Up for sale is my 1978 Bronco Ranger XLT

I bought it in 2010 and made some serious upgrades!

Upgrades by previous owner at Purchase in 2010
Detroit Lockers in the Front and the Rear Axles with 4.10 gears
Warn Hubs
4" suspension lift
2" body lift
37" x 12.50" Goodyear Wranglers
CD player stereo
newer bucket seats
15 x 10 aluminum wheels
custom rear bumper
Flip Up Sunroof

Upgrades by me since 2010 (This has been a work in progress so there are practically NO MILES on these upgrades)
351M Engine with 95,500 miles has the following upgrades:
Comp Cam Extreme energy kit that included valve springs, timing set, hydraulic lifters, Cam.
All the smog crap removed!
Hardened Pushrods
New Spark Plugs
New MSD wires
New MSD Blaster II coil
New dist cap and rotor
New Edelbrock 400 Performer Aluminum Intake
New Holley Truck Avenger 670 cfm 4 barrel Carb
New Chrome Valve covers
New Gasket and seal kit
New Chrome K&N air cleaner
New Interstate battery (with quick disconnect)

Transmission C6 Fresh from Rebuild
NP205 Transfercase Fresh gasket and seal kit just installed

Brakes were complete gone through by Donahue Auto in early 2012 and they replaced a caliper in the front and a Brake Cylinder in the rear.
I had to replace the front brake line that runs across the axle so that is new.

New Battery 5/1/2012 (Megatron II)

New Flaming River Steering Shaft installed 2011 and is practically unused as of yet.

New Ignition set installed 2011 (thought this was where the battery was draining but it wasnt so that is new)

New Flowtech painted headers, new exhaust pipes, and (2) new 31" cherry bombs making true dual exhaust sound!

Transmission shop replaced 2 new U-Joints in the driveline that were going bad..

New ignition and key set 09-2011, new voltage regulator 05-2013

Factory options
Dana 44 Front is reinforced and it looks to be factory installed (disk brakes up front)
Ford 9 inch rear end (Drum Brakes) Donahue auto said they were fine no work needed other than the driverside brake cylinder was replaced.
It has a couple options that were on Free Wheeling Broncos like the cactus pusher on the front bumper and the rally style steering wheel. (both of which are rare items)

Body:
The body needs help if you plan to make it a show truck or restore. I am leaving the truck as is because it will be for trails and light road use. The top comes off and on easily and I have not had any leaks of any kind. The rear window has always worked for me.

If you have any more questions let me know in a message.

This vehicle just finished up at the transmission shop, and just came back from the exhaust shop getting the cherry bombs installed.

The body work will be the last major work. If that is your specialty this is the vehicle for you. If you just want a nice mud truck or trail truck and could care less about the exterior this is definitely the truck for you. Ford V8, C6, NP205, Detroit Lockers, 4.10 gears, 6" of lift, fullsize classic vehicle, 37" tires! Upgraded brakes, fresh transmission, tons of added power to the super strong 351M.

Interior: http://youtu.be/r7Nplf0a0jU

This vehicle does not come with a warranty of any kind.  I would be a good idea if you plan to make a trip longer than 30 miles to bring a trailer.  It is not really street legal in Illinois, because of ride height.

Merecedes-Benz EQS, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Subaru Forester Wilderness | Autoblog Podcast #702

Fri, Oct 29 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. They've been driving some exciting new EVs, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and the Mercedes-Benz EQS. They also discuss driving the new Subaru Forester Wilderness, as well as the perfectly agreeable Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid. James compares four big-name off-roaders — the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner and Land Rover Defender — based on their ability to accommodate a big load of luggage. Next they reach into the mailbag for comments on the Genesis GV70, as well as a Spend My Money question about replacing a wrecked Subaru Ascent with another three-row SUV. Send us your questions for the Mailbag and Spend My Money at: Podcast@Autoblog.com. Ford looks back on 50 years of the Mustang in Detroit

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

Ford has something special sitting in its booth here at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. In fact, it brought two special somethings in the form of the Ford Mustang 1 Concept that first saw the light of day in 1962 and the very first production Mustang that rolled off the production line in 1964.
These classic creations are sharing floor space with the brand-new 2014 Mustang in honor of the pony car's 50th Anniversary. Since Ford's latest 'Stang already made its auto show debut (at a number of locations, including Los Angeles), we think it's pretty cool that the Blue Oval did something special for its home-town show.
Check out both the Mustang 1 Concept and first production 1964.5 Mustang above and below.

Diesel details: Comparing Ram 1500 EcoDiesel, Chevy Silverado Duramax, Ford F-150 Powerstroke

Thu, Jun 13 2019

With specifications for the 2019 Ford F-150 Power Stroke diesel already out, and the details on the 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and Chevy Silverado Duramax (and its GMC Sierra twin) trickling out, we felt it was a good time to start comparing the full-size trucks' light-duty diesels. Bear in mind, we've only driven one of these new diesel trucks, so we'll be sticking to numbers for now. Some numbers haven't been announced yet, either, but stay tuned, because we'll be updating this post with additional specifications as they become available. And if you want to compare any other versions of these trucks with other vehicles, be sure to check out our comparison tool. Now let's start comparing, starting with our big chart of numbers below. As we can plainly see, these trucks are quite closely matched. Each one has six cylinders, a displacement of 3.0 liters and a turbocharger to boost it. The output of each is somewhat close, too. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the torque king at 480 pound-feet, 20 more than the GM trucks and 40 more than the Ford. The GM trucks win on power, though, with 277 ponies, 17 more than the Ram, and 27 more than the Ford. GM does report that you get their trucks' peak 460 pound-feet of torque from 1,500 rpm to 3,000 rpm, whereas the others only report peak torque at a particular point in the rev band, but all of these trucks should have wide, flat torque curves as you would expect from modern turbodiesels. 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel View 8 Photos Engine output is only one part of the truck performance equation. We also have towing and payload capacity, as well as fuel economy. With towing, the Ram 1500 is the current leader with a maximum capacity of 12,560 pounds. That tops the Ford F-150's 11,400-pound tow rating by well over 1,000 pounds. The F-150 can carry 2,020 pounds in its bed, but we don't know yet whether that's better or worse than the Ram or the GM trucks. We also don't have numbers for the GM trucks' towing capacities. View 9 Photos As for fuel economy, the Ford F-150 manages a thoroughly impressive 22 mpg in the city and 30 on the highway with two-wheel drive. Choosing four-wheel drive drops those numbers to 20 and 25 respectively. The fuel economy numbers for the Ram, Chevy and GMC haven't been revealed yet, but for some comparison, we can look at the old Ram EcoDiesel. That truck's best fuel economy was 20 in the city and 27 on the highway with two-wheel drive.
