We purchased this car from a dealer up North, they were advertsing the car as retail ready. We made an offer on the car and were surprised when a month or so later our offer was accepted, oh little did we know. When we received the car, the first thing we noticed was the bad shrinkage to the upper dash and dash pod. The came the engine check light, then the missing tools, then the missing Tonneau cover for the convertible top. We started the car and tried to operate the convertible top, not surprisingly this didn't go to well, not too much of an issue, quite normal in the 355, just replace the seat potentiometer and re calibrate the roof. We took the car to the Independent specialist we always use to have these few things taken care of. Well, about an hour went by and I get a phone call from the technitian to go back, he needs to show me some other issues he has noticed. This is where the list starts, he has immediately noted that the cambelts which were supposed to have been changed recently looked terribly worn and deteriorated and there was obvious corrosion on the tensioners, a sign that the major service hadn't been done for quite sometime. He had also noted that the radiators on either side were leaking, the bottoms were quite badly corroded and the seams were letting fluid by. Putting the car on the computer to check the clutch, which incidentally was supposed to have been replaced at the same time the service was carried out, the result, clutch was 100% worn, now the computer is only accurate to + or - 5% and that is why the car would still drive, but not for long. On checking the cause of the engine check light we find that both Catalytic Converters were well below efficiency. (We later determined that one Catalytic Converter was completely empty and the other had remnants of the precious metals rattling around). We have since, done the complete Cambelt service with all Fluids and Tensioner's and Bearings, replaced the Clutch, replaced both Radiators, replaced both Catalytic Converters, had the both the Dash and Dash Pod recovered with leather, purchased a complete Tool kit and New Tonneau Cover. You might be asking yourself what the point of this story is, well my point is that when some dealers say "Retail Ready" and describe a car as "a Really Nice 355" that is not Black Horse Motors "Retail Ready" or a Black Horse Motors "Really Nice 355". My point, we may be towards the higher end of pricing on our cars, but our cars are at the very highest quality they can be, we don't sell cars that need anything. If a retail customer had purchased this car from the dealer in Illinois, they obviously wouldn't have purchased the car at wholesale, then the value of the work we have had carried out would be close to a retail value over $20,000. A Buyer could easily be into this car for over $80,000 maybe more. Save yourself time, stress and a whole lot of money, buy from Black Horse Motors and enjoy your car, not let her sit in a service shop all summer when you could be having a blast. We sold her Summer 2013 to a gentleman in the Daytona area of Florida who enjoyed her for about 700 miles and then decided because nof his age a new Corvette would be better for him to drive.

What is it about slow-motion video that makes everything so much cooler? Whether it's as simple as slapshot during a hockey game or as complex as a hypercar, filming in slow motion adds a new sense of depth, technicality and beauty to the subject. That's especially true when the video in question includes a rare Ferrari F50 and the team from Tax The Rich. One Autoblog staffer called it "mesmerizing" the first time he watched it, and we're certainly inclined to agree. The F50 has never been a very pretty car, but in this setting, it's somehow incredibly compelling, as it drifts around a corner and does donuts at an agonizingly slow pace. It doesn't take too much knowledge of the classic car market to figure out that, when it comes to values, Ferrari leads the pack. Bonhams 2015 Quail Lodge Auction did absolutely nothing to buck that trend with four of the five top sellers bearing the Prancing Horse. While none came near the auction house's sale of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for $38.115 million last year, there were still beauties in the bunch. The leader among these thoroughbreds was a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Competizione Alloy Berlinetta (pictured above) that went for $8.525 million, including the buyer's premium. It was one of just seven vehicles made to this specification and raced extensively when new, scoring a win in competition at Watkins Glen. A classic 1971 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider brought $2.64 million, and a somewhat more modern 1985 288 GTO had the hammer drop at $2.365 million. The final Prancing Horse in the top five was a 1951 212 Inter Cabriolet with a body by Vignale for $2.2 million. It scored second-in-class at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Overturning the Ferrari trend, a 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America rounded out the top five with a sale price of $1,952,500. While these are the most expensive vehicles to cross the block, you can check Bonhams' website for the results on all 111 lots. It's a wonderful array of largely European sports cars that are all in top shape.
Luca di Montezemolo may not have wanted to leave Ferrari this way, but don't feel too bad for the departing chairman, because he'll be hitting the ground with a golden parachute so big that he'll never have to work again. According to the latest reports, Fiat will pay Montezemolo 26.95 million euros (nearly $35 million) in severance pay. A little more than half of that will be paid in a lump sum of 13.71 million euros ($17.7M, equivalent to five times his annual salary) on January 31, 2015, with the rest to be paid within the next 20 years. The payment is contingent on Montezemolo not going to work for a competitor, so don't expect to see him replacing Stephan Winkelmann at Lamborghini or Wolfgang Dürheimer at Bugatti any time soon. At least not until March 2017. Of course with that much cash on hand, the 67-year-old marquis need never work again, but considering how busy he's used to keeping himself, we'd be surprised if he didn't pop up again somewhere.
