The rear suspension consist of a ford solid axle with Torsion bars as the spring-ing medium, four links for longitudinal location, and a panhard rod for lateral location. Steel-tubing frame is used throughout, with the best engineering credentials in the Industry the chassis was designed by Bob Webb, a veteran Indy-Car fabricator who worked the best of the best race vehicles produced. Take a video tour of the Ferrari F12 TdF's V12 engine
Fri, Oct 16 2015Ferrari's transformation of the F12 Berlinetta from a handsome GT into a road-devouring monster – the F12 TdF – seems impressive. To make sure the engine has a wail to match the threatening exterior, the Italians massaged the 6.3-liter V12 up to 769 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. It now redlines at a screaming 8,900 rpm, and propels the coupe to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. This new video takes viewers inside the upgraded mill to illustrate how these improvements were made. Among the host of changes, the intake receives variable-geometry intake trumpets. Even in his computer-animated video, they're amazing to watch in action. Ferrari has some other tricks too, though. Let the company show you the benefits of all the tweaks in this clip.
LaFerrari testing with turbo V6 F1 engine?
Mon, 02 Dec 2013If Ford went and tested a NASCAR engine in a production Ford Fusion, it'd just be silly. Ferrari testing its new 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 Formula One engine in a LaFerrari hypercar is not silly - it's excellent.
Now, we can't be certain if the video shown above is actually Ferrari's new F1 powerplant. Based on the big roof-mounted intake, the weird sounds coming from the camo'd LaFerrari and the teasers we've been hearing from other F1 engine providers, the race engine is a tantalizing idea.
The other possibility, perpetuated by our friends over at Road & Track, is that Ferrari is using the LaFerrari to test a next-generation powerplant. That looks good on paper, but this car strikes as being far too loud for any road legal engine. What do you think? What's Ferrari up to at Fiorano? The automaker has graced us with a total of seven videos of its new hybrid supercar today including the original launch video we already showed you this morning.
The six new videos discuss a broad spectrum of topics, such as LaFerrari's overall architecture, carbon fiber chassis and body, driving dynamics and the 160-horsepower HY-KERS (HYbrid Kinetic Energy Recovery System) part of the powertrain. There is also coverage of today's auto show unveiling and, our favorite, a short video showing the car being tested around the Fiorano Circuit plus some bonus footage of past Ferrari supercars like the GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo.
In total, there is almost 30 minutes of video goodness to bring you just about all the information there is to know about LaFerrari, and all seven videos are posted below.
