Early 80's Mark Goyette and Partner Neil Glassmoyer developed a Company named Modena, and this is the "Prototype" number #01 build Modena (out of Five) that was built by Mark Goyette to scale to exact measurements and dimensions and features of a 1961 Ferrari GT 250 Spider- They started with Commissioning Bob Webb of Indy car fame (his Chassis are World Famous) The Front suspension has a upper A-arm and a lower control arm that is connected to torsion bar. The rear suspension consist of a Ford solid axle with torsion bars as the springing medium, four links for longitundinal location, and a panhard rod for lateral location. The centerpiece of this piece of art is the Steel - tubing two-by-three inch mild steel frame Bob Webb built Roger Penske race cars. On the skid pad this car generated a very respectable 0.79G! The second of owner of this car commissioned Smeding performance engines to build him a small block with the inners of a 427! Pumping out over 550HP- this car is not for the faint of heart, along with competion clutch and five speed transmission and straight handbuilt headers into side pipes this thing is a beast. The car has over $500,000 into manufacturing and production- This is the very car that John Hughes saw and picked for the Movie Ferris Bueller! It has been in several magazines and pictures are seen throughout the World in Movie Banners.

Modena design was sued after the Movie Ferris Bueller aired by Ferrari Motorcars and a cease and desist order was issued and the production was halted! Five cars were built by Mark Goyette the other 30 or so were sold as kits.

Quartet of Ferrari FXX K supercars at Imola sound perfect

Tue, Jun 9 2015

One Ferrari FXX K is rare. But four FXX Ks in one place is super rare. But even if you are so lucky to see so many of the racers all at once, you aren't likely to see them running Imola together. So yes, you want to watch this, and turn the volume up for good measure. Considering the rarity of these vehicles, not to mention the fact that their owners can only drive them under the careful supervision of Ferrari, we imagine the logistics of getting all these cars together was either very, very easy (since the cars stay with Ferrari at all times, like the first FXX) or remarkably difficult, because of all the personnel and equipment associated with each car in the Client Test program. Either way, bask in this scene, because as we said, we probably won't see it again soon.

Watch this Koenigsegg CCX hit 211 mph on a runway, outpacing McLaren's P1

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Vmax200 in in England organizes events where those who care to show up with a supercar can run them down the two-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Evo attended the latest event, bringing an impressively green Lamborghini Aventador to test its girth and gaping vents against other precious metals like the McLaren P1 and F1, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and enough 911 Turbos to start a dealership. Speaking of those Porsches, nine of the top ten slots in the top speed competition are claimed by modified 911 Turbos.
A monochrome Swede ruled them all, though, a black-and-white Koenigsegg CCX setting fire to the speed trap run after run, hitting 211 miles per hour at its quickest. It was followed by, surprise, a 911 GT2 modified by 9E that did 210 mph. You can watch the EVO video below, GT Spirit has a bigger breakdown of the day, and we've included another vid showing the tandem launch of the CCX and McLaren F1.

John Lennon's first car being sold at auction

Thu, 09 May 2013

This is what you get as your first car after you've just passed your driver's test at the age of 25: a 1965 Ferrari 330GT 2+2 Coupe. Of course, that's assuming your name also happens to be John Lennon and you've just helped record Ticket to Ride with the rest of your Beatles cronies.
When news of Lennon getting a driver's license made the newspapers in England, luxury car makers parked outside his mansion with offerings and this is the one he chose, painted Azzuro Blue with a blue interior. He paid 6,500 pounds, said to be equivalent to 110,000 pounds today ($170K US).
Bonhams will be auctioning the blue Italian at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 12. It was just one of 500 built, has been restored to its original condition, has matching numbers and its original license plate number. The pre-auction estimate is between 180,000 and 220,000 pounds ($278K - $340K US).
