Modena opens new Enzo Ferrari museum

Enzo Ferrari was one of the 20th century's racing icons, and on the 116th birthday of its founder, Ferrari opened a lavish new wing of the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy. The new hall is shaped like the hood of a '50s Ferrari racer on the outside and contains a century's worth of the brand's history inside. Ferrari Chairman Luca di Montezemolo and Enzo's son, Piero Ferrari, dedicated the new building on February 18.
The Enzo Ferrari Museum existed previously as two buildings, including Enzo's childhood home and his father's workshop, but the new building was created to display the Prancing Horse's full history. Projectors display images and films of Enzo's like across its walls and floors, and the cars on display represent Ferrari's most important as a driver and constructor over the past century.
The new gallery is meant to compliment the Museo Ferrari in nearby Maranello. Enzo's museum focuses squarely on Ferrari's past, and the other concentrates on brand's present and future, while still displaying some important classic models. Both will be open every day, expect for Christmas and the New Year.

Ryan Tuerck's Ferrari-powered Scion drifts, crashes, fixes, and drifts again

We were pretty astonished when Ryan Tuerck and Gumout shoved a Ferrari 458 V8 into a Scion FR-S. And as awesome as that fact alone may be, it's even more amazing that it's a fully functional drifter, not just a show car. Tuerck recently took it out to Portland, Ore. to do some sweet drifting on a mountain road. Unfortunately for him and the car, he did something substantially less sweet right off the bat. As you'll see in the video, in just the second corner of the course, Tuerck drives the front corner of the GT4586 right into the dirt cliff on the side of the road. For a moment, it looks like things are all right, but the car starts pulling to the right and he stops the car for repairs. After fixing bits including a thoroughly bent tie-rod, the GT4586 is good as new. We're glad the car wasn't down for long, because the drifting show following the repairs was fantastic. In the video, Tuerck throws the Scion into high-speed, super smoky drifts. And all of it happens to the tune of a shrieking Ferrari V8. It's well worth a few minutes of your time to watch. Ferrari releases teaser video for 458 Speciale

As is the specs weren't enough, Ferrari is helping us get ready for the reveal of the 458 Speciale at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a short teaser video. You won't get much in the way of a full-body modeling session, naturally, but there are plenty of close-ups of its intakes, scoops, vanes, seriously racy bucket seats and lots and lots of carbon fiber.
And showing how omnipresent on-camera surveillance can sometimes be a good thing, the harder 458 has already been caught being tinkered with in digital photos taken at Maranello. For the moving pictures, however, there's that video below.
