Karma Revero revealed, along with solar roof that powers the car

While we obviously know the general shape of the upcoming Karma Revero - it's based on the old Fisker Karma, after all – the exact details of the Revero are still a bit under wraps. Thankfully, today the Karma Automotive website was updated with some new information about the reborn plug-in hybrid. Say hello to what we know about the Revero. The Fisker's solar roof is still there, but now Karma Automotive says that it, "will create enough energy to power the car." Now there's something we need more details on, but all that Karma is saying for now is that, "No other vehicle sold in the US has ever offered this capability. Our owners consider our solar roof an important element in our brand identity, and we listened." The front and rear Karma badges on each Revero will be are hand-painted. "No other car company has ever done this," Karma says. "Consider it a small but symbolic statement about craftsmanship and individuality." Sure, fine. Lastly, Karma says the infotainment system will be updated and says, "Our new infotainment system represents a departure from the norm. It is simple, intuitive, and beautiful. If you like a 200 page supplement to the owner's manual to describe your infotainment system, look elsewhere." In other words, whew. If this all sounds a bit exclusive, you're right. Jim Taylor, Karma's chief revenue officer, said in a statement that, "Serving a mass market is not, and never will be, our purpose. The Revero is for a discerning group of individuals who desire beautiful, clean vehicles and a memorable ownership experience. We are thrilled to start this journey." Karma said earlier this week that it would sell the Revero through dealerships and company stores in 10 markets in North America. Karma Automotive, which is owned by Wanxiang Group, will officially debut the vehicle at a launch party for the media and owners (that means Fisker Karma owners, since the Revero is not yet available) in Laguna Beach, California on September 8. A pre-order window for the Revero will open up for Fisker owners that same day. While we're there, we'll see if the rumors that the company also plans to bring the Atlantic concept to market are anything more than wishful thinking. See the Fisker Ocean electric crossover on video for the first time

We’ve already seen the Fisker Ocean crossover in the flesh at its global debut at CES 2020, but, as always, that was just the beginning of its story. Fisker had planned on bringing its new electric car to the Geneva Motor Show, but, sadly, the entire expo was canceled on account of coronavirus concerns. Nonetheless, Fisker still had something to deliver to those intrigued by the eco-friendly EV — which has a relatively sane starting price of $37,499 — including more details, new photos and even some running footage of the Ocean testing at the track. With this latest PR salvo, we learn more about the OceanÂ’s underpinnings. It uses a multi-link rear suspension to help bolster its sporting chops, packaged to save space and provide more room for cargo in the trunk. Fisker says this multi-link is mounted on an isolated subframe in order to reduce vibration and noise, so that handling doesnÂ’t come at the cost of comfort. As for efficiency, Fisker describes an aerodynamic system that aims to balance minimizing drag with optimized cooling. The novelty is less in the concept than the approach. The air flowing toward to radiator is regulated by a computer in order to maximize driving range. In terms of safety, Fisker highlights the OceanÂ’s structure, which was designed with special focus on protecting the battery pack during side-impact crashes. So, yeah, thatÂ’s not a ton of new info. WeÂ’re not surprised, as weÂ’ve expected Fisker to feed us details of the Ocean crumb by crumb until its actual production launch in the last quarter of 2021. WhatÂ’s perhaps more interesting than the completely expected attention to comfort, efficiency and safety is that this release give us our first look of the Fisker Ocean actually driving: To recap earlier coverage, the all-electric Fisker Ocean will offer up to 300 miles of range on a charge from its 80+ kWh battery, and all-wheel drive will be offered on all but the base model. The Ocean can add 200 miles of driving range in 30 minutes on a 150-kW DC charger. It will offer up to 250 kW (335 horsepower), but a more powerful performance version will be detailed at a later date, targeting a 0-60 time of 2.9 seconds. The Ocean is 182.7 inches long, 76 inches wide, and 63.6 inches tall, with a cargo volume of 20 cubic feet that expands to 25 with a parcel shelf, and a max volume of 45 cubes with the rear seats down. The base model will have 20-inch wheels, with 22-inchers available.

Fisker electric pickup truck previewed in rendering

Fisker CEO and car designer Henrik Fisker has posted an illustration of an electric pickup, promising class-leading efficiency and radical design. The rendered truck features muscular flared fenders, a rooftop spoiler that doubles as a center high-mount stop light (CHMSL), and neat taillights that extend onto the bedsides. It's billed as a lifestyle vehicle rather than a workhorse, and does not wear any obvious name on the tailgate. The image was posted to Fisker's personal LinkedIn profile, as discovered by CarBuzz, along with the following caption: "Ok, yes, next vehicle might be a lifestyle pick up truck! But not just any truck! We want to create the lightest, most efficient EV pick up in the world! Making it, the most sustainable! image is just a teaser! Not the final: final will be way more radical!" While Fisker's excitement is conspicuous, and the truck does look cool, we can't help but question whether a production version is actually coming. About a year ago, Fisker tweeted an image of a pickup truck named the Alaska and then quickly deleted it. It had been captioned, "After our Fisker electric SUV, we have already decided on our next 2 EV’s on the same platform!" referring to what turned out to be the Ocean crossover. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be revealed just yet, or perhaps the timing was poor, considering that it came just days after a huge round of layoffs. In fact, Fisker has been bleeding talent, with one whistleblower claiming that the company is putting on a smoke-and-mirrors show to grab more cash from its Chinese investors. Whether or not the truck is vaporware, the projected timeline puts production sometime around 2025. It will be entering a very crowded marketplace, with 10 possible competitors coming to the EV pickup market, some coming from far more established players.
