Grigio Silverstone with Red Interior

9,773 One-Owner Miles

I’m the original owner of this vehicle having ordered it from Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, CT on May 30th, 2008 and taken delivery the following October. Immediately thereafter I had the car moved to my home in Austin, TX where it’s been ever since. The car has always been serviced by Ferrari of Austin and nowhere else.

Please note: The Autocheck report shows this as a two-owner vehicle. That is incorrect. When I originally purchased this vehicle I did so as a  lease to my company. I later transferred the car from my company to me personally (thereby confusing the reporting agencies). All purchase and service records show this to be a one-owner vehicle. The title was transferred to my name on 8/5/14. Between the time I filled out the title paperwork, and the final inspection appointment, I drove the car for 200 miles. That is the reason for the 200-mile mileage discrepancy shown by Autocheck.

Ordered from the factory in classic Grigio Silverstone with stunning red interior, this car makes an immediate impression wherever it goes. This car was delivered with an above average MSRP of $268,103.00 (please see the photos of the window sticker). In fact, this car was so highly optioned that the full option list wouldn't even fit on the window sticker. Instead, the last line of options simply reads “other options” as follows

Options:

Power Extended Service Coverage $5,900.00

Red Brake Calipers $1,040.00

Rear Engine Grill in Carbon  $3,497.00

Carbon Fiber for Driving Zone   $5,026.00

Daytona Style Seats   $2,980.00

Electrically Operated Seats   $2,620.00

Chrome Plated Exhaust Pipes  $652.00

Fire Extinguisher  $585.00

Scuderia Ferrari Shields $1,586.00

Radio/Navigation/Bluetooth $2,254.00

Rear Parking Sensors $1,136.00

Roll Bar Upholstery Color $507.00

Other Options $4,752.00

From my original order form dated 5/30/08 (included with the sale of the vehicle) you can see that the “Other Options” are as follows:

Yellow Tachometer Face

Challenge Style Rear Segment

Reflective Leather Seats

Leather Rear Shelf and Door Moldings

Special Stitching (Black)

The car was also delivered with full, carbon ceramic disc brakes which I thought was an option but may have been included as standard equipment in 2008. The reflective leather seats is a particularly rare option and makes the car a pleasure to drive in warm climates with the top down - no matter how hot it gets, the seats stay cool - a very cool feature.

Mechanically, the car starts, stops and goes as a Ferrari should. It just passed a State of Texas safety inspection and it has always been serviced by Ferrari of Austin. Of particular note are the new front tires (correct Bridgestone Potenza’s RF050A 225/35ZR19) and a brand new clutch installed by the dealer at 8,158 miles. The clutch was installed under warranty after the dealer incorrectly set the PIS (Point of initial Slip) on my clutch during a previous service causing excessive clutch wear. The new clutch has less than 1,700 miles on it. If you’re buying a used F430, this is a huge bonus as a clutch replacement is a very costly job.

Cosmetically, this F430 Spider will exceed your expectations. I’m a collector and, as such, my cars are maintained to a degree that others may find hard to believe. I own more than 50 exotic and classic cars and maintain a full-service, staffed, and climate-controlled facility to make sure my cars are always ready to drive and kept to my meticulous standards. This car is a perfect example and is in virtually flawless cosmetic condition. The leather interior is supple and without marks or stains of any kind, the glass is perfect, the wheels are immaculate with no signs of curb rash or other damage, and the paint is impeccable. There are no dings, scratches or flaws of any kind. There aren’t even any significant rock chips owing to the professionally installed clear bra that I had applied by the dealer covering the front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, and rockers.

As shown in the photos of the pristine glove box and trunk, all the correct accessories are present and accounted for including the flashlight, tool kit, air compressor and car cover (all original packaging and all unused) as well as the Ferrari battery maintainer (always used). Also included are the manuals, 2 keys, window sticker, the original order form, and service records from Ferrari of Austin.

In addition to the clear bra, I also had the dealer install a radar detection system including a Valentine V1 radar detector and K40 laser detection. Because of the exclusive nature of this car, I spent thousands of dollars with the dealer on a custom and stealth installation. Both the V1 and K40 units were disassembled and custom installed piece-by-piece. The K40 laser sensors were hidden in the front bumper right and left grill openings while the sensors for the V1 were hidden underneath the dashboard in front of the steering wheel. The various controls were mounted under the dash to be easily reachable by the driver. Finally, the LED alerts were custom installed in the rear-view mirror. Look closely at the photos and you’ll see that this isn't an ugly aftermarket mirror but the actual Ferrari factory mirror that now holds the LED alerts and associated electronics and has been customized with a laser-engraved display showing all functions of the radar detection system. The system performs flawlessly and is nearly impossible to detect (even if you’re looking for it).

