Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso makes us swoon [w/video]

For the past three years, we've been fortunate enough to have the folks at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera bring something very special to the Geneva Motor Show: the Alfa Romeo 8C-based Disco Volante. First, it showed up in red (twice), and then last year, arrived in a very stunning shade of green. If we're honest, we were kind of hoping there'd be a further evolution of the Disco on display at this year's show, but then Touring unveiled the beauty you see here. Meet the Ferrari F12-based Berlinetta Lusso. What we really like about the Berlinetta Lusso is how closely it resembles the F12 on which its based, but with some rough edges smoothed out. Despite looking similar, almost the entire body is new, with smoother creases and more retro-inspired design cues. Honestly, to our eyes, it looks better than the Prancing Horse's original. Mechanically, it's pretty much all F12 underneath, right down to the screaming 6.3-liter V12 with 703 horsepower. We certainly don't have any complaints about that. Ferrari 250 GTO heading to The Quail with no reserve

It's not every day that a Ferrari 250 GTO changes hands. It is, after all, one of the most highly coveted cars ever made, and there were only 39 of them built in the first place. So when one goes up for sale, it tends to fetch millions. Tens of millions, actually, and the prices keep escalating.
Throughout most of the 1980s they were trading hands for six figures. In 1989 one sold for $10 million. A few months later, $13 million. Prices fluctuated in the 90s, but by 2012, one sold for a whopping $35 million, eclipsed the following year at $52 million. Nobody knows what the next one will sell for, but we're about to find out.
That's because Bonhams has got one consigned for its upcoming auction at the Quail Lodge during Monterey weekend next month. And it's offering it without reserve, meaning that it could sell for the opening bid (however unlikely), it could break the previous record or it could land anywhere in between or beyond.

When Ferrari took the wraps off its new FXX K track machine in Abu Dhabi last week, it conspicuously left out some key details. Sure, the Prancing Horse marque told us how much power it produced, and what it had done to the aero package to make it hug the track even closer than the road-going LaFerrari on which it's based – but it didn't tell us just how fast it will go, or how much it will cost. The latest reports, however, seek to fill in those blanks. According to Ferrari marketing chief Nicola Boari in speaking to Top Gear, the FXX K will lap the company's Fiorano test track in 1 minute 14 seconds. That would make it five seconds faster than the LaFerrari, a solid second ahead of the 599XX Evoluzione and two seconds faster than the original FXX. However it seems to fall short of the eight- to nine-second gap those previous XX derivatives opened up over the road-going models on which they in turn were based. So it seems, for the time being at least, that the 1:11.9 lap time recorded by the 333 SP – an open-cockpit sports prototype from the late 1990s – will remain for now the fastest car this side of an F1 racer ever to lap the circuit. The outright record stands at under 56 seconds and belongs to Michael Schumacher in the ten-cylinder F2004 he drove to his seventh and final world championship. As for the FXX K's production, Top Gear reports that Ferrari will build fewer than 40 of them, and that they've all been spoken for – at a price of ˆ2.5 million (more than $3M) apiece.
