Fiat reveals new Aegea Project sedan in Istanbul

You'd be forgiven for boiling Fiat down to the 500 and its growing roster of spinoffs, but overseas the Italian brand sells a wide range of models. Like this new sedan, for example. Unveiled today at the Istanbul Motor Show is the Fiat Aegea Project, in reference to the sea on the western shore of Turkey, where FCA operates one of its largest plants. The Fiat Aegea Project has about the same exterior dimensions as a Ford Focus sedan, with room for five and an array of gasoline and diesel engines ranging from 95 horsepower to 120, mated to a manual or automatic transmission. While tacking a trunk on to a hatchback (or carving a notch out of a sport wagon) may be common practice with some of its competitors, the Aegea was designed from the get-go as a three-box sedan, giving it better balanced proportions. Design work was carried out in Italy at the company's Centro Stile, with development undertaken at the Tofas R&D center adjacent to the Bursa plant where it will be built. Though sure to get a different name before it reaches production, the Aegea is slated to go on sale in Turkey this coming November before rolling out to 40 more markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Just don't expect it to see it nestled between a couple of neo-Cinquecentos in showrooms Stateside. Chrysler Group moves around execs in wake of recent departure

Chrysler is busy shuffling executives around in the wake of Ram head Fred Diaz's departure. The automaker has named Reid Bigland (pictured, right) as Diaz's successor in the role of president and CEO of Ram, though Bigland will continue his duties as the head of US sales and the president and CEO of Chrysler Canada. Bigland first came to Chrysler in 2006 from Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation, so the guy knows a thing or two about trucks.
Meanwhile, Timothy Kuniskis will take over as president and CEO of Dodge. Previously, he served as the head of Fiat in North America and has been with Chrysler in one capacity or another since 1992. His old title now falls to Jason Stoicevich, who will also continue to work as the director of the automaker's California Business Center. Finally, Bruno Cattori will take over as the president and CEO of Chrysler Mexico.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has new name, logo

The question of what we'll call the new, combined empire of Fiat and Chrysler has been answered - the new entity will be known as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Initialized down to FCA, the new company will be organized in the Netherlands, meaning its full name is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. For those interested in such things, shares will be traded in the new company on both the New York and Milan stock exchanges.
Sergio Marchionne, one of the masterminds behind combining the two manufacturers, had this to say in an official statement:
"Today is one of the most important days in my career at Fiat and Chrysler. Five years ago we began to cultivate a vision that went beyond industrial cooperation to include full cultural integration at all levels. We have worked tenaciously and single-mindedly to transform differences into strengths and break down barriers of nationalistic or cultural resistance. Today we can say that we have succeeded in creating solid foundations for a global automaker with a mix of experience and know-how on a level with the best of our competitors. An international governance structure and listings will complete this vision and improve the Group's access to global markets bringing obvious financial benefits."
