1992 Ferrari 348 Ts Base Coupe 2-door 3.4l on 2040-cars
Hollywood, Florida, United States
The belt service is a big job, but the owner before me had just had it done. I have all the original receipts.
What I can tell you is that the car is so nice to drive. My mechanic has told me that I have to drive it more. The car is made for driving. It was not built to collect dust in a garage. I agree, but I have no time. I travel most of the time for work and on weekends my kids are doing sports all the time. . . so, no car. My itch was to be able to own this car. I've done that, and I've enjoyed it, but now it is someone else's turn. The car had the full service done at 70,992 miles by the previous owner. This is what they did to the car: Removed Covers, under car panels, exhaust system, drain all fluids, disconnect all components, removed engine, removed valve coverings, and front case cover, removed cams, all belts, and tensioner bearings, replaced all cam seals, timing belts, and tensioner bearings, adjusted valves, reset cam timing, and reinstall valve covers, and replace spark plugs, replaced water pump, and water hoses in engine, they reinstalled all components, reinstall engine back, refill engine oil, gear box oil and coolant, flush and renew break fluid, replace oil filter, air filter and fuel filter. that was a big JOB back in 2008 and it costed a little over $10,300 between parts and labor. OK, I copied this from the service report and that was the scary job every Ferrari owner wants to avoid. It's done and not due util the car hits 105,000 miles. This major job is due every 35,000 miles. It has now just over 79,000. You should be good to go for a while. |

Drive covers the ups and downs of the Ferrari Testarossa
Mon, Jan 5 2015We don't know how we got here, but it's apparently Ferrari Testarossa season. Not even 90 days ago, Evo bossman Harry Metcalfe preached an ode to the eightiest Eighties exotic there ever was ("exotic," as opposed to supercars like the Ferrari F40 or Porsche 959). Only weeks ago, one of the white Testarossas from Miami Vice hit eBay for the outrageous Buy It Now price of $1.75M. Now we have Drive offering a five-minute video of John Pogson, an Englishman who's been restoring Ferraris for decades, discussing the ups and downs of a car that perhaps had the best shoulder pads of that whole decade. Pogson went to Italy to retrieve one of the first two Testarossas to reach to England, and promptly got in trouble with the factory for taking prospective customers to Silverstone for hot laps. Unlike other paeans, Pogson says it took him time to overcome misgivings about the red-headed classic, like how it wasn't very fast and would "run out of brakes" on the track, but he's come around to it. The video above is just a teaser for a longer Drive video behind a pay wall, so don't expect fireworks, but do expect some mighty exhaust noises. And since we're here celebrating, below we've included a MotorWeek Retro Review of the Testarossa from 1998, and another of Chris Harris driving a 1992 512TR. Harris likes it so much he says five words in the whole vid. And the coupe really does look better when you wear a white suit, even a horribly wrinkled one. This content is hosted by a third party. Ferrari 458 Scuderia to be unveiled in Frankfurt?
Tue, 16 Jul 2013We're heavy on the speculative side with this, but Auto Express is saying that "Rumours of Ferrari 458 Scuderia emerge, with possible debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show." To be clear, that's the possible debut of a car that is still only a rumor, and we're not sure it will be called "Scuderia," either - remember, the track-day 360 was the Challenge Stradale. Admittedly, the rumor of its existence is strong and there is plenty of precedent: Ferrari has introduced some model or variant of its mid-engined V8 sports car at the last three Frankfurt Motor Shows.
Car and Driver went into a great deal of indepth speculation about the coming, track-focused 458 in a piece back in May, and also predicted it would be shown first in Frankfurt. According to C/D we can expect "roughly 600" horsepower and 9,300-rpm redline - up 300 rpm from standard - a faster shifting seven-speed gearbox, a dry weight under 2,900 pounds thanks to "exotic compound materials" and a "slightly stripped interior," less exhaust silencing, uprated carbon-ceramic brakes and active aerodynamics on the rear diffuser.
As far as rumors go this one sounds thoroughly lovely. We hope to see it in made metal in Frankfurt in two months, you can enjoy a detailed gallery of the 563-horsepower Ferrari 458 Challenge above for now.
Ferrari releases teaser video for 458 Speciale
Thu, 22 Aug 2013As is the specs weren't enough, Ferrari is helping us get ready for the reveal of the 458 Speciale at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a short teaser video. You won't get much in the way of a full-body modeling session, naturally, but there are plenty of close-ups of its intakes, scoops, vanes, seriously racy bucket seats and lots and lots of carbon fiber.
And showing how omnipresent on-camera surveillance can sometimes be a good thing, the harder 458 has already been caught being tinkered with in digital photos taken at Maranello. For the moving pictures, however, there's that video below.
