If you've been looking for a deal on a great daily driver and a well equipped weekend play toy...this is it! This 1977 Ford Bronco was overhauled by Build a Bronco 3 years ago. We bought this rig out of Tennessee and drove it to Florida. Before I get into to the details let me just start by saying. This is phenomenal running, driving, stopping, and handling Bronco. It steers straight, stops straight, runs 65 mph with no bumps, wobbles, or rattles whatsoever. Exterior of bronco was sanded down and primed and a new base coat , clear coat PPG paint job was applied. I would describe as very nice driver quality and glossy. Undercarriage was sanded and undercoating applied to all body panel. The frame was sanded down primed, and sprayed with high end satin frame paint. It has a 2.5" suspension lift installed and shocks. The front disc brakes were serviced and rear brakes changed. All the u-joints, bushings, axle seals, etc. were inspected and are in good condition. Previous owner spent big money installing a custom Dana 60 rear axle. For all you Bronco enthusiasts you know this is a very rare expensive upgrade to your bronco. At least a 3k upgrade. Exhaust is new and sounds great and for certain states like Texas, catalytic converters were installed. New 33x12.50x18 Toyo Open Country and Dick Cepek wheels and tires installed. New bumpers, fender flares, and lights installed. A new soft top and bikini top installed a year ago. As for the drive train. This truck operates flawlessly...no leaks, no sloppy transmission, and 70# of oil pressure. Past owner had a Jasper engine installed, rebuilt transmission, and rebuilt transfer case installed 1 year ago or 1500 miles. I have the 4500 receipt to prove that also. and the Jasper warranty package for the registered engine as indicated by the pics. So you have almost 2 years left on your transferrable motor warranty. Interior has been undercoated. A marine grade stereo installed with 6x9's in the rear, a nice 4 point roll bar, corbeau racing seats, and original rear seat installed. Air conditioning blows ice cold, all gauges, switches, lights, etc work properly. This is a turn key ride and drive, road tested truck. Please bid with confidence, contact us at Velocity Restorations with any further questions regarding this bronco or any of the other Broncos you've seen us complete. We are a full Bronco restoration shop from daily drivers and off-road rigs to high end frame off custom builds. Feel free to have any inspector come inspect this truck. This truck is priced to sell. If you've seen, 90% of our Broncos sell before auction ends because our pricing is realistic. All deposit are 100% non-refundable and bronco is sold as-is, where-is.

Top torque-to-weight ratios under $100k, $50k and $25k
Tue, 07 Oct 2014Horsepower may steal a lot of headlines, but the always-more-complex torque figure is often a critical one for both the workingman and the motoring playboy. The measure of rotational force represents the twist that can liquefy one's tires or haul one's horse trailer. Good stuff.
It follows then, that as with the horsepower-to-weight list that we assembled for you a few months ago, a list of cars that offer the most pound-feet with the fewest pounds to carry, is an interesting one to break down. Sure, there's a big difference in how the torque is applied from a turbocharged six-cylinder in a Swedish luxury sedan and a massive heavy-duty truck's turbo-diesel. But being the car/stat geeks that we are, we think it's kinda neat that those two vehicles rank near each other where torque and weight intersect.
As with the horsepower list, we've given you figures as pounds per every one pound-foot. Again broken down into broad price categories, we've got a mixed bag of 2014 and 2015 models here, too. Every effort has been made to select the most up-to-date prices and specs, and we've also to omitted some '14 cars that won't be re-upped after the ongoing yearly changeover.
Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.
Ford GT dominates Le Mans qualifying, gets slapped with performance adjustment
Fri, Jun 17 2016Fifty years after Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon drove the Ford GT40 to victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ford is poised for a historic return to the Circuit de la Sarthe. The new Ford GT took the top two qualifying positions in the LMGTE Pro class, and four of the top five. Ferrari's 488 filled in the rest of the spots in the top seven, the first two from AF Corse. In other words, we're primed for a reboot of the classic Ford-Ferrari feud at this year's race. Or not, as the ACO, which organizes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, announced sweeping pre-race Balance of Performance (BOP) adjustments this morning that make this year's GT class anybody's race. In LMP1, last year's overall winner Porsche locked up the top two spots with the 919 Hybrid and will lead the entire field at race start. Toyota's two-car factory effort followed with qualifying times 1.004 and 2.170 seconds behind the pole lap. Audi rounds out the manufacturer-backed LMP1 class in fifth and sixth. Full qualifying results can be found here. The storyline for the GT cars is perfect - some say too perfect. Ford's class-leading times came after BOP adjustment to the Corvette Racing C7.R before qualifying. BOP is intended to level the playing field in the class by adjusting power, ballast, and fuel capacity. (Check out this explainer video for more, or even just if you love French accents.) But the process is riddled with unknowns and ripe for accusations of sandbagging. That is, if the Ford cars were intentionally slow in practice they could hope for BOP adjustment to improve their race chances. On the Corvette side, last year's GTE Pro winner went from the top of the field to the bottom, barely improving from practice to qualifying. If you think Le Mans is as rigged at the NBA Playoffs, well, it's not that simple. Because if Ford and Ferrari held back until qualifying - the eighth-place Porsche 911 RSR is three-and-a-half seconds off the class pole time - it was a pretty dumb strategy. This morning, the ACO tried to put things back in order by limiting the boost in the Ford GT's twin-turbo V6 and adding 11 pounds of ballast. Ferrari was also given extra weight but allowed more fuel capacity. The Corvette and Aston Martin teams were both given breaks on their air restrictors, which will allow their engines to make more power. Both Ford and Porsche also received extra fuel capacity.
