This stunning Italian Classic has been driven only 37,500 miles in 33 years.  It comes with period correct mint 3-piece BBS 16" aluminum rims wrapped in Pirelli tires (plenty of tread).

I purchased this fine vehicle from California where it spent seemingly all of its life before I brought it to South Florida.  It comes with the original Ferrari factory congratulatory purchase letter for its first owner.  It comes with the original owners manual and factory tools as well as an extensive service history totaling approximately $30K by its previous California owner (20 years) and myself (6 years).  In addition, the previous owner spent $10K on a top notch paint job during his ownership.

In good running condition.  Timing belts serviced at 33.5K miles.  Rear brake rebuild and service last year.  Recently had ignition system serviced.  It has the upgraded fuse blocks and the electrics are in fine working order.  An issue affecting these cars at this age that is rarely mentioned is the cats getting clogged.  I had mine removed mine but kept them on hand for the next owner if they choose to rebuild them.  The smog pump is installed in the car but disconnected. If you live in a state that has emissions testing, you will have to deal with servicing the disconnected equipment.  No guarantees.

The interior is all original showing normal wear (driver's bolster), good stitching without tears.  Having been a California car and kept indoors (garaged), the body on this pre-galvanized 308 (75-82) is way better than most.  Most of the pre-galvanized 308s suffer from rust issues.  It is rust-free with the exception of rust bubbles developing on the bottom of the doors (priced accordingly).  It's a very common problem on these yet most people don't bother mentioning it on their ads.  It has rare mint bumpers and crystal clear (unfaded) lights.

The A/C is installed in the car but the belt was disconnected.  The A/C was in working order when I acquired it but useless in the summer heat.  If you want good A/C, you need to buy yourself a pricier 328 ($45,000 - $65,000), as all 308s come with sub-rate A/C systems.

Ferrari planning 458 Speciale Spider?

Wed, 25 Jun 2014

The Ferrari 458 comes from a long line of mid-engined V8 supercars to roll out of Maranello, from the 348 and F355 to the 360 and F430. Each has also bred a Spider version, and starting with the 360 Challenge Stradale (through the 430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale), a hardcore performance version. But combining the best attributes of Spider and performance model is relatively new territory for Ferrari, one which it attempted only with the limited-production Scuderia Spider 16M. And if the latest rumors are to be believed, it's about to go at it again.
Though we can't verify its sources, 4WheelsNews says it has double confirmation from within Ferrari that a 458 Speciale Spider is in the works. When reached for confirmation, Ferrari refused to comment, as it typically does on the prospect of new models yet to be announced. Given the precedent of the Scuderia Spider 16M, it would seem to make sense, but for the time being we'll have to chalk this one up as a rumor.
If it were built, the Ferrari 458 Scuderia Spider (or whatever it would ultimately be called) would take the best of the 458 Spider and 458 Speciale to pack the 600-horsepower version of Maranello's sweet-revving 4.5-liter V8 underneath a folding hardtop. The latter is something the 16M did not offer, but crucially, the new McLaren 650S Spider does. We'd also expect only a limited number to be produced at a suitable premium over the Spider's $257k MSRP and the Speciale's $288k sticker.

Ferrari CEO could retire Friday letting Marchionne step in

Tue, Apr 12 2016

Rumors once again suggest that current Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa plans to retire from the role. Anonymous insiders tell Bloomberg that the announcement could come as soon as April 15, with an announcement at the company's upcoming investors meeting. Sergio Marchionne is the favorite to become the new CEO, the unnamed sources claim. Felisa would step down as CEO after Ferrari nominates its new board of directors, according to Bloomberg. He would likely retain a seat on the board and could still do some work at the company. Felisa joined the sports car maker in 1990 as director of product development. He replaced Jean Todt as CEO in 2008. Marchionne is already Ferrari's chairman, and taking on the CEO role in addition would give him greater control over the brand's future. Bloomberg's insiders note that Marchionne's takeover isn't final yet, and someone else could conceivably get the role. The sweater-wearing exec has a clear view for Ferrari's future, though. He plans to increase volume to around 10,000 vehicles a year, but he's staunchly against building an SUV or an EV. If he takes control, expect him to work out a plan to increase the Prancing Horse's share price. At its October IPO, the stock started at $52 a share; today it opened at $41.24. Rumors about this shift have been swirling for months. For example, reports from Italian media in June 2015 suggested Felisa would retire as CEO. Subsequent rumors claimed Marchionne was the frontrunner to take over the position. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Ferrari 250 GTO may have set new sale record at $52M

Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Records are made to be broken, and it seems that one may have just been snapped again. An Italian website is reporting that a Ferrari 250 GTO, owned by American collector Paul Pappalardo, recently sold for $52 million.
Now, this is far from confirmed - Pappalardo responded to questions about the sale saying, "I do not confirm these things, I have no comment about!" - and if it's a private sale, it's unlikely that we'll ever know the exact amount of the transaction. If that figure is correct, though, it easily eclipses the $35 million made in a 250 GTO sale in April of 2012, as well as the $27.5-million sale of a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 NART Spider sold at RM's Monterey auctions in August.
What makes a car that had 39 examples built more valuable than one that had only 10 units produced? Racing pedigree. The 250 GTO is a racing legend, with each car having a unique provenance that is more than enough to add some serious value. According to 0-100.it, the GTO in question, 5111GT, found its first owner in French racer and winner of the 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jean Guichet, back in 1963. The Frenchman used the V12-powered racer to win the GT category of the Tour de France Automobile in that same year.
