Red 348tb; Not Perfect, But A Great Driver; New Clutch@40783; New Exhaust@41251 on 2040-cars
Alexandria, Virginia, United States
This 1991 Ferrari 348tb was purchased from the Mercedes dealer in Hagerstown, MD, in November of 2007. The car did not have any mechanical records at the time, but there are good records of the work done since then. The exterior of the car is finished in "Corso Rosso" and was repainted sometime in 2007, shortly before the car was purchased. The repaint was not done to Ferrari standards, but the paint itself is in good shape with some stone chips on the front and a spot over the front right wheel well that need touch up. The four wheels are in very good condition. The front tires are new (replaced at 40,578 miles). The rear tires have good tread but are old and should not be trusted if racing the car. The doors are solid but the passenger door could use a minor alignment adjustment. The power windows work well, as an accelerator was installed in 2009 to speed up the notoriously slow window up/down process this model has become known for. The interior is in average condition for a car of this age and mileage. The dash vents have all been renovated as they were suffering from Ferrari's "sticky plastic" problem. The carpet and mats show wear, but they are clean and without holes or stains. The tan leather on the dash and doors in is great shape. The seat leather does show some wear, particularly the driver's seat. That seat has been "re-dyed" at some point in the past and you can tell that the dye is beginning to wear through and there are clear signs of age on the driver's bolster. The headliner, both cloth and leather, is in great shape. Mechanically, this car is in great shape. The engine out belt service was executed at 40,214 miles by Ferrari of Washington shortly after purchase and the engine still screams today. The clutch was worn when the car was purchased and a new clutch was installed at 40,783 miles. The exhaust was also bad upon purchase and was replaced at 41,251 miles. The A/C was completely rebuilt in June 2012. |

Corvette gets slidey with Britain's best performance cars
Sat, 18 Oct 2014Autocar wants to find Britain's best driver's car, and it's challenging a murderers' row of some of the world's best performance vehicles to find out, including the latest Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. All of them were therefore assembled at the Castle Combe Circuit to find a winner.
If it wants to take the crown from this pack of mostly European competitors, the 'Vette has to beat some steep competition. Its challengers include monsters like the Ferrari 458 Speciale, Ariel Atom 3.5R and Jaguar F-Type Coupe. As a further hurdle for the winner to clear, Autocar also has last year's champ among the fighters - the Porsche 911 GT3.
Even if you're not at all interested in the C7, there's still something here for practically any fan of fast cars. The competitors include relative oddities among the pack like the Renault Mégane RS Trophy and Alfa Romeo 4C. Plus, Autocar has some well-positioned microphones that let you hear the Atom wailing like a banshee and the roar of the 458 Speciale. Check out the video to see which one of these all-stars takes home the award this year.
Will this 1966 Ferrari three-seater surpass $20M at Pebble Beach auction?
Fri, 25 Jul 2014With a week of lavish automotive events coming up centered around the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, some of the highest profile auto auctions in the world are about to take place. Hearing about Ferrari Testa Rossas and 250 GTOs going for tens of millions of dollars during these events is commonplace, but Gooding & Company is bringing a unique Prancing Horse to sell in California that could be a record-breaker for the company.
The car in question is the drop-dead gorgeous 1966 Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale with just 7,900 kilometers (4,910 miles) on the clock that's pictured above, and it checks all of the boxes to make it incredibly desirable. First off, just look at it. The flowing lines and giant, tinted moonroof really make this Ferrari a head-turner. Inside, it has the distinctive feature of three seats with the driver slightly forward in the middle, kind of like the McLaren F1. And what a view from behind the wheel with all of the expansive glass in front of and above the driver. According to the auction listing, Pininfarina displayed the Speciale at a variety of international motor shows in 1966 and 1967.
If the looks aren't enough, then the provenance puts this Ferrari over the top, for sure. Underneath those gorgeous lines is the chassis from a Ferrari 365 P2 endurance racer. The sale claims that this was the first mid-engine, Ferrari 12-cylinder model created from the start as a road car. After touring with Pininfarina, it went to Luigi Chinetti, the first man to sell a Prancing Horse in the US and the boss of the company's North American Racing Team. He sold it twice, but the Speciale has been in the hands of the Chinetti since 1969.
Why the Ferrari Testarossa deserves some respect
Wed, 13 Feb 2013Join us for a moment in putting on our way-back hats, zeroing in on the late 1980s. Imagine that you're in your bedroom. Look over at the wall across from your bed. What car do you see on the poster? If you're anything like us, it's a Lamborghini Countach - in fact, it's a trio of Lamborghini Countach models in an array of colors. Oh, and there's also a 1:18-scale diecast Countach in black sitting on our dresser with its scissor doors locked in a skyward embrace.
Of course, the Raging Bull wasn't Italy's only great supercar from the 1980s, especially if you cast your lot at the temple of the Prancing Horse. The Ferrari Testarossa, as pointed out in the latest video from Petrolicious, is an oft unsung hero penned from the stuff boyhood dreams are made of. Far from a *ahem* red-headed stepchild, the Testarossa deserves a place in the minds and hearts of '80s supercar fans the world over.
Scroll down below to watch vintage car collector Joe Ventura talk about the Ferrari Testarossa with beautifully bright red Italian design serving as a fitting backdrop.
