1974 Ford Bronco Early Frameoff Restoration Restomod Motorswap Fiberglass Body on 2040-cars
Richardson, Texas, United States
1974 Ford Bronco Early Frame Off Restoration. RestoMod. Motor Swap. Body Swap. This is an amazing Early bronco, it looks great, dialed in mechanically and drives wonderfully. It will crawl or cruise (well) over highway speeds. I drive it often up and down the highway to work or out on the town. It tracks straight, shifts smooth and has no slack in the steering. The Bronco has a pronounced sound, with a nice deep growl produced by the 351 with headers and true dual side pipes. It is tagged, titled and inspected. All lights, electrical and gauges work too, of course. The Bronco has had a number of modifications and improvements over the years, in multiple phases. It began years ago as a frame off project from the ground up. All components were improved. The frame was sand blasted and epoxy painted. Suspension replaces. The drive train was imported to a Winsor 351 with C4 Automatic transmission. Then topped off with a new fiberglass body, fenders, hardtop and hood; there is nearly $10k just in fiberglass parts (doors and tailgate are OEM metal). In more recent history it has brand interior; new smittybuilt front and rear seats (spice color), seat belts, new stereo (6x9s amp 12” sub), interior bed liner and matching soft top. I also have a fiberglass hardtop that is white, which will be included in the buy it now price. If you do not care for the top I will lower the buy it now. New professional bodywork and paint with warrantee (factory red.) dash and interior doors also painted. It is a good driver quality; prime, 4 coat red, 4 coat clear. Paint is not show quality; it has not been wet sanded and buffered so therefore has a few imperfections. But it works well from me, I didn’t want to overdo it and the paint detour me from using the truck at the trails near my house or letting the kids and dogs pile in and have fun cruising as a family. The odometer shows 46k, I don’t have evidence if this is the actual mileage or if it is truly 146k, but given it’s a restored condition, and a motor swap, the mileage is not a true depiction of the truck and of little concern. More Details and Specifications: · Custom bumpers – 4” square tube with grill guard – silver powder coat (light bezels also power coated) · New Stereo – CD\USB, 5.5”s, 6x9”s Kenwood amp and 12” sub · Dana 44 and Ford 9” both with 4.11 - Both axles rebuilt · 23 Gallon fuel tank · Chrome Power brakes booster · Power steering · Pro Comp Mud Terrain tires – 35x12.5x15 · C4 Trans – Rebuilt – very firm shifts · 351w motor - Rebuilt · Flow Cooler aluminum water pump · Edelbrock Performer intake · Holley 750 double pump- dialed in, very consistent and reliable · Duff oil pan and pickup tube · New seals on oil pan, water pump timing cover · Main seals front and rear · Duff headers – 2.5” into glasspacks with 3.5” turn downs in front of rear tires to the sides · Flow Kooler 4 core radiator · Battery mounted in right rear · Kentrol fiberglass body - OE doors, windshield frame, and tailgate · Kentrol fiberglass full top with Duff tinted bubble windows = If you don’t care for the hard top, let me know, I will reduce the buy it now price. · Bronco Graveyard Family roll bar · Door panels are diamond plate · OE gauges work properly · Bumpers powder coated, new starter, battery, alternator, voltage regulator, air cleaner assembly and engine main seals · Superlift adjustable track bar · Duff 2” variable rate springs · Duff poly bushings · Duff track bar drop bracket · Rancho stabilizer · Duff shocks (4) · Rancho RS-5000 shocks(2) · Bronco Graveyard traction bars (above leafs) · 3” body lift · Dana 20 Transfer case · Fyi-The diamond plate bed rails are only permanently installed. I haven’t decided if I like it better with or without. This is my personal truck, so I obviously cannot offer a warranty or guarantee. The truck is also for sale locally, so I must reserve the right to end the auction anytime for any reason. I’ve attempted to list everything as accurately as possible, but please feel free to ask any questions I will be happy to address (but due to the magnitude of questions and effort it requires to address, I must ask that you only ask questions if you are serious or have actually bid on the truck). |

2015 Mustang-based Saleen S302 to boast as much as 640 hp
Tue, 23 Sep 2014The Ford Mustang is obviously a famous performance vehicle in its own right, but it often works even better as a platform for the aftermarket to upgrade. With the all-new 2015 model just now hitting the scene, the famous tuners at Saleen are getting their improvements for the new pony car ready for the world. After recently teasing it, the specs for its fresh S302 model are officially here, along with a first look at it in profile.
Of course, the biggest question on everyone's mind is how much power the company can get from the Mustang's V8. With the 2015 V8 model rated at 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet, Saleen expects to bump the Ford factory numbers slightly to 450 hp and 410 lb-ft in naturally aspirated form, or with the benefit of a supercharger, it will rocket the engine's output figures to 640 hp and 565 lb-ft. No matter which powerplant a buyer chooses, there are a wide variety of available final-drive ratios with a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox.
Available as either a coupe or convertible forms, Saleen will offer its S302 in three trim levels - White Label, Yellow Label and Black Label. The White Label is the only naturally aspirated one of the bunch, but it still benefits from upgrades like a new exhaust, limited-slip differential, improved suspension, heat extractor hood and rear wing.
Junkyard Gem: 1993 Mercury Topaz GS Sedan
Sat, Aug 13 2022As long as the Mercury brand existed — a period spanning the 1939 through 2011 model years — nearly every Mercury sold in the United States was more or less a redecorated Ford model. The Torino had its Montego sibling, the Crown Victoria had the Grand Marquis, the Cougar was based on everything from the Mustang to the Mondeo, and so on. Naturally, when the folks in Dearborn developed the Ford Tempo compact, a Mercury version had to be created. This was the Topaz, with the official launch of both cars taking place on the deck of the aircraft carrier often referred to as the USS Decrepit. You can't make this stuff up! The Tempo/Topaz, also known as the Tempaz, has largely faded from our collective automotive memory by now, since it broke no significant new engineering or styling ground (this story would be much different if Ford had only put the amazing straight-eight "T-Drive" Tempaz powertrain into production) and didn't have any endearing features other than being a cheap domestic competitor to the Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Still, close to 3 million Tempazes left North American Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms during the 1984-1994 period. As you'd expect, most of these disposable cars disappeared from both the street and the car graveyard long ago. It takes a very special Tempaz for me to break out my camera while I'm patrolling my local wrecking yards; generally, this means an ultra-rare all-wheel-drive version or at least a very early model in super-clean condition. Today's Junkyard Gem is neither, but I took one look at this spectacular Bordello Red crypto-velour-and-slippery-plastic interior and recognized that this was no ordinary junkyard Mercury. It appears that Mercury had dropped the idea of clever names for base-grade seat fabrics by the time of the Topaz, referring to this stuff as just "cloth" in all the brochures I could find. That's too bad, because Mercurys had cool names for upholstery (e.g., Chromatex) in the old days. The interior is in very good condition but the steering wheel shows substantial wear, so I think this is a high-mile Topaz that got meticulous care from its owner or owners. Ford used five-digit odometers on these cars until the end of production, however, so we'll never know if this reading indicates 65,404 miles or 365,404 miles. The body is very straight, but there's some nasty corrosion behind the right front wheelwell.
