This is a 78 model full size Bronco with 4 wheel drive. It has the 4.10 gear ratio with lock-out hubs. 4x4 works good. Engine is the 351M400 with an automatic transmission. I parked it earlier this winter because as it is, its pretty hard on fuel due to a fowl carburetor. It starts and runs ok as is, and can be driven but there is some fuel seepage at front of carb...Possibly the fuel injector pump in carb is sticking. So its going to need the carb attended to, or changed. It is licensed through May 2013, and I have the clear title in hand. New parts are entire front member gears...(ring, pinion, side, spiders...entire gear cage), also new are windshield wipers, fuel pump, and fuel tank. It needs a new fuel level sending unit in tank, and also an up/down dash control switch for the rear door glass. I also noticed when I was driving it earlier this winter, a clunk sound towards the rear of vehicle between accelerations...This may be a u-joint, but I think more likely something worn or loose in the rearend, but I havent looked into it so cant know for sure. Could also use new tires. Windshield is cracked. original grille missing, but I do have an entire front grille with square headlights from a vehicle 2 years newer that I will include. As you can see in pics, the hood hinge supports of cab are excellent shape. The odometer reads 18959.8 so I'm just assuming mileage to be 118k. I need the money more right now to pay prop taxes and such, rather than keep and continue to fix up, so here it is for sale. 218-835-8991.

Ford files trademark application for 'Model E'

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

In early December, Ford filed an application with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the name "Model E." Historically, Ford never produced a Model E, and while automakers are known to file for trademarks they never use, some have wondered if the application might be used for a concept car.
Based on other recent events, though, it could be a legal move. In 2000 Ford sued an online start-up called Model E over the similarity of that name to Ford's industry-shaping Model T, but the judge dismissed the case citing lack of proper grounds. In August 2013, Tesla applied for trademark registration for Model E, and at the time, Ford said it would review the application. Tesla actually made two applications for Model E, one for automobiles and structural parts therefore, the other for "providing maintenance and repair services for automobiles," and there are plenty of theories about what the name could be applied to.
The Published for Opposition date for Tesla's applications is December 31, 2013, after which anyone who thinks they'd be harmed by Tesla being granted the trademark gets 30 days to register their issues. This is just speculation, but Ford's application - which was filed for automobiles only - might be about protecting what it sees as unwelcome encroachment on the name Model T, protection it wasn't able to enforce before when the stakes were only online and much smaller.

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.

Ford Mustang hit by Moore' Oklahoma's EF5 tornado lives to do another burnout

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

Oklahoma recently saw the destructive power of an EF5 tornado, but in the aftermath of the devastation, we've also been witness to the incredible resilience of the human spirit. Moore, OK resident Jack Haden survived the storm but found that his 2003 Ford Mustang wasn't quite as lucky. As you can see in the image above, the tornado's 200+ mph winds did quite a number on the car, but while most people would have likely called their insurance company and scrapped the car, Haden had other plans.
After finding the car and seeing that its V6 still fired up, Haden spent a couple hours getting the car, um... roadworthy(?)... by removing the doors and front clip, cutting off the roof and putting on some new wheels and tires. He noticed that driving it around brought some comic relief to an area that needed a reason to laugh and smile. Check out the KSBI TV news report video below showing before and after pictures of the tough 'Stang, as well as a video showing the newly lightweight coupe doing a smoky burnout.
