The front floor pans have been cut out and replaced with OE spec floor pans, one rocker was replaced, and there was some rust around the fender wells in the back area. The rust was cut out and new metal welded in prior to us purchasing it. We replacd all brakes, wheel cylinders, some lines, and brakes are operate and function better than new now. Body was sanded to bare metal, high build primer applied, PPG torch Red paint, and 4 coats of high solids clear applied. Then we cut and buffed out to 3000 grit. Paint looks very glossy and deep. Hard top was blasted down, removed windows and seals, restored hard top, and put new seals back in. Interior was removed and cleaned up. Original front and rear seats are in good condition. We did apply Raptor undercoating in the tub of this Bronco for protection and durability. Doors were completely dissembled and painted off the bronco then reinstalled and lubed for proper operation. Undercarriage was sanded and epoxy black frame paint applied. We also undercoated the body underneath with a very durable undercoating. Radius bushings, c-bushings, springs, and new Skyjacker shocks were installed. The previous owner said motor was rebuilt approximately 2 years ago. We rebuilt the carburetor. Engine starts and runs great. The 3 speed transmission and clutch work properly and are in good condition. New 31x10.50x15 Goodyear Wrangler A/T's with brand new 15x8 Ion alloy bullet hole wheels were installed and high speed balanced. Autoblog Podcast #326:
Ford talking unibody Ranger replacement
Mon, 18 Feb 2013Now here's some welcome news. Car and Driver reports Ford is seriously mulling a replacement for the recently deceased Ranger, but the successor to the compact pickup's throne may not look anything like what we've seen from the nameplate in the past.
While speaking at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Doug Scott, marketing manager for Ford Trucks, said there's still a market for a smaller pickup, but that buyers expect to see a larger differentiation between the smaller utility vehicles and their full size counterparts in price, capability and fuel economy.
According to Scott, that means a vehicle with a payload capacity of around 1,000 pounds paired with a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds and "a dramatic reduction in fuel consumption." But the biggest piece of that recipe is the price tag, and Scott says to keep the MSRP far enough away from the already cheap F-150, the answer could come in the form of a unibody design. Scott says target customers in this market don't care whether the truck has a traditional frame or not, so long as it's tough enough to do the job and has the capability they need.
Ford Explorer Jackson Pollock Edition results in trip to hospital
Tue, 02 Jul 2013Among the many useful pieces of driving advice we've taken to heart over the years, "Safely secure all cargo" is etched pretty high on our personal stone tablets. We've had a couple of frustrating moments over the years (numerous wonky cupholders and too-tall lidded cups; a radar detector that released its suction cups and dashed itself below the dashboard, etc.), but never anything like the scene above.
These photos above come courtesy of the Washington State Patrol, and they show the unfortunate aftermath of a driver, his dog, and his Ford Explorer after it crashed near the town of Belfair last week. According to reports, the man was schlepping five-gallon containers of paint inside his vehicle when he was involved in an unexplained accident. It's not clear what triggered the crash, but the impromptu abstract painting covered the whole of the interior, including the driver and his faithful companion.
The man was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries, and his dog was cleaned and later taken to a humane society.
