I am selling my 1985 Ferrari 308QV because my wife is expecting, so I won't have the time or the resources to enjoy
it. I have owned the car for six years and it has been extremely reliable and actually starts more quickly than my
new cars! I have kept the oil changed every year whether it is driven 400 miles or 50 miles and always use either a
UFI or Baldwin B253 filter. The car has never leaked one drop of engine oil on the garage floor and I have never
had to add oil, so it's not burning any in the exhaust. All of the gauges and electronics work on the car and the
ac blows pretty cool by 308 standards. The windows are actually pretty fast too compared to others' experiences I
have read about on the net. The car is a little louder than a normal 308 because the previous owner hollowed out
the factory cat, but I have an aftermarket cat and new Bosch oxygen sensor that I will include with the sale. I
will also include two bottles of Redline 75W-90NS trans fluid, a new Bosch fuel pressure regulator, Fram fuel
filter, and two Baldwin B253 oil filters. I just changed the oil and filter on 12/23/16, so it's good to go in that
respect. The car has the original books and cover (which can be worth $1000 alone these days), a partial tool roll
with jack, and the original spare wheel and tire that still look new. I just put in a new battery connected to a
new battery tender, so you won't have to worry about battery drain; just plug it in and forget about it until your
next drive. The interior is in great shape with no tears in any of the surfaces. The exterior is very good as well,
and while not at a show car level, it wouldn't take much to get it to that point. The car was repainted at some
point so the paint is deep in color and likely 7 or 8 years old. In short, this is a great car, and I wouldn't
hesitate to start it up and drive 70 miles in the middle of the night and have any worries about getting to my
destination. I hate to sell it and already know I will regret it, especially when these cars commonly hit six
figures someday, but I have new priorities so it has to go

Future Ferraris could be based off single, modular platform
Wed, Sep 2 2015Thanks to its imminent initial public offering, Ferrari sits at the precipice of being an independent sports-car maker for the first time in decades. With Sergio Marchionne still at the helm, expect the famous brand to push even harder to grow sales around the world. According to an investigation of the company's future by Automobile, the next-generation of Ferraris could ride on a shared, modular platform and embrace turbocharging even more. Modular underpinnings, like Volkswagen's MQB or Volvo's SPA, are hugely popular in the industry because they let automakers cut development time and share more parts among models. According to Automobile, Ferrari is prepping an aluminum space frame that could support front- and mid-engine models. The design would also allow electronics, suspension parts, and powertrains to be shared among the Prancing Horse's vehicles. The first Ferrari using this platform could be the next-gen California, which is predicted to launch around 2017. The more aggressively styled hardtop convertible could also have an entry-level version with a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6, possibly shared with the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Contrary to previous rumors, Automobile reports that the Dino might not be getting this engine, but instead could pack a bespoke, 600-horsepower V6 behind the driver. The coupe would carry a price tag of around $200,000. Also, look for Ferraro to celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2017 with a car Automobile refers to as the LaFerrarina, because it would use the LaFerrari's platform for a grand-touring model. Vettel says halo would have saved Wilson, Surtees
Fri, Mar 4 2016Sebastian Vettel reckons the aesthetics of the new halo protection system do not matter as long as it helps save lives in Formula 1. The Ferrari driver ran with the device for the first time on Friday, after teammate Kimi Raikkonen tested it on Thursday. The halo, however, was subject to harsh criticism from some drivers like world champion Lewis Hamilton, who said it was the "worst-looking mod in F1 history". Force India Nico Hulkenberg was also against the device and labelled it as "horrible". Four-time champion Vettel, however, is convinced drivers like Justin Wilson and Henry Surtees - who died after being hit in the head by objects during races - would still be alive today had the halo system been used in their cars. "First of all, to go around is okay. You can see what you need to see," Vettel told reporters on Friday. "I think we can improve the system in terms of aesthetics and also in terms of how much it's in your way, but I tested it as well in the simulator and I think we will see evolutions of it very soon. "In principle I agree it doesn't look very nice but equally it helps increase the safety, it helps saving lives. "There would be at least two drivers in the last four years there I remember that would still be around – Henry Surtees and Justin Wilson – if we had this type of system. "I think it can be very ugly but nothing justifies not having these two guys around." Ferrari looks to cut 20% total C02 emissions over 7 years
Tue, 24 Jun 2014In the late 1970s, performance cars suffered a huge blow when the necessity for better economy and lower emissions crippled their power. It took nearly a decade for the horsepower to return. Today, we're in the middle of another push for greater vehicle efficiency, but don't expect another era of malaise this time. Instead, lightweight materials, turbos and hybrids mean that everyone can be happy. However, the pressure to clean up isn't just for the mass market, supercars must improve too, but Ferrari at least seems to be taking on the challenge in stride.
Ferrari Powertrain Director Vittorio Dini recently told Automotive News Europe that the Prancing Horse will improve its current average C02 emissions of 270 grams per kilometer by 20 percent by 2021, to reach about 216 grams of C02 per kilometer. To achieve these lofty ambitions, the company will exploit a relatively simple path. "In the future, all of our V8s will use turbos," said Dini said to ANE. Also, its V12s will use hybridization because it'll be a better choice for them compared to the heat of multiple turbos, he claimed.
The first steps of this strategy are already in front of us. The new California T ditches its naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a smaller displacement, more powerful turbocharged unit, and the LaFerrari is already using the hybrid V12. Dini's quote certainly lends some credence to the rumor that the 2015 refresh for the 458 Italia may use an even more powerful version of the California's turbo V8. With a new Ferrari model planned for each year between now and 2018, the Prancing Horse seems unperturbed by any threats posed by emissions.
