This was my dream car that I spent three years searching for! I wanted a 355 because nothing sounds like a 355 with a Capristo Stage 3 exhaust, which this one has that I put on new last year! Of significant importance to me was to find one that had all records and was perfectly sorted. That is THIS car. The original owner had her from 1998 to 2011. A person in Florida bought the car, put $17k in service to make her right including new headers (Fabspeed), put 300 miles on it and then sold it to me. I've made sure everything was perfected there after. I put track pipes on to replace the cats, a brand new Capristo Stage 3 exhaust ($4k) and Capristo bypass valve so it will never rattle again. I then did about about 50% of the electrical connectors with the Dave Helms Gold SRI Connector Kit which cost around $1500 plus about 20 hours labor as I was tracing down an error code. Turns out that it was just a dead O2 sensor, so I replaced all of them. The car has no codes, no issues. BODY The paintwork was fully paint corrected and is a mirror as you can see in the pics. The top looks like brand new. The Pirelli P Zero tires still have at least 75% of tread on them. The interior is in excellent condition but the seat bolsters show typical wear. Brand new battery put in this year, not due for a major service until 2015. Last Major service was by Ferrari of Tampa on 2/16/2011. Valve guides should never need replaced as it was built in April of 1998 and should have, although I haven't verified, steel sintered guides. I have the full service records and title in hand. Car has FACTORY SHIELDS, NO STICKIES, ALL BOOKS, 3 Keys (including the RED FOB), NEW BRAKE PADS. This is the car you've been looking for if you've always wanted a 6 speed manual black 355. No stories, I haven't had to put a penny into any repairs as the previous owner had all the required work done (steel braided fuel lines, headers, etc.) other than the performance upgrades with the exhaust and the bypass valve. If you want to just get in a 355 and drive it and listen to it and not worry if it's going to break down, this is the ONE. I'm only selling because I bought a 360. Winningest Ferrari ever feted by Petrolicious
Wed, 21 May 2014When Petrolicious showed its video starring the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, we weren't sure it could be topped. Now, barely two weeks later, it has. Somehow, the video crew of one of our favorite YouTube series has gotten its mitts on one of the rarest, winningest, and most unique Ferraris to ever rove the planet.
This is a 1957 Ferrari 625/250 TRC, a customized stunner originally owned by Ferrari importer John Von Neumann that won a number of races across the country during its heyday. There's a lot more to this car than its wins at the Grand Prix of Mexico, Laguna Seca, Riverside and Pomona (and others), though.
See, this car was originally bought by Von Neumann alongside a second 625/250 TRC. Both cars were already rarities, sporting a 2.5-liter four-cylinder race engine sourced from Ferrari's Le Mans efforts. Von Neumann took things a step further, acquiring a 3.0-liter V12, which was then shoehorned into the sleek TRC's body. Yes, wee little Ferrari with a big ol' engine. It's a hot rod, and is one of the best looking, best sounding cars we've ever seen.
1964 Ferrari 250 LM sets Arizona auction record at $9.6 million [w/video]
Mon, Jan 19 2015We've seen some high-priced metal come up under the hammer in Arizona over the years, but the one you're looking at right here is the most expensive ever sold during the famous auction weekend. It's a Ferrari 250 Le Mans from 1964, the ninth of just 32 examples made. And RM Auctions just sold it for $9,625,000. That doesn't make it the most expensive Ferrari ever sold at auction, or even the top price paid for a 250 LM: according to figures from Sports Car Market, the same auction house has handled the top five highest-grossing 250 LMs of all time, including the 1965 Le Mans winner that sold in New York in 2013 for $14.3 million and another that sold last August in Monterey for $11.5 million. But it does make this example, according to RM, "the most valuable automobile sold in Arizona auction history." One of the earliest mid-engined Ferraris, the 250 LM was the last of Maranello's Le Mans winners. This particular example, chassis number 5899 GT, was sold by the factory to the famed Swiss racing team Scuderia Filipinetti, winning the Sierre-Montana Crans Hill Climb fresh out the box, followed immediately by another win at the XV Coppa Inter-Europa at Monza – both at the hands of Ferrari F1 and Le Mans drivers. After Filipinetti was done with it, 5899 GT was displayed at the Geneva Motor Show, was sold off the stand and changed hands a few more times – including one owner who oddly replaced the bodywork with that of a Porsche 906 Carrera 6 and another who swapped out the engine. It went on to win many more races, and was ultimately reunited with its original engine and proper bodywork. Restored several times over, 5899 GT was certified ten years ago by the Ferrari Classiche department and was even displayed at the factory museum in Maranello. The 250 LM wasn't the only noteworthy lot RM sold this weekend in the Frank Lloyd Wright Ballroom at the Arizona Biltmore, though. Several other Ferraris sold in the millions, from a '67 275 GTB/4 that sold for $3.6 million to a 2005 FXX Evoluzione for $1.6 million. The '71 Lamborghini Miura SVJ that was tipped to break the $2-million mark ultimately sold for under $1.9M, and the '84 Audi Sport Quattro ultimately dropped right in its estimate range at $401,500. Ferrari officially files SEC paperwork to register future IPO
Thu, Jul 23 2015Late last year FCA announced plans to spin off Ferrari into a separate company, and after a long wait that process has finally become official. The Prancing Horse has now filed the necessary prospectus and other documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission to hold an initial public offering on The New York Stock Exchange. The paperwork doesn't mention a specific date for the Italian sportscar maker's IPO, but it's expected sometime in October. At this point, the documents also don't include some other vital data about the IPO. Ferrari lists neither the number of shares being offered nor their price. The company also doesn't have a stock symbol yet. UBS, BofA Merrill Lynch and Santander are acting as joint book runners for the deal. As part of the IPO, FCA initially intends to sell 10 percent of Ferrari's shares on the stock market. Another 10 percent of the company still belongs to Piero Ferrari. FCA is holding onto the remaining 80 percent in the short term for financial reasons but intends to distribute them to shareholders in early 2016. After the spin-off, about 24 percent of Ferrari would be owned by Exor, 10 percent by Piero Ferrari, and 66 percent by public shareholders, according to the SEC documents. FCA boss Sergio Marchionne believes that Ferrari could be worth over $11 billion. Although, his estimate might be slightly high. According to Reuters, Wall Street is actually putting the value somewhere between $5.5 billion and $11 billion. Ferrari Files for Initial Public Offering LONDON, July 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. ("FCA") announced today that its subsidiary, New Business Netherlands N.V. (to be renamed Ferrari N.V.), has filed a registration statement on Form F-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC") for a proposed initial public offering of common shares currently held by FCA. The number of common shares to be offered and the price range for the proposed offering have not yet been determined, although the proposed offering is not expected to exceed 10% of the outstanding common shares. In connection with the initial public offering, Ferrari intends to apply to list its common shares on the New York Stock Exchange.