This car is available to view at my facility in Austin, TX by appointment. I encourage interested parties to come see the car in person. Pre-purchase inspections are also more than welcome. We have both an authorized dealer (Ferrari of Austin) and a leading independent shop (Moorespeed) here in town and both have excellent reputations. I’d be happy to take the car to either for an inspection at the buyer’s expense.

As a collector, I move cars on a regular basis and can recommend highly-rated transport companies to deliver the car if you’re out of state. Obviously, the associated costs will be the responsibility of the buyer.

If you have any questions, or wish to schedule an inspection, please do so before buying the car and not after. Once you've committed to a purchase by clicking “Buy It Now” I will expect a non-refundable, $1,000 deposit by Paypal within 24 hours and full payment via wire transfer or cashier’s check within 7 days. Please note that I will be leaving the country for a trip to Italy from 9/24 through 10/12 so any purchase must be completed before then.

I've done my very best to describe this car accurately and honestly and I welcome any questions vie email, in person, or over the phone. This is a spectacular car and I’m going to miss it. I’m only selling it because I’m ordering a new 458 and it doesn't make sense to have two Spiders in the garage. I hope to find this car a great home with a new owner who will love it like I have. This car deserves it.

LaFerrari testing with turbo V6 F1 engine?

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If Ford went and tested a NASCAR engine in a production Ford Fusion, it'd just be silly. Ferrari testing its new 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 Formula One engine in a LaFerrari hypercar is not silly - it's excellent.
Now, we can't be certain if the video shown above is actually Ferrari's new F1 powerplant. Based on the big roof-mounted intake, the weird sounds coming from the camo'd LaFerrari and the teasers we've been hearing from other F1 engine providers, the race engine is a tantalizing idea.
The other possibility, perpetuated by our friends over at Road & Track, is that Ferrari is using the LaFerrari to test a next-generation powerplant. That looks good on paper, but this car strikes as being far too loud for any road legal engine. What do you think? What's Ferrari up to at Fiorano? Scroll down for the video and then let us know in Comments.

Touring's rebodied Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Lusso leaks ahead of Geneva debut

Mon, Mar 2 2015

The F12 Berlinetta is, in this writer's estimation, one of the best-looking Ferraris and among the most striking automobiles on the road. But its aggressive lines, even the most die-hard fan would have to admit, may not be to everyone's taste. Like that of the customer who likely commissioned Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera to rebody this particular example. Called the Berlinetta Lusso, this coachbuilt F12 recalls a time when the 250 GT – ostensibly the F12's progenitor – was offered in performance-focused SWB guise and as the more elegant Lusso model. It bears certain obvious links to the stock version – particularly the headlights and front air vents – but takes a decidedly more graceful approach that starts to remind us more of a two-seat version of the 612 Scaglietti, especially in that shade of blue and with those wheels. As these images just surfaced, we'll have to hold on for its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show this week to delve into the full details. But chances are that Touring didn't find it necessary to tinker much with the F12's 6.3-liter V12 and its 730 horsepower, much as it has apparently left the interior largely in tact.

Totaled Ferrari Dino sculpture sold for $250k

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

How much would you pay for a Dino? Although this sub-brand was supposed to offer lower-cost alternatives to more expensive Ferraris, a 246 GTS model with "chairs and flares" can fetch big bucks. The later, more angular 308 GT4 is less desirable, but the one above just sold for $250,000. Oh, and it's a complete wreck - an absolute write-off, as you can see. So how did it fetch a quarter million when it wouldn't be worth that much in pristine condition? Because this is art.
"Objet trouvé", to be specific, the French term for a common object elevated to a work of art. That's the way it ended up displayed by celebrated French artist Bertrand Lavier and the Galerie Yvon Lambert at the Foire Internationale d'Art Contemporain (FIAC) art fair at the Grand Palais in Paris last week, where an unnamed Turkish collector paid the landmark price. Let's hope he's not planning on restoring it, because it's apparently worth more totaled.
