Ferrari F355 Replica Kit Northstar V8 Engine on 2040-cars
Providence, Rhode Island, United States
1996 FERRARI F355 STRETCHED KIT CAR Please read the entire ad before bidding. this is a project, see details below: I have a very cool project which I must regrettably pass on to someone else. I have aspired to build this car for some years now as a Father son project. However we simply haven't had the time. Now I have graduated from college and am starting my own business which consumes all of my time. With some work this could be one of the coolest cars around. (no reserve auction) This is not your average Fiero Kit car. Currently Titled/Registered in Vermont as a custom car titled "Ferro Specco" VIN# AZ-393299 which is hard to have done and is extremely important so you don't get pulled over every time you have your plate run by the Police and it comes up as a Fiero. This car is Registered and has its own custom Vin number issued by the state of Arizona. You will not require a custom vehicle safety inspection, simple as registering any other car. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The car is built on, I believe an 88' Fiero and has been heavily modified. Custom stretch to match the Ferrari F355 wheelbase, the suspension has also been modified extensively and widened which is usually accomplished with giant spacers (dangerous and looks very cheap) with these kits. (there are thin spacers to get the wheel spacing just right) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ You will notice the wheel gaps on my kit are perfect thanks to the custom suspension and adjustable coilovers. Most kits look like monster trucks. Keep in mind all this work was safety inspected in Arizona. Now for the fun stuff, the car is customized for a high output 4.6L Cadillac Northstar V8 Motor, the Northstar motor currently in the car is seized. (however the car did run at one time some years ago) It is paired up to a GM automatic transmission. However the donor fiero was originally a stick shift car so with an adaptor plate you could switch back to a manual transmission rather easily during the engine swap. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I am including a 1997 Cadillac Deville that runs perfectly with 42,000 miles which is the donor car I bought for this project. (owned by an older lady) I planned on using the Cadillac wiring harness to wire the kit car, engine, cluster, windows, lights etc. Just because I don't know exactly what the previous owners did wiring wise. The swap is pretty easy as it drops down from underneath with a cradle holding it up. All the engine mounts are there as far as the mechanicals go this will be like a plug and play engine swap. With a few bolt-ons this motor will easily make 300HP (This is a no title car, bill of sale only) (as a side note the car has developed sticky power steering from sitting, a common problem for this model, it turns freely turning left, but turning right is as if the car had no power steering. i haven't addressed the issue as it has nothing to do with the engine swap. and it still drives perfectly fine. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I am also including a 1985 4 cylinder 5 speed Pontiac Fiero that does not run but will likely be useful in finishing up this build. (this is also no title, Bill of sale only) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I have various manuals for the Fiero, Cadillac Northstar engine as well as the original build manual provided by the kit manufacturerThe exhaust is an OEM Ferrari 355 exhaust, The plumbing for the radiators in the front etc is probably still usable I would just double check everything. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The fiberglass kit is one of the highest quality kits available. Made by Air Dynamics the gel coated panels alone cost $8000. It also has an Interior kit with door cards dash tunnel etc. They were covered in black faux leather some time ago and could probably still be used as is, or easily rewrapped for desired color. They are in place, in the car but have not been fully installed Just installed brand new Windshield. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Things off the top of my head that the car needs. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ----The car currently does not have seats in it. I was planning on going for a racing look and was planning to buy racing seats. ----The rims are Ferrari replica wheels, and the the chrome is beginning to bubble up on the inside of the wheel, I was going to sandblast and powdercoat them. ----Miner cosmetic fiberglass work. Over the years stress cracks have developed in a few places, these will need to be filled in before paint.
