Limited-run Ferrari F12 GTO supposedly headed to Frankfurt

After spy shots of a Ferrari F12 Berlinetta in Italy wearing some sticky rear-end camo went public, insiders have told GTspirit that the car is an F12 GTO and it will come to this year's Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It's hinted that the Gran Turimso Omologato changes to the 6.3-liter V12 up front might increase output from 731 horsepower to 800 hp by using the HY-KERS unit from the LaFerrari. That module provides an extra 163 hp to the supercar. True to GTO form, more power would come with less weight, the purported F12 GTO going on a diet of more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds). That would get matters of mass down to a stated curb weight of around 3,140 pounds. More technology could make the jump from its supercar sibling, all hidden underneath more aggressive bodywork and a GTO badge. A production volume of just 650 cars is mentioned, which, if true, would give buyers more chance to procure one; the Ferrari only made 599 units of the 599 GTO. Ferrari boss Montezemolo expects big changes from FIA

You'd think that with former Ferrari principal Jean Todt running the FIA, the relationship between the motorsport governing body and the team he once called home would be a solid one. But his former boss expects more from the organization that overseas Formula One.
In a recent interview (excerpts from which you can read below), Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo pointed to some perceived inconsistencies in rulings made by FIA officials this season and called for "strong changes." Among those controversies was a drive-through penalty handed to Felipe Massa at the season-closing Brazilian Grand Prix last weekend, his last for the Scuderia. Massa was reprimanded for cutting across the white line that marks the exit from the pit lane, the penalty for which dropped him from fourth place in the race to seventh, and cost Ferrari its second place in the final standings for the constructors' championship - and with it a good $10 million in prize money. Montezemolo characterized the penalty as "disproportionate and unjust".
The Ferrari chief also pointed to penalties handed to Mercedes as either too harsh or not harsh enough, calling for greater consistency in FIA rulings and implying that more permanent race stewards be appointed instead of alternating race to race.

Ferrari releases teaser video for 458 Speciale

As is the specs weren't enough, Ferrari is helping us get ready for the reveal of the 458 Speciale at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a short teaser video. You won't get much in the way of a full-body modeling session, naturally, but there are plenty of close-ups of its intakes, scoops, vanes, seriously racy bucket seats and lots and lots of carbon fiber.
And showing how omnipresent on-camera surveillance can sometimes be a good thing, the harder 458 has already been caught being tinkered with in digital photos taken at Maranello. For the moving pictures, however, there's that video below.
