1988 Mustang 5.0 Lx Hatchback 5 Speed 22,700 Miles, Clean And Original on 2040-cars
Oregon, Ohio, United States
1988 Mustang 5.0 LX hatchback 5 speed. I bought this car a month ago to add to my collection only to get told by my wife that I was done collecting. Car is in original condition and is very clean. Oxford White with Gray Cloth interior. Options; Custom Equipment Group with A/C, Dual illuminated Visor Mirrors, Tilt Wheel, Power Windows, Cruise, Rear Window Defroster, AM/FM Cassette Premium Sound, Power Locks including hatchback, and molding Accent Stripe ($49 option). Car will have a brand new Motorcraft battery! There are multiple BB sized paint chips on the hood that are touched up nicely. One dime sized dent in the passenger door (pictured) will need paint less dent and a smaller dent in the left fender. Front bumper has 4 drill holes half the size of a pencil. They have been touched up with paint and are not seriously detracting. Could be easily filed or will be covered with a licenses plate bracket. The car will need tires, it has the original Goodyear Gator backs which are available through 5.0 resto or you could buy BF/TAs. I do not recommend driving this car long distance on current tires. A/C is not working, it will need R134 conversion to operate correctly. Window sticker and manuals included plus older California car cover in decent condition. If you are looking for a clean original survivor 5.0, 5 speed hatchback with a beautiful interior this is a strong contender. Car drives and sounds great and gets tons of attention. I'm sad to let it go! I will consider returning deposit if you are not satisfied after inspection only at time of pick up. If car is transported prior to inspection it is sold as is. I will drive car to a transport pickup location in the Toledo Ohio area. $2000 paypal deposit due in 48 hours, balance by paypal if shipped, cash or paypal if picked up. Write with questions and thanks for looking. Chris

2016 Ford Mustang SVT hides big power under its domed hood
Tue, 17 Jun 2014With a number of 2015 Ford Mustang versions finally available to configure, the fun of speculating about next year's high-performance 'Stang can now begin. It looks like Ford has something seriously fun planned too. One of our spy photographers just snapped some fresh pics of the 2016 Mustang SVT, which is believed to be hiding the final body shape under all of that heavy camouflage.
Ford clearly doesn't want prying eyes looking at its new pride and joy. It would be hard to put much more obfuscation on a car than this one wears - it even has mesh baffles around the exhausts to conceal how many there are and panels over the wheels to hide their design. However, the Blue Oval can't keep everything a secret. The biggest clue that something special is hidden underneath is the massive hood bulge and vent in front of it. Clearly, whatever is under there is hungry for cool air. The shape of the camo indicates that there may be fender vents on each side, and there are also obscured outlets behind the front wheels likely to pull cool air through the brakes. At the rear, the concealment does its job, making it hard to observe any big changes. The fact that Ford wants it kept such a secret might indicate something, though.
A few photos of the interior show far less cover than the outside. You can easily make out the model's 6,500 rpm redline with a possible 7,000 rpm over-rev function. The big Recaro sport seats also look quite supportive.
Ford forced to recall Escape over fire risk yet again
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Recalls happen. Automakers hope they won't, but they do. And that's alright, for the most part, because cars are designed (and to a large degree still made) by humans, and humans make mistakes. So we forgive them, as long as the problem is resolved. Only in the case of the Ford Escape, the problem seems to keep coming back.
That's why Ford is calling in the Escape yet again due to fire concerns. The issue revolves around problematic fuel lines in 9,469 units manufactured between October 5, 2011, and July 11, 2012, all of which use the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine.
As you yourself may recall, the Escape was subject to a string of recalls last year that resulted in a $17 million fine. One of them was over this very same issue, which Ford apparently didn't rectify the first time around. Let's hope this time is the last time.
Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey
Fri, 01 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively. You can read the full press release below for more information, or head over to the Consumer Reports site.