----Mirrors ( these pop up on ebay for a couple hundred bucks every once in a while. I believe a certain generation of corvette mirrors look very similar) ----headlight motors/assembly (saturn lights will work with minor modification) I was going to modify them and delete the pop ups to give the car an updated look (see attached pic of red ferrari for reference) also one foglight is missing, these are off the shelf 3" foglights. ----taillight lenses. (Chevy HHR lights look nearly identical, or you can get the real ones for $400- $600) ----Door handle situation needs some work. (generally people employ door poppers here) ----Engine swap/miscellaneous wiring ----Paint job after work is completed. ----Tires are dry rotted but hold air. ----Front blinker lenses. (If I remember correctly, lenses from a camry can be modified slightly to fit.) ----Cluster ( I was going to modify the digital Cadillac cluster to work as it is already designed to work with the ECU) should be pretty easy and will look great! ----Some kind of engine bay prop, the decklid is pretty heavy, I was going to find a standard hood prop from another car, or just use the one from the parts fiero. ----Headliner and area around rear window, I was going to use 3M super 77 and some black pleather. ----seatbelts, The seatbelts are still in the car but are cruddy. I was planning to get 4 or 5 point harnesses. ----Other odd and ends, this is a project. If you have specific questions, or would like to see the car in person please contact me. (The car, and the donor cars are located on Federal Hill in Providence RI) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This is a no reserve auction. Payment type is Paypal Preferred or Cash or Cashiers upon delivery. Cars need to be picked up within 10 days of auction end. (I am losing the parking spaces) If you need the cars shipped, I can coordinate with your shipper but you must arrange shipping. $500 due upon auction close. full amount within 7 days. Also, If you have less than 5 positive feedback scores please contact me before bidding or I may remove your bid at my discretion. Thank you for understanding happy bidding. |

Take a video tour of the Ferrari F12 TdF's V12 engine
Fri, Oct 16 2015Ferrari's transformation of the F12 Berlinetta from a handsome GT into a road-devouring monster – the F12 TdF – seems impressive. To make sure the engine has a wail to match the threatening exterior, the Italians massaged the 6.3-liter V12 up to 769 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque. It now redlines at a screaming 8,900 rpm, and propels the coupe to 62 miles per hour in just 2.9 seconds. This new video takes viewers inside the upgraded mill to illustrate how these improvements were made. Among the host of changes, the intake receives variable-geometry intake trumpets. Even in his computer-animated video, they're amazing to watch in action. Ferrari has some other tricks too, though. Let the company show you the benefits of all the tweaks in this clip.
Christopher Ward chrono has actual metal from a Ferrari 250 GTO
Thu, 07 Aug 2014We've seen watchmakers use all sorts of methods to make their timepieces more attractive to automotive enthusiasts, from carbon-fiber dials and titanium cases to the logos of partnering automakers and racing series. Some have even designed all-new watches to go with a specific make or model. But Christopher Ward has taken things a step further with its latest chronograph.
The new Christopher Ward C70 3527 GT chronometer eschews all the usual gimmicks and goes for a more interesting one: it actually includes in its construction metal taken from the restoration of a Ferrari 250 GTO - namely chassis number 3527 GT that belongs to one Irvine Laidlaw, a Scottish nobleman and one of the wealthiest individuals in the UK.
When Baron Laidlaw bought his GTO in 2005, he sent it in for a thorough restoration that involved replacing some corroded and damaged exterior body panels. The discarded metal was acquired by TMB Artmetal, which specializes in that sort of thing, and partnered with Christopher Ward to create this limited-edition timepiece. The metal was used to make the back plate on which the number 6 - in homage to 3527's iconic 6 GTO license plate - is etched by laser and placed under museum-grade sapphire crystal.
Seven-figure cars highlight day one of RM's Monterey auction
Sat, 17 Aug 2013RM Auctions is one of several houses holding auctions during the Monterey weekend, and Friday night's festivities got quite pricey. Seven-figure vehicles were not at all uncommon during the first day of the two-day event, with the 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider, seen above, crossing the block for $9,075,000.
Other big earners included a pair of rare Ferraris, a 1950 166 MM Barchetta and a 1955 750 Monza Spider, which took $3,080,000 and $4,070,000, respectively. Outside of the red Italians, a 1939 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special captured $7,480,000 while a stunning, color-appropriate 1955 Jaguar D-Type took $3,850,000. We've got images of these vehicles, and a few other stunning examples of last night's auction, in the gallery above.
Thought it seems impossible, tonight's auction is expected to see even more high-dollar action. The winner of the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours, a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Torpedo Roadster is expected to command over $10 million. Also crossing the block will be a car we reported on a few weeks back - a supremely rare 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spyder. One of only 10 in the world, it's expected to take anywhere from $14 to $17 million when it hits the stage tonight.
