their own, he contended. "The consumer could not give a flying leap whose engines we are using because they are irrelevant to the buying decision." That's pretty provocative for enthusiasts, but less so for average consumers. Still, there are major differences in power and efficiency ratings, even among similar engines. Skeptics could argue consolidation would also weaken competition and reduce choices for car buyers. Marchionne stressed his presentation, curiously entitled Confessions of a Capital Junkie, wouldn't require closing factories or dealerships. It's not his final "big deal" as CEO, intent to sell FCA, or a way to elevate his company up the automotive food chain. He claims he wants to fundamentally change the industry and its habit for burning cash. "The horrible part about this, and the thing that I find most offensive, is that the capital consumption rate is duplicative," he said. "It doesn't deliver real value to the consumer and it is in its purest form, economic waste." Other News & Notes Ford Profits dip in first quarter Ford profits fell $65 million to $924 million in the first quarter, hampered by slight dips in revenue and sales.

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry

Wed, Dec 1 2021

The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer.  The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
