1995 Ferrari F355 Spider Coupe 2-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Emeryville, California, United States
1995 Ferrari F355 Spider
The Ferrari 355 Spider was produced from 1994 through 1999 and replaced the Ferrari 348. The 355 was viewed as an enormous improvement over its predecessor in terms of driving feel, performance, and serviceability. Two versions were available; the Berlinetta and the GTS. Over $135,000 when new, today they represent excellent value in modern Ferraris, and have developed a strong following. Certainly when new, the specification was impressive, with over 100hp per liter, five valves per cylinder, a 6-speed transmission, among the first offered in the United States. This particular car is an unmodified and unmolested 28,500 mile 6-speed spider finished in black with tan interior. The car is equipped with Challenge rear grille as well as modular wheels. The original wheels are included with the car. It is in very good cosmetic condition, with nice paintwork, which shows minor swirl marks and a few chips on the front of the car from road use. The panels fit and operate well. The glass and lights are in excellent shape as well, as are the wheels other than light curb rash and clearcoat deterioration to the rim only on the right rear wheel. The remaining three wheels are excellent. The trim is generally excellent other than a small area of black paint peeling from the trim on top of the driver’s door. The interior is original and in good condition. The dashboard shows virtually no shrinkage, just a small amount limited to the binnacle and passenger airbag cover. The gauges and switches are nice, while the leather is intact and in good general condition, although there is some wear to the driver’s seat bolster and a good thorough cleaning and conditioning would benefit the car significantly. The carpets are in nice shape and the trim is intact although it is displaying the typical stickiness that affects Ferraris of this period. The engine compartment and front compartment are both unmodified and very clean. The car comes with tan over mats and Schedoni leather bag for the tools and compressor. The car is equipped with an Alpine 6 CD changer. This is a great opportunity to acquire an affordable open Ferrari in a tasteful color combination with 6-speed transmission. Unmodified and with great integrity, this car has low mileage. It is due for a belt service at this time and comes with its original wheels, tools, and compressor. WE ARE AWARE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT CURRENT ON ITS MAJOR SERVICE AND WE HAVE PRICED IT ACCORDINGLY! TERMS AND CONDITIONS: This car is sold AS IS without warranty. A 10% deposit is due upon the successful completion of the auction. Remainder of payment is due within one week of the end of the auction, and prior to the delivery of the vehicle. Fantasy Junction reserves the right to end this auction early in the even of the sale of the car outside of eBay. Ferrari reports fewer sales, more profit to prove strategy is working
Thu, 01 Aug 2013Ferrari's angle of emphasizing exclusivity by limiting deliveries is appearing to bear fruit. The company posted a 7.1-percent increase in revenues to 1.7 billion Euros ($2.2 billion at today's exchange rates) during the first half of 2013. Net profits, meanwhile, saw a jump of 20 percent to 116.2 million Euros ($153.5 million). The Prancing Horse delivered 3,767 cars, which, while an increase of 2.8 percent, represents a rate of growth that's slower than in the first quarter of 2013.
While Ferrari may be actively trying to slow its sales down to below 7,000 in 2013, it's seen increased numbers in the US, Great Britain and Germany, along with double-digit growth in the Middle East and Japan (39 percent and 28 percent, respectively).
The move to limit sales should have a greater impact on the numbers that come in later this year, which we told you about back in May. Ferrari's controversial move has already seen a drop in sales to China, which saw 50 fewer Prancing Horses than this time last year.
$11.55 million 1964 Ferrari 250 LM highlights RM Auctions' first night in Monterey
Sat, 16 Aug 2014Some of the biggest auto auctions of the year are held during the weekend of the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Millionaires gather in hopes of outbidding their contemporaries for incredibly rare cars. As Bonhams' record sale on Thursday of a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO for $38 million showed, these days the world's most expensive vehicles are found at auctions, often with a prancing horse on the nose.
RM Auctions' Friday sale reinforced this even more when a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM topped the evening by bringing in $11.55 million, after the 10 percent commission. It wasn't the only million-dollar vehicle of the event, though. A 1965 Ford GT40 Roadster Prototype garnered $6.93 million, and a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 brought $1.705 million. Even a classic 1948 Tucker 48 had a final price of $1.57 million.
Surprisingly, some rather new cars actually brought in quite big money, too. A 2013 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Vitesse Le Ciel Californien sold for $2.42 million, and a 2006 Ford GT with just 13 miles sold for $407,000.
Race Recap: Brazil ends the 2013 F1 season with whimpers, bangs [spoilers]
Mon, 25 Nov 2013When the grid lined up at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in Brazil there were just 71 laps, almost 306 kilometers, until the end of the 2013 season. Sometimes the circuit in Interlagos is deciding a Championship winner or showcasing new talent, and sometimes it's merely deciding a winner. This year was the latter.
2013 World Champion Sebastian Vettel in the first Infiniti Red Bull Racing lined up in front of Nico Rosberg in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, Fernando Alonso in the first Ferrari, Mark Webber in the second Red Bull and his final Formula One race, Lewis Hamilton in the second Mercedes, Romain Grosjean in the Lotus, Daniel Ricciardo in the first Toro Rosso and his final race for the team before moving to Red Bull, his teammate Jean-Éric Vergne, Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari and Nico Hülkenberg in the Sauber.
There were numerous theories about what surprises might occur, with race day being the first dry running of the weekend and rain predicted to fall at some point during the running. The first surprise came when the lights went out and Vettel, the consummate starter, got beat to the first corner.
